sounds like a great bday anna! my 30th was on friday, oct 20th. i feel like i had a whole week of celebrating-because my roomie's bday is the day before mine, so we had a party celebrating both last weekend. then i had work happy hour, dinner with friends, and then i went to martha's vineyard (nice island near boston) for the weekend.
i don't usually care mucha bout my bdays but this year was a big one and i'm so glad i got to have so much fun! it IS nice to feel spoiled for a day or so. of course, it poured all day here on my bday. it was sooo depressing. |

I had a good birthday. I spent the day with my brother and sister. They got me magazines from Tower Records (they're going out of business, so everything was cheaper) and DVDs like Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, MST3K, Deep Blue Sea, and some other stuff.. My sister also got me a book called Celebrity Genalogy, of famous families. We went to an expensive Italian resturant called Il Bastardo (I was hoping it didn't mean bastard, but it does), where my sister used her bonus money to spoil me and I got some good chicken stuffed with cheese and spinach and drank red wine until I was drunk and dizzy in the head. They also had the waitress bring some chocolate mousse with a candle lit in it and my brother sang "Happy Birthday"" to me in Italian. It was nice to be spoiled for a day. Then we went to the UCB theater, where we saw the weekly show Assscat 3000, hosted by SNL's Amy Poehlar. I've been following Amy since she was in UCB, and interviewed by Bust magazine in 2001 (and made the cover in 2006), so I'm happy to see her so successful. Even though Amy is listed as showing up at the events, since she's a big celebrity I wasn't sure if she would be there. She was, and my sister freaked, grabbing my arm in excitement. I recognized Rob Huebal from VH1's Best Week Ever and as the Inconsiderate Cell Phone Man, and my brother recognized another guy. My sister again grabbed my arm when Seth Meyers, another SNL comedian, appeared. It was a great show, hampered only by the Project Runway winner making a promo appearence and telling stories about the show, which served as improv topics for the performances. I laughed so much my cheeks hurt. |
