There’s no disputing the fact that the airbrushed and photoshopped images of models in fashion magazines can warp and dismantle a young girl’s self-esteem. Alexandra Shulman, the editor of British Vogue, wants to clarify that the photos of models on the pages of her magazine are not realistic representations of women.
That's why Shulman is releasing a ten-minute video detailing what actually goes on at a Vogue fashion shoot—hours of make up ... Read More
Horse is woman’s best friend. There is something so magical about a horse; I will always remember my first horse show, the smell of de-tangler, and my pony’s perfectly stunning braids. The majestic, ethereal horse!
Since I have spent my entire life strictly following the beauty routine I learned from my horses (a hairbrush? what’s that?), I was thrilled to find out about some new horsie hairstyles. The Norwegian Fjord horse, a breed ... Read More

I was recently sent some beauty products from a company called FACEFACTS BY Lori. It's a company that specializes in hand-crafted lip products, using all natural and certified organic ingredients. I love my lipsticks so I was excited to test these out! All natural has become a new priority for me, especially for lip stuff since I basically end up eating it by the end of the day. These specific lipsticks by FACEFACTS are neat because, among other things, ... Read More
The completely magical, fantastical drag and burlesque superstar The World Famous *BOB* is hosting an Onstage Beauty/Drag Basics class at the New York School of Burlesque tomorrow, Friday the 28th of August at 6:00 PM. The class will be super fun and informative. I have often coveted the stunning beauty and poise characteristic of drag stars (I myself never wear make-up), and now we can all have the chance to learn the secrets of the biz, like how to design ... In the past, we’ve talked about the gratuitous nudity on Game of Thrones, and even the fact that women really do love the show (sorry to break it to ya, boys). But we’ve failed you in one aspect BUST readers: we haven’t discussed those beautiful braids and up-dos that our fave GoT ladies sport on the show. I know, I’m sorry we haven’t addressed this earlier.
Luckily, I can help change that. I am pleased to present tutorials on ... Read More

Take a close look at these pictures Google developer Isabelle Olsson posted on her Google Plus feed late last month. Wicked cute, right? That’s Google Glass in action, my friends. Yep--the same thing that this guy is wearing. Could things finally be looking up for techies who aren't okay with looking like Urkel?!
Glass, Google’s latest technological endeavor, is a smartphone-esque platform worn around the face. It uses a combination of ... Read More
I used to get all sorts of giddy at the thought of summer camp so, of course, I'm extra excited for the camp-esque launch party of she and reverie's spring/summer 2014 collection, appropriately titled "Camp Versailles." The lifestyle lounge collection is crafted in Brooklyn from soft knits, washed silks and adorable details like merit badges and delicate lace.
While adulthood has its perks, we generally like to have our glitter cupcakes and eat ... Read More
A Waco, Texas pastor named A.J. Aamir recently banned the wearing of hair weaves by staff in his church. He justified his decision by saying that "black women are getting weaves, trying to be something and someone they are not."
Um, hello controversy.
Aamir, who grew up in an Islamic household, suggests with this statement that hair weaves project a false image of the woman wearing them, and that they should therefore be prohibited in the sacred place.
The pastor ... Read More

Recently, a PR person asked me if I’d be interested in trying a new pair of orthopedic sandals. I was super into it, of course—my love of comfort footwear is long and abiding. I was a die-hard Birkenstock fan long before the fashionable crowd embraced them, and yo, Imma let you finish, but I’ve been wearing Worishofers since the only place to buy them in NYC was at an elderly-person specialty store. But when my Wellrox sandals came in the ... Read More
