Hey guys!!! It has been SOOOOOO long since I've been here so I apologize if this has already been mentioned.
I was wondering if vitamin D plays a role in vaginal infections??? I've been taming my bv ( keeping it controlled, still always there though) by using one TTO a week as well as one gram of premarin cream a week. Well, just recently I was found to be extremely vitamin D deficient and have been put on prescription strength supplements. I'm hoping that this will be the cure for my Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as well as THE BV. Although I'm not keeping my hopes up too much. Anyone here heard of a link between bv and vitamin D? If not, getting checked for a deficiency might not be a bad idea. |

Thanks for all of the corgrats!! I am very excited! I haven taken the Flagyl since Sept of last year. It is the metrogel that I have been using. I know I have used it atleast once since I got pregnant (not knowing I was) but have stopped since. The funny thing is, I went to CVS and refilled the script for the gel and bought a pregnancy test at the same time Great that you aren't using it anymore, because both Flagyl and Metrogel are metronidazole. Just different trademarks for the same chemical. It's probably fine that you used it one time, but wait to see what your doctor says, I'm sure he will say to stop using it. Congratulations!!! What great news! Stop taking the Flagyl if you are pregnant. I was just looking on the Flagyl website, well, the Pfizer company website, and they tell you to NOT use it for the first trimester of pregnancy. Hi everyone, So, I just found out that I am pregnant. I have been BV free for almost 8 months but I know it is because I have been using metro gel twice a week for the past 6 months and then before that I did 21 days of BA and 10 days of Flagyl. I go back to the specialist next week but they did tell me to stop with the gel until then. Has anyone been pregnant with BV? I am just curious if it will come back more often because of the change in hormones. Any suggestions or info?? Congratulations!!! What great news! Stop taking the Flagyl if you are pregnant. hi girls well, i haven't been reading here or posting....sadly not because i am BV free, but because I have been kinda busy. I have been taking fem doph and acidopholus for about 2 weeks now, and i don't notice any major difference. today my discharge was unusually watery. i can't describe the smell. it is really itchy down there, kind of swollen and sore. I hate this Hi, I would give the femdophilus a chance, and try to keep taking it. I know it is frustrating, and expensive, but it seems to be working for me, and a few others here. But you mention you are taking femdoph and acidophilus.. are you taking them at the same time together? Because I think it is maybe better to take them separately. Cycle them. For example, take the femdoph for two weeks, then for one week take the other. Because they may be canceling each other out. The probiotics are alive. They have different names because they are different strains of bacteria with different behaviours and different benefits. They are probably all good - but for different things. Think of them as different tribes of bacteria that sometimes work together well depending on the strains, or they can fight each other. And our intention of taking these probiotics is that you give them a chance to get down there into your body. Once in your body they take hold and hang on to the mucous membranes of your intestines and vaginal walls, thereby making it their territory. But if you are ingesting other types of acidophilus at the same time, they may not get a chance to take hold and plant their feet in. Kind of like 'first come, first serve'. If the others take hold of the real estate, the reuteri won't have a place to hang on to. |

Whew! K I finished reading the posts since I last checked in.
So, I just found out that I am pregnant..........Has anyone been pregnant with BV? I am just curious if it will come back more often because of the change in hormones. Any suggestions or info?? Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you!!! Awwww now you brought me back to having those pregnancy happy vibes! I must welcome the Newbies: SmellslikeNirvana, Cuteness, Neptune. Hey ya’ll!!! And hi to Autumnbreeze too!! Kristen: your posts are hilarious! Maggie: Thanks for suggesting to half the TTO suppositories. This has definitely worked well for me, my pocketbook thanks you too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Update, update!! Ok actually it’s just the same old, same old. I smell like TTO. But hey ladies I aint complaining one bit. In fact I haven’t used them at all the last couple days (budget wise I had to give it up for a few days) and I don’t smell like anything. No whiffs. So it’s all good in the neighborhood if you know what I mean. I am trying not to cuss out my vagina, she tends to retaliate. Actually I realize my friends don’t even know about the BV, I thought perhaps they MIGHT have but nope, damn they get outspoken a lot. I mean I do too but not if it would hurt someone. Anyway they would totally discuss it loudly as if we all really need to hear. At that point I think we can all agree we’d all go ape-shit crazy if someone makes fun of us for THIS. I can take crap about a lot of things but THIS I get sensitive about. Anyway you all are making me want to buy the FemD again and give it a second shot simply because everything is going so well, I want to make sure it stays that way. Oh and Mg86, do you have insurance? That is a lot of money to be spending a month. This BV crap is expensive!!!!!!!! I don't want to tally up all the money I've spent due to BV, I'd probably cry. Well since it HAS been 10 months since you have gone to the doctor, well my opinion would be for you to go back especially considering you said you are sore. |

Wow CONGRATS! Were you using progesterone? As far as pregnancy with BV, the BV should be far less or even go away if your problems are hormonal (ex: not enough estrogen). Before I had my miscarriage, the BV went away completely, but after, the bv came back. So, that's how I figurerd out my problems were hormonal. I believe it was the generic MetroGel. I just threw away the package and sis not get a refill. I know sometimes pregnancy can be the cure all. Hopefully this will be the case. When I was younger I was diagnosed with HPV and as soon as I had my first daughter it went away and I have not had it since. |

