Date: Thursday, November 17, 2011 At 10:30 AM
Duration: 3 Hours 30 Minutes
This training aims to encourage "body literacy," a woman’s ability to read, interpret, and comprehend the signs related to her menstrual cycle. This knowledge can serve as a foundation for lifelong sexual and reproductive choices. We will learn the Justisse Method of Fertility Awareness, which teaches a woman to chart her menstrual cycle by noting signs of fertility and taking her temperature. The Training will offer an overview of Fertility Awareness Methods (FAM), explaining the differences between retrospective methods of fertility awareness (Rhythm/Calendar method) and Sympto-Thermal methods (Billings Method, Justisse Method) and their rates of efficacy. We will also discuss the menstrual cycle and the effects of estrogen and progesterone on the body. At the end of the workshop, participants will have an understanding of the male and female reproductive systems, normal parameters of the menstrual cycle, and how to avoid or achieve pregnancy.
All trainings take place at Planned Parenthood of New York City, 26 Bleecker Street, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10012.
