One of my favorite collections of the season has to be the adorably wearable Spring/Summer 2013 collection by Rachel Antonoff. Each season, her presentation is cuter than the last and this season doesn’t disappoint. Her garden party of fashion was a wonderland of preppy, school-yard looks with a hint of classic edge. The inspiration, 1977’s scientific film Powers of Ten, can be seen in the mesmerizing silk prints (which are actually aerial ... Read More

Gawd, I love colored cords. They're so much more fun than blue jeans.
When wearing colored cords, I usually like to keep the rest of my outfit simple; a grey sweater looks great with cords of any color, and you can never go wrong with a pair of black flats.

Designer Tara Subkoff is creating fashion for thrifty cool girls while simultaneously challenging narrow beauty and style ideals. She put on an exceptional show for her Spring 2013 line for her label, Imitation of Christ. The aptly titled "This Is Not a Fashion Show" moved away from the idea that fashion has to be flawless and fall into the weird notions of what's considered beautiful or desirable.Imitation of Christ is known for performance ... Add some punch and pizazz to your boring white dress shirt with collar clips, my must-have accessory of the year.
Most collar clips are easy to put on and take off (providing a quick and temporary way to get two shirts out of one), and you can find some reasonably priced ones at consignment stores, etsy.com, and ebay.com (tip: search for "collar tips" in addition to "collar clips").
For even more punch and pizazz, try putting collar clips on patterned dress ... Read More

Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn, Emma Watson, and now…Adele?
British Vogue reports that Adele may collaborate with British luxury fashion house Burberry on a plus-size line.
According to British Vogue, Burberry creative director Christopher Bailey personally approached Adele to become a Burberry ambassador, and Adele responded by asking if Burberry would collaborate with her on a plus-size collection.
Her request seems pretty reasonable. If Burberry ... Read More

In a recent interview with Tom Brady, designer and director Tom Ford made some interesting age-related comments about the football player’s wife, the absurdly gorgeous supermodel Gisele Bündchen.
The Internet has had it out for Ford since the interview came out in VMAN, calling for his head on a pike because he dared to talk openly about the fact that Gisele will someday age--and further, that it's unfortunate that the fashion industry will consider her less ... Read More

Last week, we caught wind of a horrific factory fire in Karachi, Pakistan that claimed the lives of 264 workers. Reporters at Refinery 29 drew similarities between the brutal blaze and the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire here in the states. And with good reason: The Pakistani factory kept their doors and windows sealed shut and had no emergency exits. Under these conditions, the trapped workers were left to suffocate and burn.

We know, we know--if you see one more Fashion Week-related Instagram, you're gonna puke. But it's worth checking out this antidote to the NYFW blahs: Fashion Week Internationale, VICE’s documentary series devoted to exploring fashion weeks outside NYC.
Fashion Week Internationale takes us to Uzbekistan, South Korea, Jamaica, Israel, Brazil, and more to uncover what VICE calls “the freaky, the weird, the shocking, and the raunchy fashion ... Read More

Looking for that special item that'll take your living room from blah to MoMA? Well, look no further. This mobile pops against plain white walls (yo, landlords, what've you got against cool paint colors?) and will brighten up an unused corner of even the most low-ceilinged room. You can even hang it above your bed--I hear it induces colorful dreams.

Vaute Couture, the super stylish coat maker, has unveiled its new coats for this winter: a collection of vegan and fair trade coats that are made of eco-friendly and sometimes recycled materials. Even better, they're made in the U.S.A. Founder Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart created Vaute in 2008 in order to offer coats that were warm enough for harsh winters without containing any animal products or compromising on aesthetics.
The coats are a bit pricey (from about ... Read More
