Jewels, you have some issues...man really.. you do. Arent many of us battling the two at the same time or back and forth? So, maybe you should start your own page. Your the only one that I hear complaining. Give me a damn break.. There are 200 different yeast strains...do you know that you don't have a one of them? Honestly, I hope you don't. Really. But like I have read tonight, just because you don't burn or itch or have cottage cheese..doesn't mean your body isnt invaded by them. They kill good bacteria too. They crowd em out.

Please accept my apologies for what I am about to say, but I for one am really grateful for Jewels and her posting on this site. She has agreed to be somewhat of a guinea pig with the vaginal flagyl, and just offers her opinions and experiences for the rest of us to have something to go on. All of this infighting and name calling reminds me of some high school BS... Jewels, please don't give up on this site and those of us who want to hear what you have to say. Peace (and I mean that sincerely).

Hey, Jennifer. Welcome (although unfortunate ) to the board! You and I are probably the youngest ones here! I'm 21 and started on my bv trek about 2 or 3 months ago although I know I've had it for much longer. I believe I "contracted" it at the same time I got warts from my ex bf. We had sex once and that was enough to give me a raging outbreak from hell! The warts are gone but it seems the bv will stay with me as a lingering reminder of that awful mistake. I also have high risk hpv. I had to have a precancerous condition removed from my vulva via laser over a year ago and now I'm showing changes on my cervix. I do believe there is no doubt that HPV and BV are related.

I have found a little bit of hope today. A woman at the yahoo bv support group told me that she was able to clear her infection with a 14 day course of Flagyl and the infection hasn't come back yet. Although I don't know how long she has been free from infection at least I know that there is a chance I can get rid of this burden even for a short time. My symptoms have been relentless for the past 3 months. I want this stuff gone!

Hi Morphia, doesn't it just suck being a woman sometimes?? Men have no idea what women have to deal with. I was told I had hpv last year and had to have a leep procedure in May 06. I had repeat paps and everything was coming back good. My last pap however, showed signs of hpv (low-grade) and now I am having my second colposcopy this month to see if I need another leep done sad.gif I have been having bv every month and the only way I know that it is occurring is if I try to have sex because it burns horribly. I don't really get discharge or smell. If it's a bad month then I will have a little discharge. I have been tested repeatedly for every STD know to man and I have nothing (besides the hpv). I really wish doctors would try a little harder to find a cure...there has to be something out there besides tons and tons of flagyl.

By the way, I thought I read that you had the same symptoms as me...the burning. Do you ever get any other symptoms besides the burning?

Well, this forum is for B.V. it specifically says so. BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS OR EMBARRASING BAD SMELL. Does the Bust Lounge have a Yeast infection forum??

I understand your concern. And trust me. I'm 38yrs old. Ok.... I have 4 kids, and I've been suffering from this shit for a long time. I know what triggers mine, which for me is sex, OR BETTER YET, to much of it.

I do have my ovaries which still produce hormones, estrogen and whatever else. I don't have a cervix or uterus, hence no periods. Is what I'm doing going to heal me? HELL NO. I'm just as interested in a CURE as anyone else on this board. But, I won't wait around for a cure, when I have something right here right now that's working. I'll continue my search, just as you all are. But in the mean time. I have no B.V. I don't smell itty bitty fish heads popping their heads through my vagina, and what little sex I have, well, it's stress free.

So....that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.... wink.gif

K, check this out. Finally found something online that speaks of putting the Flagyl in vaginally. They call it Flagyl Vaginal Tablets

HERE'S THE WEBISTE

http://www.healthtouch.com/bin/EContent_HT...inal&cid=HT

For vaginal tablets dosage form:
For bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis:
Adults and teenagers—One 500-mg tablet, inserted high into the vagina. Use the medicine once a day in the evening for ten or twenty days.

*****I personally only use for 2 days. That's all I need.

Maybe...maybe not. But, it's working. And my doctor hasn't said to stop doing it. And why are you so angry. I was just giving my opinion. Damn.... AND YOUR SOLUTION IS WHAT???? Oh yeah, that's right, you don't have one.

Edit: I've only had to use the Flagyl vaginally twice, in the last 5 months. So, to me....that's worth it.

Jewels, I'm not angry. I'm worried! I don't trust doctors, most just want a paycheck like everyone else. And while your doctor may seem very interested and helpful..some are really good at acting like they give a fuck. They want your business like everyone else......

Your right, I don't have a solution, but I don't want make things worse. I'm really concerned about all of us and the fact that doctors aren't doing tests to be sure of what it is that they are even dealing with. A wiff test tells them we have bv. so the fuck what...what other bacterias are there in it. I have already read an article about a girl with reoccuring bv, (a virgin) and the bacteria that was causing it for her was from a damn ear infection that somehow managed to get down in her genitals. I'm saying we need to know more than just assuming its the most "popular" bacteria before treating it. Tonight, I have been reading about yeast, and discovering some scary ass shit!!!

