“I have become more fascinated with the ambiguity of an image. If you remove the facts and the dates and are just left with the image, that image to me is strongest, when each viewer can attach their own meaning to it.” Documenting his experience as a musician in a successful band, Nick Zinner is able to reveal moments detached from context and free of rock n’ roll cliché. His images reflect modest and sincere vignettes of life on and off the road. In his work, stark realism unfolds into a contemplative snapshot. An artist and musician, Zinner has been successful orbiting both spheres of his unique life. He plays guitar in the twice-Grammy nominated rock band Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Three books of his photography have been published – recently: "I Hope You Are All Happy Now" (St.Martin's Press). He studied photography at Bard College and has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. His photos have appeared in magazines such as Vice, Rolling Stone, Spin, GQ, and Nylon. “Its OK, Don’t Look at the Road,” photographs by Nick Zinner runs August 16 through September 13, 2008, at Fuse Gallery, 93 2nd Ave (between 5th & 6th Sts, 2nd Ave stop on the F), NYC, NY. The opening reception, on Saturday, August 16th, from 7 to 10 pm, is free and open to the public.
