I don't think it's a good idea to keep sticking crap up your twat...yeast can grow at an acidic level of 2.5 through basic 7.5. Your gonna be shit out of luck when the bacteria and yeast become resistant to your short term solution. But that's just my opinion.

One thing my doctor did say is that a low ph is consistent with yeast. I didn't really believe him at first, but there may be some truth to it after all.

Yeast are not as innocent as everyone thinks..can be very dangerous, and can become as resistant as bacteria. We need to split this group up on our research. I'm not interested in a short term solution. What are we all gonna do when the all antibotics fail?

Does anyone know if the metro gel and flagyl contain aluminum? I'm scared to ask.

Edit: I've only had to use the Flagyl vaginally twice, in the last 5 months. So, to me....that's worth it.

If you have true, re-occuring B.V., I hate to be the barrier of bad news, but the Flagyl, orally, won't work. It will VERY temporarily, but you will get a yeast infection, and your B.V. will return. If this is a one time case for you, then you might get lucky and it will work.

For me, Flagyl vaginally is the ONLY solution right now. Mine is gone. And, I'm not doing any preventative either.

I've had reoccuring B.V. now for 5 going on 6 yrs. And this is the first time, I've gone MONTHS, with no smell. Even after sex.

So...The solutions are here girls, Flagyl Vaginally, Estroil, and maybe 1 or two others. All these other remedies you all are trying, are not going to work, IN THE LONG RUN. AND THAT'S JUST MY OPPINION!!!!

Hi there all, I just finished my period and I've been using the boric acid during, which helps with the smell. So now it is a few days after and I checked my ph yesterday and it was back to acidic, but I went out yesterday and had some drinks (alcohol) and when I checked the ph this morning it was heading back towards basic and I have that slight ammonia smell and wetness. F%ck!!!!!! So I am going to break down and use the flagyl vaginally tonight. I am a little worried about a rebound infection, but WTF, I will deal with that if it happens. Luckily (?) I am not sexually active right now....I hope the flagyl works...

OH MY GOSH Honey!!!! Let me tell you that you are way to smart for being only 16. HOw old were you when you started your period? Go right now and read this article about yeast infections that I just found I don't know how to attach links but I will list the name of the article and hopefully you can find it...I think it will help you!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can't find it...I am having a friend that is coming over tommorow that is giving me some computer dumbass training 101. Let me know if your doctors have already researched these rare strains of yeast and get back to me.

by the way... the antibiotic i'm on for the UTI is Septra. has anyone used that before? bad? good? i'm really sceptical about antibiotics now.

I used septra....the uti is gone..for now....I'm gonna check with my doctor to see if he will get me some test strips to monitor for uti's. ( I know a friend who has them.) I go see him this friday. He's not doing my pap, he wants me to see a specialist...I'm hoping that he refers me to someone good. He's an older doctor that used to treat me as a child and my mother. He saved her life and diagnosed a disease she had when 7 other specialists kept telling her there wasn't anything wrong with her. The other doctor that I was seeing wouldn't listen to nothing I had to say...didn't want to take time to answer any questions..my blood pressure was 144 over 98..just put me prozac and sent me on my way. So of course since he didn't listen to anything else that I was concerned about, I sure as hell didn't mention the recoccuring BV.

I got some cranberry herbal supplements..thought it might be a good try since drinking cranberry juice with sugar isnt the best choice.

Do these bacteria just migrate back and forth?

i could have told you that... sorry i didn't! there have been a few times when i had pap smears and i had some bleading afterwards and it's usually brown. and spotting between periods... also brown. it's normal.

Well, the thing is its not old blood. Its new blood. I thought that it was old blood because it was brown on my underwear. It wasn't until I actually looked at my vag that I realized it wasn't so old after all. Looks like I'll be making another trip to the doc tomorrow! Woooohooooooooooo!

i had my gyno appointment today. it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. she didn't have use a bunch of different swabs. i did find out that i have UTI though. what the hell?! so now i have bv and a UTI, greatttttt. she wanted to give me flagyl but i told her no. i'm on antibiotics for the UTI. i'm just a little worried though because i had no idea i had it, i have no symptoms. how am i going to tell if it went away? well now i am going to be drinking lots and lots and loottttss of water and peeing a lot haha. anyway so i started yeast arrest today i will be doing that and i'm going to buy the fem-dophilus. i'll keep everyone updated. i wonder what i'll have next time i go to the doctor :\

We had sex once and that was enough to give me a raging outbreak from hell! The warts are gone but it seems the bv will stay with me as a lingering reminder of that awful mistake. I also have high risk hpv. I had to have a precancerous condition removed from my vulva via laser over a year ago and now I'm showing changes on my cervix. I do believe there is no doubt that HPV and BV are related.

I have found a little bit of hope today. A woman at the yahoo bv support group told me that she was able to clear her infection with a 14 day course of Flagyl and the infection hasn't come back yet. Although I don't know how long she has been free from infection at least I know that there is a chance I can get rid of this burden even for a short time. My symptoms have been relentless for the past 3 months. I want this stuff gone!

Hello everyone!

I am new to this forum and just want to say THANK GOD that I found this website! I am 22 years old and have been suffering from chronic bv for over a year now. Doctors continue to act as if it is no big deal and give me repeated courses of Flagyl (YUCK!). BV has totally ruined my sex life with my boyfriend and it is so depressing. I have tried everything and nothing works. Unlike most women who experience discharge and odor, I only get the burning. It occurs every month right before my period and will not go away unless I take more Flagyl only to return again the next month. I have tried natural methods like yogurt, hydrogen peroxide, and tea tree oil but nothing works. I don't use tampons, only where cotton underwear, don't take bubble baths or use scented soap, and I don't even venture towards hot tubs. I also have tried the folic acid but so far nothing. I just recently started taking these herbal pills called "Botanical Advantage" so I will give it some time to see how it works. Anyways, thank you ladies for sharing your experiences. I really thought I was all alone. I do believe that my bv has something to do with hpv even though doctors say it doesn't. I was told I had hpv about a year ago and thats when I started getting bv all the time. I just want to find something that works so I can have my sex life back!!! Any input is greatly appreciated! Ilovehim that is very strange that you had those as a child. My mom said that I did too...but I don't remember. I do remember getting catherders (sp) stuck in me time after time after time..and antibotic treatments again and again.

Did you ever find out if you or your mom were carriers of strep b?

I just remember that as a child my mother said she took me to the doctor's office alot because I would get cheesy discharge. I had yeast infections as a baby what the hell? My vagina is extremly delicate and any little thing disturbs it's pH balance. I've had this problem as a child, and now after 16 years it hasn't got any better. It just keeps getting worse. When I got preg. is when everything FLARED up. & now i'm just desperate to find a cure, or atleast somethig to help with the symptoms.

If it's not BV it's yeast, and its become a vicious cycle. The yogurt didn't help me when I inserted inside, neither did the acidophillus capsles I've taken. I have a yogurt a day, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I mentioned before on here the other day that I bought a product called FEMMESIL. Apparently that just made matters much worse. It has some type of silver mineral or ingredient that's supposed to kill off all bacteria, yeast, and viruses. But I think it's full of shit. =(

WE NEED ANSWERS!