I remember you saying that all you have left are your ovaries right? So do you still have estrogen? ( I don't know much about your history. but yeast feed off of estrogen, just so you know. (concerned, I'm very concerned.

Well, so far my bv is not recurring. It is resistant. As in the last two rounds of antibiotics didn't get rid of it at all. The seven days of Flagyl helped. It helped enough that I was able to have sex once. lol. Which is why I have hope that the 14 day course may eradicate it. At least for a short period of time. A temporal solution for me right now is better than no solution at all.

I don't think it's a good idea to keep sticking crap up your twat...yeast can grow at an acidic level of 2.5 through basic 7.5. Your gonna be shit out of luck when the bacteria and yeast become resistant to your short term solution. But that's just my opinion.

One thing my doctor did say is that a low ph is consistent with yeast. I didn't really believe him at first, but there may be some truth to it after all.

Yeast are not as innocent as everyone thinks..can be very dangerous, and can become as resistant as bacteria. We need to split this group up on our research. I'm not interested in a short term solution. What are we all gonna do when the all antibotics fail?

Does anyone know if the metro gel and flagyl contain aluminum? I'm scared to ask.

If you have true, re-occuring B.V., I hate to be the barrier of bad news, but the Flagyl, orally, won't work. It will VERY temporarily, but you will get a yeast infection, and your B.V. will return. If this is a one time case for you, then you might get lucky and it will work.

For me, Flagyl vaginally is the ONLY solution right now. Mine is gone. And, I'm not doing any preventative either.

I've had reoccuring B.V. now for 5 going on 6 yrs. And this is the first time, I've gone MONTHS, with no smell. Even after sex.

So...The solutions are here girls, Flagyl Vaginally, Estroil, and maybe 1 or two others. All these other remedies you all are trying, are not going to work, IN THE LONG RUN. AND THAT'S JUST MY OPPINION!!!!

Hi there all, I just finished my period and I've been using the boric acid during, which helps with the smell. So now it is a few days after and I checked my ph yesterday and it was back to acidic, but I went out yesterday and had some drinks (alcohol) and when I checked the ph this morning it was heading back towards basic and I have that slight ammonia smell and wetness. F%ck!!!!!! So I am going to break down and use the flagyl vaginally tonight. I am a little worried about a rebound infection, but WTF, I will deal with that if it happens. Luckily (?) I am not sexually active right now....I hope the flagyl works...

Go right now and read this article about yeast infections that I just found I don't know how to attach links but I will list the name of the article and hopefully you can find it...I think it will help you!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can't find it...I am having a friend that is coming over tommorow that is giving me some computer dumbass training 101. Let me know if your doctors have already researched these rare strains of yeast and get back to me.

Your mother can pass many rare strains of yeast to you!

The V Book chapter 10 separating the truth from the popular beliefs...read the whold article.

by the way... the antibiotic i'm on for the UTI is Septra. has anyone used that before? bad? good? i'm really sceptical about antibiotics now.

I used septra....the uti is gone..for now....I'm gonna check with my doctor to see if he will get me some test strips to monitor for uti's. ( I know a friend who has them.) I go see him this friday. He's not doing my pap, he wants me to see a specialist...I'm hoping that he refers me to someone good. He's an older doctor that used to treat me as a child and my mother. He saved her life and diagnosed a disease she had when 7 other specialists kept telling her there wasn't anything wrong with her. The other doctor that I was seeing wouldn't listen to nothing I had to say...didn't want to take time to answer any questions..my blood pressure was 144 over 98..just put me prozac and sent me on my way. So of course since he didn't listen to anything else that I was concerned about, I sure as hell didn't mention the recoccuring BV.

I got some cranberry herbal supplements..thought it might be a good try since drinking cranberry juice with sugar isnt the best choice.

Do these bacteria just migrate back and forth?

i could have told you that... sorry i didn't! there have been a few times when i had pap smears and i had some bleading afterwards and it's usually brown. and spotting between periods... also brown. it's normal.

Well, the thing is its not old blood. Its new blood. I thought that it was old blood because it was brown on my underwear. It wasn't until I actually looked at my vag that I realized it wasn't so old after all. Looks like I'll be making another trip to the doc tomorrow! Woooohooooooooooo!

It turns out that my watery discharge probably wasn't discharge to begin with. Its been three days since my colpo and it turns out that I am bleeding! It was brown in my underwear, but red on my vagina! I called the doctor and he told me that if its bright red (it is, which is exactly why I called in the first place) and it hasn't stopped by tomorrow, to come in and they'll have to "retreat" me. God...I hate my vagina. I'm probably going to take FOR-EV-ER to heal.
