Morphia i also used the HP. i am not sure how you did yours, but for mine i used a small needleless syringe. i mixed about 1/4 c of hp with abt 1/8 cup of water, and used the syringe to douche, very slowly, until i had used almost all of the solution. then i would use the rest to disinfect the syringe. it worked very well. no itching or burning, so if you didnt use a syringe you might want to try that so you can bypass the outer part of your vag altogether. anyways after that i would take one fem d orally and insert one vaginally. my period came down and i continued to use the exact same method, because my Bv is absolutely disgusting during my cycle, and even tho it was a bit gross having gobs of brown foam dropping out of me, my coochie didnt smell during my period. i did all this for abt a week and a half, but ive been taking the fem d longer then that.this was my first full cycle of fem d. i have been out of it for two days, and there is still no smell. im a bit feaked out by it because i just cant believe i am curing myself! i have had BV off and on(mostly on) since i was 15, and im 22 so its not like this was my first occurence. the hp def helped kill off the bad bv bact although i ran out of that as well so i havent been able to continue my little method. but the probiotics were just as, if not more important. like flagyl the HP will kill the bad bact. as well as the good, so if you are not using probiotics your Bv wont go away completely, and i suppose its possible that you could get a yeast infection as well...

i've never used peroxide, but it sounds like you might have started to kill everything off, didn't quite get it all, and it came back stronger than before. that always happens to me with freaking yeast, i'd think BV would be similar. good luck at the appointment- let me know what she said, now i'm super curious about h2o2!
at my lunch break i'm going to break down and call my OB/GYN and see if i can get in to see someone. i had thought mine was going away, but now i have this bloated/pressure-y feeling along with all the other symptoms, and i'm starting to get concerned. i'm COMPLETELY embarrassed though because when this started to come back last week, i was in the middle of the ol' semi-monthly body hair maintenance. i usually go bare down yonder, but i'm a wuss so i have to wax it over a few days, not all at once. when my symptoms started coming back, i stopped. so now it looks like i have mange or something. |

Hey, ladies. LOOOOOOOOONG time no talk. I have a really big problem here. I was never keen ]on the idea of using hydrogen peroxide in that area until my obgyn/oncologist told me to. So thats what I did. I did it twice and it did seem to be getting rid of the bv (less discharge/no smell) but now the insides of the lips "down thur" itch so bad. And they burn and are sore. It feels like I have a yeast infection but there is no sign of any yeasty discharge or anything. Just my usual BV discharge. I was hoping that maybe it was just irritation from using the HP but the last time I used it was sunday morning and the problem doesn't seem to be getting any better. On top of this itchy/burny/sore problem my bv seems to be coming back with a vengeance.
Did anyone else have an experience like this from using HP? Is this a common occurrence? What the hell could be going on? I do have an appointment with my doc's nurse practitioner later today but I'm afraid she's not going to see anything under the microscope, which is a common occurrence with me. I have all of the symptoms but rarely do any yeast or clue cells show up. Anyway, sorry this was so long. I hope everyone is doing well! |

i'm so afraid that now that i've had one, i'm going to be stuck in the anything's-gonna-set-another one-off loop like i have been with yeast for the past decade. um. that's all. no questions or comments. just sittin' here pontificating my vag... |

Has anyone tried the product Candaclear? It is an acidophilus suppository many use for bacterial vaginosis and also yeast infections. A lot of people online liked it so I tried it. It burned and irritated me so bad .... I was hoping that this product would help with my lingering irritation, but it made it worse. Just curious. Yes! It did the same to me! Two years ago, I tried it for a mixed BV/yeast infection & it sure didn't help! I had purchased several boxes & threw them all out. $ down the drain... Maggie C. |

Has anyone tried the product Candaclear? It is an acidophilus suppository many use for bacterial vaginosis and also yeast infections. A lot of people online liked it so I tried it. It burned and irritated me so bad that four days later I tried sitting in a tub of water with baking soda and then the heavy discharge began. A week later and I am still burning. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar reaction and what made it better. I have tried almost everything for my reoccuring bacterial infections. I had a complete culture done before the candaclear and it showed nothing. I was hoping that this product would help with my lingering irritation, but it made it worse. Just curious.

