lori - in your blog you talk about buying things at whole foods refrigerated. i went to my whole foods today and i can't find anything like that refrigerated. i know since we don't go to the same one you can't really help me but do you have any idea where in the store it would be? maybe mine just doesn't have it. dry.gif

or does anyone know?

ok well i called my doctor to make an appointment hoping i could go in today or tomorrow cause i'm itching and burning like crazyyyy. i did have sex last night though like a stupid idiot so that could be why it's worse today. well anyway, they didn't have anything till monday so i just said screw it i'm not waiting and i went and bought yeast arrest. i was hesitant to try that cause i don't want to deal with it leaking out in the summer cause it's beach time but i figure if i'm going to the beach i just won't use it in the morning and wait till after instead. so i just started it now. i figure if i have a yeast infection or bv or both this will help anyway so what's the harm. if it doesn't start to go away then i will go to the doctor. i was going to use the flagyl vaginally but since i'm burning/itching i thought it probably wasn't a good idea. so i'll keep updating and let everyone know how the yeast arrest works for me. i've also been taking azo yeast and i think i will start to take garlic cause it's recommended on the yeast arrest instructions.

morphia, i can't believe how much you've been through. that's horrible. i know how you feel though freaking out about the bv. i've had mine since august and when i finally decided to take matters into my own hands instead of listening to the doctors and did some research online i found this. i started at the beginning and read almost all of it and i cried every time i read it (it took me a few days to get through all of it) because i was so scared reading that people have had this for years and still haven't found a way to get rid of it (when i read it nobody really had found anything that worked very well yet.) so i understand how scary it is to realize that it could be something permanent that you'll always have to deal with and that doctors screwed you over. but now, since i've been dealing with it for about 10 months i just kind of calmed down cause i realized there are ways to deal with it and keep it away even if i have to do something for the rest of my life to keep it gone (i know that doesn't sound so good either but it's better than having bv all the time.) so i'm sure you'll realize that eventually too, just keep reminding yourself you have to find what works for you. and you will find something eventually. i think when you start getting emotional and freaking out just try and think you will figure it out eventually, it's just taking time. maybe that can help you to calm down. hope this helps a little bit, hang in there.

Lori, I've learned over the years that the higher the hopes the harder the fall. So I tend to keep mine pretty damn low. I'm always preparing myself for and expecting the worst. Believe it or not, its easier that way.

Okay.

I just read an article in a health magazine that BV is THE MOST COMMON vaginal problem in women. Then why....WHY can't the Medical community find something that works other than the antibiotics? What about the ones who cant take them, like me?

*sigh* No kidding.

Lori-
In regards to your BV blog, one thing I read on one of the many posts here was that Tetrasil ointment was recommended by several members. Having BV for 28 years myself, and willing to try anything, and have tried many many things, I tried this one. I bought it online, $26 with shipping. I tried it for the first time Monday. Inserted it several times monday and tues. Today, I think I am getting a raging yeast infection now. mad.gif
Now I will spend more money on an over the counter yeast cream, and then in a few days, be back to where I started, just minus approx $40 between the Tetrasil and the OTC yeast cream. (sigh) So......if you want to add this info to your blog, it may save another BV sufferer from the expense. My recommendation is: I DONT recommend it. So, I will continue to read the blogs and try things that seem promising to all of you, and hope and pray that something works. I just read an article in a health magazine that BV is THE MOST COMMON vaginal problem in women. Then why....WHY can't the Medical community find something that works other than the antibiotics? What about the ones who cant take them, like me?
Ok, sorry to go on and on. But, I wanted to pass this on to you for your blog.

Arj75: Has your town ever heard of HIPPA? Damn, people are soooo insensitive these days. Not only do you have to worry about the damn discharge but now you have to worry about folks thinking you have HIV. People think this shit is funny but it's honestly not. I had a rumor started about me like that and I wanted die but after a while I just said fuck it. Who cares!

At what point is it a vaginal emergency to go to the doctor? Planned parenthood rescheduled me in on the 30th.

Bummer.

Will PP see you if you have an emergency?

Didn't you say you had blood in your discharge? I'd say that's an emergency. Not to mention the fever.

Your appointment is in 2 weeks. My vote is that you should try to make it to PP or another doctor sooner, if at all possible.

