Get your art on the go

BY Web Intern in General

Come ride in train full of artwork this Saturday, August 30th, when a Chicago CTA train is converted into a mobile gallery from 6 pm - 10 pm. The event is organized and hosted by Lethal Poetry and Salvo, a think tank of artists who want to bring art into the public sphere. ''Our passion is not only to provide Chicago artists with a means to exhibit their work unconventionally,'' they say at www.chicagoartontrack.com, ''but to redefine the public's role in the art ... On this day in 1920, American women finally were granted the right to vote. It's a big deal, and not something to be taken for granted, so if you haven't already registered to vote, take a second and do it now . Do it for ... Read More
Big news! At Your Cervix , a documentary aiming to improve pelvic exams for women, was chosen as one of 8 finalists from over 100 ideas on Ideablob.com! We blogged about them last week, and since then, the filmmakers have made it one step closer to winning the $10,000 grand prize, and it was no doubt largely thanks to the BUST readers that made sure to get their votes in! Voting for the finals is happening NOW and continues until Aug 31 at midnight. The ... Read More
What would you do if you met a handsome, mysterious stranger on a plane? If he kept giving you different names with the same sexy smile? What if you're a flight attendant, and it's your job to keep a planeload of people safe? Yet you can barely get onto the plane each time without swallowing pills for your acrophobia... That's the story behind Air , a new Vertigo comics ongoing series about the weird, magical process of flying in a post-9/11 world, about travel, ... Read More

Looks like it's an entire weekend of free shows with our best BUST band friends! This Sunday, Heloise and the Savoir Faire will be playing a free show at Music Hall of Williamsburg, (this place is kind of becoming my favorite spot), after the McCarren Pool Party. You may recognize Heloise from the feature we did on her in BUST, and from her performaces at our February issue release party and the BUST SXSW Hangover Lounge Party this year! She's a sassy lady ... Read More

I promise you this site will boggle your mind. Hands down the most insane condoms I have ever seen in my life. Hand painted? Lights? Music? What would you do if someone rolled one of these on when you were getting hot and heavy? First off you would have to put a condom on the condom to keep from getting paint chips all up in you. The lights and sound only go off when the tip is touched. Wouldn't the music get all muffled? And this of course leaves the question, ... Read More

The rad art of Maya Hayuk!

BY Dawn in General

Maya Hayuk is a Brooklyn based muralist, photographer, painter, music video creator and all around bad-ass. I'd seen her impressive murals before, but had no idea that her art was so expansive until Alison F. sent me this fascinating/funny/inspiring video interview she did with Etsy. Wth a heavy focus on environmental art, Maya's work reflects a collaboration between architecture, and the surrounding community that her art lives in. Not only is Maya a popular ... Read More