so what are you doing specifically to help banish your problem? I never really had Bacterial Vaginosis, although I thought I did until I went to my Gynecologist and she said I had 2 or 3 different species of non-albican yeast. My gynecologist also wrote, The V Book, you should definitely read it or borrow it from a library sometime. It's a really informative book that gives great advice on gynecological problems. What she prescribed me was Boric Acid for 14 days which eventually killed the infection. The type of yeast infection I had was so similar to Bacterial Vaginosis. It had an odor, not fishy but really strong and briny. And it had a normal looking discharge, at times it looked clear and then at other times it was white-ish. The only homeopathic treatment that worked for me was taking a daily round of Acidophilus that my General Practitioner recommended to me, taking the Acidophilus really helped, I noticed results within a few days. It had 3 billion live cultures and didn't need to be refrigerated because it was in a pearl form. Other than that I take Vitamin A, Vitamin C and a daily multivitamin to keep away any reoccurring infections. Since then I only had one reoccurring infection and it went away on it's own after I took 5 rounds of garlic and cranberry caplets. Did you find anything that has worked for you? |

i'm guessing tea tree oil: http://herbalmusings.com/tea_tree_oil.htm i luuuurrrrve tea tree oil. i've been apprehensive to try it for my BV, because i'm not gonna lie- it stings like the dickins. i've used it to treat yeast infections when i've felt them coming on, and it combo with yogurt and acidophilus usually stops them in their tracks. when i feel one of those huge cyst-like "under the skin" zits coming on, i start dabbing on tto and they never fully develop. |

quietmadness, just do a search, and you'll find it. All though, if you used the Metro-gel the last 3 times, you might want to switch it up to something else. Remember, try to figure out what it is that's triggering it, and do some preventative maintenance!! TTO is great, not a cure, just helpfull! what is TTO? |

Here is an additional reliable source that I have found regarding Pau d'arco and it's benefits.

I've been doing research on Bacterial Vaginosis. What I found was very interesting. I found out that Pau d'arco tea is proven to help treat Bacterial Vaginosis or even cure it depending on the severity of the infection. It is even recognized by the American Cancer Association for it's benefits.
For anyone that is trying to find something that works, Pau d'arco may be what your looking for. http://www.cancer.org/docroot/ETO/content/...X_Pau_DArco.asp http://www.umm.edu/altmed/articles/pau-darco-000268.htm |

hi all!! first of all, i can't believe i've never been to the forums here. i read the mag, visit the site, browse/shop via the links page, but it wasn't until i googled "BV and SEX" in my current minor state of panic that i even thought about hanging out in the forums. i'm a freaking genius, i know right. so. late august i thought i had a yeast infection from a course of antibiotics i had just finished for an infected burn, because i ALWAYS get yeast infections when i have to take antibiotics for ear and sinus infections. my usual drugstore cure wasn't working though, so i finally couldn't take it and went to my ob/gyn. turns out i had BV (of the gardnerella variety). i was surprised, i'm 33 and never had it or any symptoms- he thought it was probably because the antibiotics DID give me yeast, but my normal cure didn't work because it was an extremely strong abtibiotic, and i only managed to screw up my ph enough to cause mass bacterial pandemonium (in my words, not his of course). he gave me metrogel, and after the requisite being completely grossed out by the Random Metrogel Patented White Gooey String Effect that lasted a couple days after i finished the course, all seemed to be well. last week though i started feeling itchy and burny (the unsuccessful spinoff of "Itchy & Scratchy"). once again i thought it was yeast, and started my yogurt and acidophilous routine, which usually kills it if i catch it in the first couple of days. i was feeling fine, until tonight- and here's where we reach TMI status... so tonight i was enjoying a solo Friday night at home with a few toys *wink wink nudge nudge know what i mean*. when i was done i noticed a little burning, and spots of blood on the sheets. needless to say i completely freaked the hell out- that's never happened before. i have NEVER bled during or after sex- not when i lost my virginity or after any particularly intense sessions- NEVER. and this was bright, fresh blood- not like anything brown or thick that may have been left over from my period for some reason. and now it feels like my vagina and vulva are on freaking fire. after cleaning up, i came online and started looking for culprits. i've never bled from yeast before no matter how much i scratched or made things worse, so i looked up any combo of BV or vaginosis/isis gardnerella and vaginal bleeding/bloody discharge. the only things i find that mention bacteria and bleeding immediately after sex are reference to cervicitis. GAH!!! before i start freaking out that now it's moved up THERE, has ANYONE ever had bleeding like that from BV alone?! has anyone gotten cervcitis from BV?? i've tried to search the thread but keep getting an error message, sorry if it's been covered before. i am 100% most definitely going to call my OB/GYN first thing monday morning- there is positively no doubt about that. but monday seems like a looooooong way away right now... okay. i think i'm done now. thanks in advance, everybody, i'm looking forward to becoming a part of the baords! You may have inflammation. (the unsuccessful spinoff of "Itchy & Scratchy") <---- I just lol. You are funny. Welcome to the board! |