Lisa I have taken the fem d for over a year it has helped but I have had to use other things as well, I also use the Yeast arrest and it has helped CONTROL the symptoms. However the only side effect is that for about 24 hours after using the yeast arrest I have this weird yellow brown mixed with oregeno discharge. The discharge is from the herbs in the yeast arrest so it isn't a bad thing that you see that but I was glad I had a heads up about it before I started using it. I have not found anything that actually cures the BV only helps control the symptoms. I use the yeast arrest everyday to everyother day and I have no smell and no discharge. I have also stayed on folic acid and a B complex even though that alone didn't help me, I went through several rounds of flagyl and clindamycin and within a week after taking them symptoms were back I started the fem d and antibiotics when the MD first told me I had BV I am tired of taking the antibiotics and that is when I found this site my MD had already told me about boric acid I now have everything to make the caps but am finishing up the yeast arrest first I am hoping the boric acid has the same effect without the herb discharge Question: When you take the yeast arrest, the discharge u have... is it just the herb discharge or is it both that and the regular BV discharge? Cause I'm having both,(by the way, both discharge together is sooooo disgusting) but I've only been taking the yeast arrest for 3 days now. Is the BV discharge suppose to go away the very first day you use it? |

I've been using the FemD for about 3 months and have been healthy since! I finished MetroGel and immediately began the FemD! I think that's the way to do it! I feel great!
I also switched from a low dose pill to a regular dose pill as I immediately started having problems when I went on a low dose pill. However, I've only been on the new pill for about a week. BTW, sometimes we're going to smell from our groin area! Just like an armpit, the skin rubs together and sweats!! At the end of the day, you're obviously not going to be 100% smelling like roses......just as long as your discharge is odorless, that is all that matters....The V Book evens says sometimes our discharge can have a slight smell.....but, there definitely is a distinct BV smell. |

you're right. But its so common now that guys just think girls smell like that down there and that's why vaginas have such a bad rep. Right now the smell has definitely gone from Strong to very very mild..with Fem D. but I just want it to go away. If i stop taking birth control the smell will go away but there is no way I can avoid my damn period!

So it seems to be that a lot of you ladies have used the fem d and it works sometimes and then it doesnt.
Has anyone had any consistent success. Im sure once the problem goes away some of the members stop writing to this blog. I probably would.... lol Id be so happy i would be busy having sex with my boyfriend. Its so heartbreaking to read the blogs especially the one where there is instant success and then it comes back even worse. My relationship has gone to shit because im too embarressed to have sex. I wouldnt even know how to explain this to him.... you know guys, odor down there is just gross to them and they just assume we dont shower and we just let it fester.... sorry for venting. this is so fucking hard! |

KONPHUSION: I got your post from ther other forum.
Greetings bustie beauties. I've now been bleeding for a month!! non-stop heavy "spotting" is the best way to describe it. The doctor examined me Thursday and pretty much off the record told me I have PCOS with inuslin resistance- and that is probably what is causing the bleeding and acne. I feel like i'm goin thru puberty all over again with all these spots on my face. YUCK. Since I'm being treated for some another issue, she didnt want to start me on any meds for the bleeding yet. My options are Provera or Glucophage. Provera, she said could possibly "reboot" my hormones and my cycle and get me back on track, however, its not guaranteed. The Glucophage (which is used for diabetics also) would treat the insulin resistance, help me lose weight, correct my hormones, and sounds like this would be the best option -- HOWEVER it is not known how long i would have to take this mess. Great! I dont know what to do. Has anyone had success with either of these treatments for PCOS?? I have to tell you that I had the same problems you are talking about and I got rid of this crap, acne and all, with estroil. NO SHIT! I wouldn't play. |

Hello Everyone ,
I haven't visited this thread in quite some time..Hello to all the old BV Heads and Welcome to the Newbies! My BV is normally pretty consistent but a few weeks ago it definitely kicked into a higher gear after sex. I was like WHOA!! Then I remembered that a lot of ladies in here complained about their BV getting worse or returning after sex. But that had never been my experience until now. I took some Flagyl and did an HP wash. That helped and now the BV is back to "normal" (oxymoron, I know). I'm currently taking probiotics..Ultimate Flora (I tried the Fem D some months ago but they just didn't work as well as these). Anyway, I'm concerned because I think my BV is becoming more resistant and remedies that used to work GOOD are now just OK. This was the first time I'd taken Flagyl in years so I can't blame it on traditional antibiotics. But I was taking Oregano Oil for a few months. My question is: Do you guys think that the "natural" antibiotics/antifungals (Tea Tree Oil, Oregano Oil, etc.) have the same affect as the pharmaceutical antibiotics in that they kill bacteria but continued use causes more problems (i.e. your body builds up a tolerance for it/bacteria becomes stronger & more resistant)? Is it OK to take these "natural" supplements for months or years at a time? I appreciate all feedback. Sorry if this has already been asked or discussed..it's been a while and I haven't read through all the posts yet. |
