Need a portal to glamour? Look no further. I'm on my way to Iowa to join up with Leslie and the Lys on a short midwest tour. The kick off is to occur at the Iowa State Fair, Leslie Hall's childhood dream come true! I've been photographing Leslie Hall for nearly four years so check the Bust blog all week for the insider saga that is about to ... Read More
I know that recently I posted No Doubt's Excuse Me, Mr. and said that it was my "gettin' pumped" song, but I have a confession to make. It's not the only one. *gasp!*
Alas, it is true, I don't work out, but I have almost a constant mental list of songs that get me geared up for the day. My life's been feeling a little lackluster as of late ("WHAT AM I DOING WHERE AM I GOING WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING AHHHHHH"), and so, when I find myself in times of trouble, my ... Read More

The much beloved indie/weirdo band Animal Collective has paired up with director Danny Perez for a visual album called Oddsac. What this project proves, at least to me while watching it wide-eyed on a Sunday afternoon, is that if you hand a group of boys a video camera, they will make something that's all about egg pods and slimy mutants with worm heads.
Oddsac comes in a paperback sized package, complete with a hard bound picture book that is cryptic, and ... Read More

Coming across new tracks by Andre 3000 is basically like finding a grocery bag full of money. He is such an elusive character, traipsing around the Deep South like he owns the place...i mean, he kind-of does. His music is always so fresh and raw, and he makes no apologies for his bona fide rhymes. Yesterday Limelight Exclusives dropped their new mixed tape featuring a new track by the ATLien, "I Do." This track is super chill- Andre lays his feelings on ... Read More

Loving this duo from Melbourne Australia, Super Wild Horses. You may recall Everett True wrote about them in the magazine last winter. Amy and Hayley (they keep it mysterious- no last names!) play fuzzed out garage-y, primitive pop rock, and as you can see from this video for Golden Town, they are adorable! Their first full length, Fifteen, will be released next week on HoZac records here in the US. If you like bands like The Breeders, Vivian Girls, etc, (and ... Read More

I love Arcade Fire. And while I was one click away from buying my ticket to their U.S record release show for The Suburbs last week at Madison Square Garden, I went against my instinct and bought a bus ticket out of town instead. But it worked out in my favor regardless. Turns out director Terry Gilliam livecasted the entire show on YouTube for everyone who missed it. But the recording of the show is more than just a video recording, Gilliam seemed to layer images ... Read More
Longing for some more MIA shenanigans? Well, in that case, here you go! I present to you the new video for XXXO off her new album MAYA. Welcome to the ex-MySpacer's glittery HTML comment nightmare, kiddies. But seriously, it's all in good fun. I mean, I know she's a powerful lady, but I wonder if she's powerful enough to finally sink that SPAM-infested Titanic.
Okay, I kid, I kid...just watch it and see for yourselves!

Ex-Blondie bassist Greta Brinkman said it best when referring to women in the music scene in the 1980's:"At that time, there was this shining moment in American DIY music when everybody was in their own bands, driving around in the back of a beat-up van and putting on shows in their basement. And every band had at least one woman in, it seemed, it was no big deal. It wasn't until the late 1980s when everything went testosterone-mad that the scene became hostile ... Read More
And here, ladies and perhaps gentlemen, is something I know much less about, but is still incredibly awesome.
Check out this new video from Invincible + Waajeed, Detroit Summer/Emergence. First watch analysis? Straight up city summers, sweating the moment you get out the door even though you took a shower 20 minutes ago, wearing as little clothing as possible even though you have more jeans and tshirts than anything else, dresses even though you don't feel dressy, ... No Doubt and I go way back. As in, Tragic Kingdom could very well be my favorite album ever (yep, I almost said it...it's that serious), and it's the oldest CD I own. I think I asked for it for Christmas or something when I was in 5th grade. It got scratched all to hell and only finally stopped working and started skipping about 2ish years ago. As in, the first song I ever sang at a talent show was Suspension Without Suspense from Return of Saturn. As in, when we ... Read More
