The online world has been a buzz with photographer, Petra Collins, and her menstrual blood-themed t-shirt. Collins designed the shirt, which is illustrated with a menstruating hairy vagina (vulva), especially for American Apparel. Commentary on the product has ranged from disgust to intrigue to even some who see it as pure feminist genius.
This shirt is cool because it leaves little to the imagination. I think it is a beautiful feminist statement but would ... Read More

Tell me about what you’re wearing. The glasses are vintage Renato Balestra, they were about $60. The bustier and the skirt are also vintage—they were both under $20. The jacket is Couture Vulture, a collaboration with Haddington District; it retails for $190. The combat boot/sandals are Jeffrey Campbell. I believe they were $140? The rose necklace was a gift; it’s from ... Read More
Since a study came out about the long term effects of high heels on women's health, I’ve noticed a slew of essays, blog posts, and editorials on the cultural implications of what we choose to put on our feet. After scouring the web for insights, it’s hard to determine exactly how women feel about high heels.

I recently came in contact with Beauty Without Cruelty. I was drawn to their array of colorful lipsticks and, of course, the idea of all-natural beauty. I found out their products are 100% vegetarian and 100% natural. The company was actually founded by an animal welfare organization, so you know they're legit. After all, fashion week is that special time of year when all of our senses are bombarded with delicate clothes draped over ethereal human hangers.
Instead, Rick Owens greeted the world with silhouettes of powerful, strong figures, ... Read More
If you gals and guys haven’t checked out the ever-popular @Seinfeld2000 Twitter account, you’re missing out. The dude behind it brilliantly uses Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld’s Manhattanite characters to critique contemporary obsession with celebrity and technology. Tweets include banal and hilariously self-involved reflections on topics ranging from Breaking Bad to kale, and they include unbelievably hilarious misspellings. The account ... Read More

Le Vero - a Tokyo-based design company - has just come out with its newest collection: Business is Pleasure. The name really says it all as the inspiration for the collection came from the two designers’ love for passion in the work place. The new line includes personalized wallets, passport holders, computer bags, and business card cases. Backed by Kickstarter, every piece of this collection is super chic with a retro flare. For most brands, the concept of using "diverse" models in their advertisements extends to using both size two AND four Amazons. Despite continued backlash for these skewed representations, retailers have made no real initiative to promote a wide range of body types.
So, when I stumbled upon Debenham's Summer Look Book from earlier this year, I couldn't help but squeal with happiness. The campaign features, among other things, a Paralympian, a 60+ year old ... Read More

Abercrombie and Fitch is having a “meltdown,” reports Buzzfeed. Why? Because girls aren’t buying the whole “cool kids wear Abercrombie” thing anymore. Women’s clothing sales have dropped 30% in the last quarter, contributing greatly to an overall 10% decline in business.
Company CEO Mike Jeffries isn’t revealing much about the drop (don’t let 'em see you sweat, ... Read More