Morphia, I can only imagine the grief and sadness that you must be experiencing right now, and just trying to empathize your pain is overwelming to me. If you have insurance, keep going to the doctor until you become a pain in their ass until they refer you to a specialist.

I'm worried about maybe having a staff infection or something, I have been running a low grade fever for the past few days. At what point is it a vaginal emergency to go to the doctor? Planned parenthood rescheduled me in on the 30th. I already used the refresh earlier because I thought I was finished.... I'm not going to the hospital at a small town where I live, I do know that.

My last visit at my gyno..the best place in my town to go, they were discussing my issues out in the hall, where everyone can hear... Loudly saying.. call the hospital make sure she was checked for HIV.. I don't have HIV, but you all can understand how rumors get started I'm sure.

A lawsuit a fucking brewing???? You better believe it, especially after giving me the devils drug.

After all that I've dealt with I have a fucking right to be as dramatic as I want to be. My entire youth has been nothing but one big gynecological problem. So you can shut the fuck up.

...

But...I think the flagyl worked.

I'm very sorry you've had so many gyno-problems. That sounds awful. And I'm so happy for you that the flagyl worked.

But that's exactly what I'm saying. You never gave the flagyl a chance to work - you've been whining every single day for a week that the flagyl wouldn't work, that it's not working, and still not working ...

And now it's working! Yay! Finally you have some relief. And I'm really glad for you.

But all that worrying did you no good, right? It just made things worse, and drove you crazy. It's clear you're just working yourself up into a hysterical state and it's not helping you.

I'm NOT saying you have no reason to be worried and upset - you've been through a lot. But you are under the care of a doctor, and you are taking medication.

So you need to calm down and stop expecting the worst. I'm not telling you these things to be mean. I think you need to hear it from someone. And since you feel compelled to continue to post here, you should accept what people have to say. I know telling someone to "calm down" is easier said than done, but you still have to try. Because what you're doing? It's no good.

Not to put you on the spot, Morphia, but aren't you taking flagyl now? And you told us it's not working. You even said you knew it wouldn't work even before you took it. But then it's a "tragedy" that you took clindamycin?

Geez, you're so overdramatic.

Look girl, I'm not trying to make fun of you. But your hysteria is kind of entertaining. You read one sentence from some website and you're freaking out on the "verge of tears." The way you're always this close to popping a vein is really quite funny.

But seriously, you're not doing yourself a lot of favors. Everyone's goal in here is to become healthy, and beat this thing, and I wish the same for you. It really makes me feel bad for you to see you get so worked up over what is probably nothing.

You need a vacation from your vagina.

(Well, I guess we all could use one.)

Lori, You just can't stop? Can You? It wasn't that one website that I read. As I said in what you quoted I'd read about Clindamycin before I even read what that site had to say. The day I was diagnosed with BV (April 9th) I did research on the best treatments for bv and thats when I read about the Clindamycin. The doctor gave me the Clindesse on the 10th. It was after my symptoms worsened and reading what this particular site said that just drove it home for me. What all of us is going through is a tragedy. This particular infection has taken so much from a lot of the women here that I can't consider it anything else. Also, you have no idea the list of gynecological problems I've had to deal with. I've probably been through so much more shit than you have already and I'm only 21. This bv is just the last straw on the camel's back for me. I've dealt with a precancerous condition (VIN) that primarily affects women in their 50's and older. I had to have that painfully lasered off of my vulva a year ago. (It was first diagnosed as herpes, so I thought I had herpes for about 6 months till they finally biopsied). I got genital warts from the bf I had before this one after having sex with him once. Had to battle those little fuckers for about 6 months. And before that I had genital molluscum contagiosum that I got from a dirty towel when I was visiting my ex in the barracks and I had to battle those for over 2 years. And now I'm dealing with the bv although I know I got it when I contracted the warts from my ex. So, I've had it for over a year. I thought I was battling yeast infections this entire time. So now that you know, if you have nothing nice to say to me then please keep your comments to yourself. So far you've been more hurtful than you've been helpful.

After all that I've dealt with I have a fucking right to be as dramatic as I want to be. My entire youth has been nothing but one big gynecological problem. So you can shut the fuck up.

