I bought a copy of Jem: the Movie on dvd from ebay! I'm sure I will be disappointed and nostalgia isn't what it used to be but I'm so excited to see it after so many years! OMG, bunny, please tell me you've seen this youtube clip -- jem 'covering' le tigre's "deceptacon" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEqmC1q9Sow |

omg... i used to have the biggest crush on lisa lisa. i love that electro/freestyle sound. *sigh* all cried out? soooo good.
LL& cult jam's head to toe or i wonder if i take you home, noel's silent morning, mantronik, shannon's let the music play or give me tonite expose's past the point of no return or come go with me, nu shooz' i can't wait or point of no return, company b's fascinated i love talk talk, and i hated gwen stephani... until she did one of their songs. she killed it. i have a lot of this on vinyl, thank maude, but digital display and oh sheila are always on my best friends mp3 player. and i was giggling with mr.t about some of the over the top lines that used to be on albums by the time. "do you always carry lingerie in your glove compartment?" "what should i put in there? i don't wear gloves." i find myself singing "gigolos get lonely too." that, is a great, silly song. but it is so good. you know what i miss? eric b & rakim art of noise's close to the edit. -------------------- "what a swell farewell party! we said goodbye to everything, including the lining in my stomach." - garvey, from the film, born bad "That's one career all females have in common, whether we like it or not: being a woman. OMG. The Jets. For my thirteenth birthday my parents took me to Pizza Hut & I got the Jets TAPE as a gift. I LURVED IT!
Lisa Lisa reminds me of sitting on my best friend at the time's porch & chilling. HBO per the norm started hyping Fraggle Rock months before it started. I was so excited! I was playing Barbies with my friend across the alley the day it debuted & I remember coming into the house to check the time so we wouldn't miss it. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. I bought a copy of The Wizard earlier this year to watch with my brother. We both enjoyed it, thought some parts were cheesy, and saw it for what it was: a hour-and-a-half Nintendo commercial.
A radio station played The Jets' Crush on You, and I had never heard it before, feeling so elated and happy. |

I just this summer gave all my t-shirts that I have cut off the cuffs and bottoms and have had since the 80's away. I still say groody to the max and gag me with a ginsu as opposed to gag me with a spoon. Also have a copy of Zappa's Valley girl on vinyl. |

Omg, Bunny, I used to love Jem!!
Mr K and I recently rented the Dark Crystal....does anyone remember that movie? It holds up surpisingly well. I completely forgot about Samantha Fox! I remember that she was "naughty." She was the dirty Debbie Gibson. "Let the music play"....total skating song! What about that song "Oh Sheila"? I hear that one the other day, and must admit I enjoyed it. |

I currently have Psychedelic Furs' Mirror Moves on rotation in my car stereo. It's actually been in there all summer, along with Talk Talk's best-of and A Flock of Seagulls, which I finally took out about a month ago. They're standards for me in early summer.

So this morning I was listening to Shannon's 'Let the Music Play' and Alexander O'Neal's 'Criticize' enroute to work. What? They put a spring in my step and got me out of the house...

I adore the Last Dragon.
I mean, Vanity... who's ur master?... wonderful 80's fashion...one of my favorites. Ya know, when I was much younger... my vocal teacher told me that I sounded like Bernadette Peters at first... as if that were a bad thing! lol |

Ha ha, I forgot about that trumpet part in The Jerk! Bernadette is one of my faves because of that movie too : )~ She was in a recent episode of Boston Legal playing a Judge who required attorney Alan Shore to drop his pants for her in her chamber before she would rule in his favor, tee hee

Okay, now I love Annie too! So glad to be pointed in the direction so thanks everyone ; ) By the way, you didn't tell me Tim Curry and Bernadette Peters were in it! Anywho, it was very funny and I wish I had seen it when I was little. Also I *loved* the music and would adore seeing it live...
Oh and thanks musicfit for calling me out! Yes, I suppose I am a bit older than some of you. Now hurry up and catch up so I don't feel so ancient : P Yes, Samantha Fox was very racy...don't forget she also sang that song "Touch me, touch me, I wanna feel your body...touch me, touch me now!" Such a classy lady, I really miss her |

Samantha Fox sang 'Naughty Girl's Need Love Too' didn't she?
she was like, the '80's version of a slutified Christina Auguilera (who I find myself liking now that she's cleaned herself up & found some self-respect) but she also (to me anyway) looked a lot like the blond snotty rich girl that played on the sitcom Newhart and so I was always a little confused.. like maybe that was just her day job and at night -------------------- I'm gonna let it shine

Well, I am Jan, you are a little older than we are. I was about 6 when Annie the movie came out. I think that was the age I was when I saw it at the theaters. I was probably more apt to be interested in it since I was very little.
Does anyone remember Samantha Fox? All the annoying popular girls used to dance in the middle of the dance floor in the 7th grade whenever her songs came on. Oh. And "Push it." I was into Tiger Beat when I was a Monkeys fanatic (via Nick at Nite) and when I was a New Kids on the Block fanatic at age 13. |
