Reeling 2008: The 27th Chicago Lesbian & Gay International Film Festival will launch November 6th and run through the 15th, armed with groundbreaking gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender films from all over the world. Reeling will take place at Landmark's Century Centre Cinema (2828 N. Clark St.), Film Row Cinema (Columbia College, 1104 S. Wabash Ave.), and Center on Halsted (3656 N. Halsted St.), in addition to the Festival's home base at Chicago Filmmakers (5243 N. Clark St.). Additional venues will be confirmed at a later date. As the second-oldest LGBT film festival in the world, Reeling continues to push boundaries and keep its programming fresh by presenting work from multi-global perspectives and in genres ranging from insightful experimental to romantic comedy. Our mission is to recognize the important artistic contributions LGBT filmmakers have made to our culture and to counteract stereotyping with valid, meaningful, and diverse portrayals of LGBT people. This year's Opening Night Film will be Breakfast with Scot, a touching and spirited feature that takes a comical look at coming out and redefining the meaning of family. Starring Thomas Cavanagh (Ed and Scrubs) and Ben Shenkman (Angels in America), it is sure to be a gay festival favorite! Reeling is planning a number of special events in conjunction with the films, keeping the party going long after the credits have stopped rolling. In addition to our features and short films, this year we are exploring new terrain with "Rock Reeling," a music video category to give recognition to the indie queer music frontier. Presenting sponsors for Reeling 2008 are Showtime and Comcast. Other sponsors will be confirmed at a later date. The Festival's complete line-up will be announced the week of September 22nd. Tickets will be available for purchase beginning in mid-October. Information on the Festival will be available at firstname.lastname@example.org and www.reelingfilmfestival.org.