To the rest of you ladies. Just wanted to remind you that I have my colpo on Friday and I'll have him check me for any infections. I'll come back and let you know how everything went. I'm afraid to say that I have a good feeling about it because I don't want to jinx it. But...I think the flagyl worked. Last night I had pain free sex that lasted longer than 3 minutes. Well, it hurt a little at first but once things started moving it didn't hurt anymore. And I don't feel the burn anymore. I felt it all day yesterday. I actually think the sex helped!

Horizon drugs was one I had saved in my favorites for some reason. And now that you all are talking about it, I think you're right. It took me along time to get it. I think I had to finally send an email to Customer Service, and then I finally got it, or I cancelled it?? I don't remember.

But there's tons of places online that you can buy it. Some have the 500mg some have less. I personally like the 500mg. I have the 200 as well, but it doesn't seem to work as good.

I've been stressing alot latey, hence the messages back and forth...been feeling or think I was smelling the B.V. coming back, however, had sex last night, AND ZERO SMELL. So....I agree with the whole stress thing. I think we worry so much about this shit, that we can smell it in our heads!!!! wink.gif

Jewels, I can totally relate about stressing out about the bv and then thinking that I smell it. I work in a hospital and I know some the patients have it, then I start freaking out that it's me AAARRRGGGGHH!!! I am having my monthly right now and I have been using boric suppositories, but I don't think they're working...when I used yeast arrest, Ihad no problems but with just boric capsules that I make at home it does'nt seem to work,,, so I took a tea tree suppository to work (just in case) and I kept thinking about what Lori said in her blog that using the tea tree is like a "altoid for your vagina" OMG!! I laughed so hard it almost fell out! laugh.gif laugh.gif

I'm sure that what I'm gonna say has already been discussed on countless posts, but I'm still freaking out about the toilet paper harvesting bacteria. Please be careful when in restrooms or even your own home. These harmful bacteria are hanging around somewhere. We are just the unlucky few that have weak immunce systems and can't fight them off fast enough before everything else gets back in balance. Do you all think that simple soap and water and laundry soap can kill this stuff? I sure as hell hope so. I'm becoming germophobic. Many women have this bv, and are nasty, don't wash their hands..blah blah blah....

Just here to vent my confusion about lactobacillus bacteria...they secrete hydrogen perioxide and lactic acid. When people are sick or in high stress abnormal levels of this acid are found in the body....it's bad on the body because it wants to maintain a more basic ph 7.35-7.45 and it has to work harder. But in our smelly cats, we are having problems keeping this good bacteria...WTF? Shouldn't it be easier to keep em if we are always stressed about our stinch??? What does this other bacteria that is supossed to be (bad )secrete do scienctist even know since some of these bacteria don't even have a name yet???

Science now can grow football fields of peoples skin in labs....I want some of my own lactobacillus bacteria reproduced and inserted back in my kitty!!!!!!!

Hello Sciongal..
Yes, that does sound like a problem with you not receiving your order in a timely matter. If this is a pattern with this company I probably should look into another company.. Thanks for the warning..

I actually knew this before I took the Clindesse. But I figured "My doctor is so damn good, he couldn't possibly screw me over." Well, he did. I'll have to tell him what I know now. Its just a tragedy that its too late for me. I actually almost didn't take the Clindesse and almost requested a script for Flagyl but as I said, I trusted my doctor. I should have trusted my gut instinct.

Please go to the doctor first. I strongly suggest that you ALWAYS go to the doctor to make damn sure that it is what you think it is. When I feel symptoms I KNOW its bv but I make a doctors appointment just so I can hear him say it. Besides, I know there is still plenty of room for me to be wrong.

I totally agree with this.

QUOTE(NotCatEyed @ May 15 2007, 10:01 PM) *
So, I'm not fasting, but I have been eating no/low sugar diet....and I am drinking lots of very lemony water, which I find quite yummy, and I feel better!! I was itchy and uncomfortable 2 days ago, and a few bucks worth of lemons and I swear I feel a difference. I can see how the vitamin c plus the acidity are both helpful in fighting BV. I am traveling in asia so my treatment options are really limited. But when life gives you lemons!!

I think what you eat does make a difference. I've been trying to stop drinking diet soda because it is a base and we want our kitties to be more acidic. I don't know that it's going to make a huge difference, but it can only help.

I guess taking vit.C supplements are also a good idea.
