Traditionally, it’s been scripted for you: first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage… Yadda, yadda, yadda. Sounds easy enough. Until you decide that the script isn’t for you. In this new HBO documentary, First Comes Love, filmmaker Nina Davenport throws the script out and documents how it goes doing things her way. She's unmarried, over 40 and she wants to have a baby.
The plan is, there is no plan. This ... Read More

This is LITERALLY the saddest news I’ve heard all week. As a huge Parks and Recreation fan, I’m bummed to hear that both Rashida Jones (Ann Perkins) and Rob Lowe (Chris Traeger) are leaving after 13 episodes into the next season. Jones, who has starred in the show since the pilot, spent the end of the last season trying to get pregnant with Lowe's character. Presumably, their on-again/off-again relationship and her potential pregnancy will be tied into ... Read More

In anticipation of the upcoming red carpet gala, the Girls mastermind has had a few things to say about the HBO show's nominations. Just now finishing filming the third season of her hit show, (not that anybody's counting the days or anything...) Dunham revealed that she's most excited for co-star's Adam Driver's comedy nomination. Although she's received three noms herself, his gave her a "shriek-y, joyful, amazed sensation." Dunham stated, "It means so much to ... Read More

Piper Chapman, three months shy of her incarceration in federal prison, lounges on the beach with her fiancé Larry, gabbing casually about her jailtime to-do list.
“I’m going to read everything on my Amazon wishlist. And maybe even learn a craft, you know? I could be crafty.” Oh, girl.
You know that the protagonist of Netflix's new original series, Orange is the New Black, is about to have a rude awakening.
And don’t ... Read More

Five illustrations of girls in blue dresses and bows appear against the white canvas. “Show me the ugly child,” says the soft-spoken woman to the young black girl barely above the table’s edge. The illustrations are an array of five different skin shades--light to dark. The little girl’s finger lightly touches the last illustration on the canvas. Her tiny hand darts back.
“And why is she the ugly child?”
“’Cause ... Read More

We may think we know, but we have no idea. She was the most famous woman in the world and yet the world knew so little about her. Marilyn Monroe was so much more than the air-headed characters she portrayed; she was highly intelligent, passionate and driven, as well as an innovative leader for women in Hollywood. She bucked the system and made her career her own.
Love Marilyn takes her recently discovered writings and turns them into poignant ... Read More

Oh, BBC America. I expected more from you. I mean, you're all British and everything, and as every dumb American knows, that means you're more sophisticated than we are. Especially when it comes to your TV shows (hello Downton Abbey).
But it looks like America may have rubbed off on the BBC in their new series for BBC America, Copper. "1865, New York. There are no city limits" reads the subway poster promoting the second season of this Gangs-of-NY style ... Read More

HBO has really stepped up their game. Their documentaries are no exception to this. They seem to be resurrecting an art-from that had been pushed to the side in favor of instant internet journalism. We can safely say that, with the premier of Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, HBO has revived the documentary. The film, directed by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin, shows some never-before-seen footage of the trial and events leading up to that performance in ... Full disclosure, I love musicals, so The Tony Awards is always one of my favorite things to watch. Living in NYC doesn’t mean I get to go see a lot of Broadway, as let’s get real, I can’t afford it. But the shows I have been able to catch this season, and the musicals featured on The Tony Awards look like something you must try to get over and see. Motown! Annie! Newsies! Kinky Boots! I really could go on…but back to Neil Patrick Harris.

OMG, can you believe it? Sex & The City premiered 15 years ago today! I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve seen every episode, though probably as many times as I’ve seen The Breakfast Club. Considering they both play on TBS every, like, 5 minutes, let’s just say a lot. When I heard that today is the 15th anniversary since the show first aired on HBO, I wanted to leave the office, run straight home (down ... Read More
