So I had this dream where I was arguing with an older women she tells me to "Cool it!"
My response was " My thermostat doesn't go to Cool it! ". I have been running around saying that ever since cuz I think I'm really funny even while dreaming. |

I don't usually look in this thread, so I don't know if this has been posted before, but I found it on a piece of paper I've had since high school from a poster one of my teachers had on their wall. Turns out it wasn't the complete quote and thanks to the internet, I found the whole thing:
One final paragraph of advice: Do not burn yourself out. Be as I am-a reluctant enthusiast... a part time crusader, a half-hearted fanatic. Save the other half of yourselves and your lives for pleasure and adventure. It is not enough to fight for the land; it is even more important to enjoy it. While you can. While it is still there. So get out there and mess around with your friends, ramble out yonder and explore the forests, encounter the grizz, climb the mountains. Run the rivers, breathe deep of that yet sweet and lucid air, sit quietly for a while and contemplate the precious stillness, that lovely, mysterious and awesome space. Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to your body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much: I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those deskbound people with their hearts in a safe deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators. I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards. ~Edward Abbey It makes me want to go camping and hug a tree. I love it. -------------------- You went to school where you were taught to fear and to obey, be cheerful, fit in, or someone might think you're weird.
Life can be perfect. People can be trusted. Someday, I will fall in love; a nice quiet home of my very own. Free from all the pain. Happy and having fun all the time. It never happened, did it? |

"I love you as certain dark things are loved, secretly, between the shadow and the soul." - Pablo Neruda. That quote has so much feeling, I find. I relate to it because I've loved people that way. Like when you know you shouldn't love someone, but you do anyway because you are compelled to from the depths of your soul. -------------------- "Humans are the only animals that have children on purpose - with the exception of guppies, who like to eat theirs."

"Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul."
- Samuel Ullman I love that, it's so true. when we lose our curiosity and our interest in people and places and things around us, Then we grow old. I also thought this one was especially pertinent for the state of the world; I believe that as long as it doesn't cause harm to anyone else. many steps to heaven, one God and all. I have always loved: "Not all who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien. Whenever I feel lost or hopeless I stop to remind myself that I'm actually just wandering and things will improve sooner rather than later. One of my favorite quotes of all time! It pretty much describes my life right now. Wandering can be a good thing. |
