The Grrrlz Are Coming To Rock
Grrrlz Rock! 2008 Rocks Lane County in November
The boys need to step aside. The Grrrlzare coming and they are ready to rock.
Lane County makes history with the 3rd annual Grrrlz Rock! Concert Series. The largest event of its kind that we know of, nearly 50 female-led bands, speakers, dancers, filmmakers and comedians dominate the stage and inspire audiences through the month of November.
"Each night's showbill includes short sets from a variety of acts. That's on purpose," says Grrrlz Rock! Founder Cindy Ingram. "If you buy a ticket to hear a favorite local band, you get to learn about three, or four, or five others and get to support new artists just starting out."
Grrrlz Rock! is a movement of collaboration and connection. Acts get a chance to play for new audiences and female musicians get a chance to meet each other and learn from each other's experiences.
"As a woman in this industry, I want to support women and encourage development of them as musicians and professionals," Ingram continues.
Ingram and the multitude of volunteers, interns, sponsors and community partners are always looking to make the event bigger and better. In addition to the much-loved music and dance focused events and a big guitar give-away, this year's schedule includes musical theatre, jam sessions and a panel discussion along with several new venues: The Tango Center, Luckey's and
Davis.