Good morning to everyone! I am new here Here is my story.... I went for my annual in July...doc called me a few days later and said I had a BV...however I didn't feel like I did...it was just a check-up in the first place. Needless to say...I never picked up the script b/c I felt fine. Last week I started having symptoms...to me it was a typical BV. I used to get them often (2 x yr) when I was younger/not married/& using condoms. I called the doc and they called me in Metrogel. This stuff is so freaking disgusting...it gets clumpy, slimy, thick, nastiness.... I am wondering if this is how it is for everyone, or did I have a bad reaction to it? I feel like the problem is WORSE now!!! I don't have an odor...but an irritation and a periodic itch from hell So I am going to the doctor today and I want to be armed with info so I get the right meds! Here is a (not so) funny story about my doctor before i go.... one time i had an "issue"..it was one spot that was really bothering me...no d/c or anything...just this one spot down there...went to the doc...keep in mind i am married and monogomus....he worked me up for everything...and told me it looks like HERPES...he was not sure b/c he had to send the test out but he really thought that's what it was....wtf...herpes??? i was going to KILL my husband...then i said...is there ANY chance i could have cut myself, or just have a sensitive irritaiton right there? he agreed yes it was possible...THEN WHY DIDN'T HE FREAKING SAY THAT FIRST...good thoughts before bad news...DUHHHHHHHHHH. turns out i never had herpes have a great day ladies Hun, You had better take info with you cause docs love to give false diagnosis. They would diagnose me with something, then call me back and say "no, it's not this but this". Then they call you back again and say "well, since it didn't go away, I'm sure you have this". Then you get frustrated and go to someone else and THEY do the same thing. I kept telling them it was my hormones but NOooooo they can't take the patients word for it. So yeah, being armed with info is a great idea. The Herpes thing is funny. I had one doc tell me that I had cancer before doing tests. I worried a couple of days then I got the call I didn't. So, I know how you feel. I understand doctor's are human but they should really do tests first before giving out the bad news. Another thing, everytime I went to a new doc and told them my problems, the first thing they wanted to test for was HIV. I've had over 10 hiv tests and every time I would tell them I've been tested for that already. That and all std tests but you know what tihngs are 100% better now. I've lost a considerable amount of weight ( I was 197lbs to be exact but lost like 30lbs), my acne is 85% better, I don't grow hair out of my chiny chin chin, I can wear thongs instead of granny panties, I date a guy and am still able to keep my husband and guess what they both know each other and have recently met. HAHAHAHAHAHA......I'm back to normal and life s much better. |

I found another forum that discusses chronic BV. And one woman said she had luck with folic acid. Here's a link to the forum.

IHATEMetroGel: It sounds like the one dose medication you are talking about is Clindeese. I don't think it is available at all anymore because it can actually cause you to get vaginal strep B (correct me if I'm wrong ladies, I don't remember the specifics on this.) As for your doctor, he doesn't sound that great to me...
