Comics for Ladies

BY Sarah J. in General |

So I'm a giant comic geek, but I despair over the lack of comics aimed at the ladies. There's plenty out there that I love, still, but it makes me happy to see that DC Comics has started an entire girl-centric line, Minx. The newest Minx book is The New York Four, by Brian Wood and Ryan Kelly, who teamed up before this on the superb Local, which is also amazing and girl-friendly. The New York Four is the story of four NYU students finding their way around the ... Read More

Canucks, Becky Black and Maya Miller play a mean blues on debut album Tintype (Mint) while at the same time fit comfortably within the 'new' revival of garage rock duos. Think The White Stripes only with two awesome ladies instead of just one meeting ...Shannon Curfman maybe? Among Strangers

BY Sarah J. in General |

I am loving the new line from Among Strangers clothing--it looks like what I'd want to wear on a really classy date with Ziggy Stardust. Sleek black dresses and space-age shoulder flaps, and a superhot skirt with lightning bolts on it--all equal parts glam rock and film noir. And they are having a trunk show at Helianthus, at 552 La Guardia Place on Thursday, July 10th. That's this Thursday! There will be two cocktail receptions, one from noon to 2 PM and one ... BY Team Intern in General |

I kind of have an obsession with moustaches. Be it fake felt moustaches, Eugene Hutz's 'stache or jus the word itself. But this awesome company called Fuzzy Ink has a website featuring a plethora of tee shirts all adorned with moustaches! While purusing the site of the many 'stache adorned shirts (I know! But try to contain your excitement) I stumbled upon this awesome little tee shirt called the "Sunstache Kid." Ah! So great. Fuzzy Ink says it's a ... Read More

Super cute and practical

BY Gail in General |

I am loving these hip holsters from Queenbee Creations! Just enough space to put some money, a phone, and a lipgloss, and convenient for walking or biking or doing anything you need your hands free for. Not your usual fanny pack, indeed. I wish I had one of these cute little bags back when I was a waitress! And if you feel too nerdy wearing them around your waist, you can adjust the strap and sling 'em around your shoulder, or even take it off and carry them as a ... Read More
