I saw these guys play last night at Mercury Lounge and they were so awesome! Londons own Jim Jones Revue are the real deal, down and dirty Rock-n- Roll, all sweat and swagger. They are playing a handful of shows, if they come to your town, grab your wig and go see them!

I admit to stealing this idea (thank you, Eric), but it's so dead on I had to post. Janelle Monae's "Tightrope" may have gotten 23 million fewer hits on YouTube than Katy Perry's "California Girls," but no CGI gummy bears were injured in the making of this video. I think it makes a way better Song of the Summer. What do you think?

I tend to hate the idea of one woman giving an interview where she winds up speaking on account of “all women.” We are all very different and of course can only speak from our own individual points of view. That being said, NPR is my hero. The good people over there have officially launched their new series “Hey Ladies,” which is based in this crazy new-fangled idea of working woman musicians. In March, they sent out a pretty decent list of ... Read More

Happy Wednesday ya'll, here is a fun cover of X's "Nausea" by one of our favorites, Yacht.
I love X, and I've always loved this song, but it's funny, on this version, the words are much clearer, X's version is pretty raw, and I always thought Exene was singing "Nausea, bloody red eyes girl," but on this version, Claire L. Evans sings 'bloody red eyes go" so yeah, I learned something new today! Check out the upcoming Yacht dates, below, news has it they are working ... Read More
So, here’s the deal. Amanda Palmer, infamous member of The Dresden Dolls and now flourishing solo artist, has recently been liberated from her record label, Roadrunner Records. (…home to Nickelback. Yes, seriously.) Her newest release, an album full of Radiohead covers on the ukelele is scheduled to come out tomorrow. This will be her first official release as an independent artist (hooray!), and the awesome thing about this whole independence ... Read More
People use a variety of things to combat the grumpies. Booze, bad television, shopping excessively, and arguing with strangers is just a short list of things that can be brought into play to chase the blues away. But nothing quite does the trick like conjuring up an image of Zooey Deschanel in a sun dress, jumping up and down while banging on a tambourine - which is exactly what she did for about an hour and a half at the sold out She & Him show at Terminal 5 ... Seeing Glass Candy, Portland’s Italo/Disco darlings, on a New York stage was, one would imagine, like seeing Elvis play Vegas. You're watching an artist you love, who sound as great as ever, but the setting is cheesy and wrong and it just feels weird. In Portland, Oregon, where Ida No and Johnny Jewel originate and perform regularly, their shows feel like family reunions—crowded, but exciting and intimate. They fill to capacity the ... Read More

Nothing says patriotic holiday weekend like Bjork singing songs to some whales. Well, she's mostly singing the songs to raise money for whales, but I'm sure she'd delight in singing directly to them as well. Bjork has teamed up with last Summer's musical mascots, Dirty Projectors, for an EP called Mount Wittenberg Orca, all proceeds of which will be donated to the National Geographic Society's Ocean Initiative. Stream this album while you fire up the grill ... Read More
