I'm not sure how I feel about the Pavement reunite. I'm really not. It feels too soon. Part of it me loves it like the Pixies reunion, but I feel like there was an appropriate time between the demise of the Pixies & the reboot.
I saw Pavement at their infamous Coachella show & saw them a few days later at home. I actually had, like, five minute conversation with Stephen Malkmus from the floor of the venue that night as I was the only person in the crowd from Coachella & I called him on his shit. He was apologized for his voice being scratchy & I loudly commented on the fact that he'd mentioned that he'd been smoking some sweet Humboldt county shit a few days earlier. We talked weed & festival shit for a few minutes. Yes, I am an asshole. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."

OH my happy goodness I think I might be going to this in May.
The Pixies!! Pavement!! Wilco!! New Pornographers!! And they haven't even finished booking it. And it's in Barcelona. My head may just explode. -------------------- I am not a reliable narrator

oh i totally would but I am actually going to be interviewed on the radio on Monday (resonance FM should you care to listen at 10:30 pm as a guest of The Voice of Americans where I will be asked about my views on living in London, specifically scenic Nunhead)
I keep finding about shows after they happen or on days when I can't go. UNFAIR. ETA see how i was sneaky and worked in a brag there? I am so freaking sly -------------------- I am not a reliable narrator

Zoya They are so great!!! I saw them live last May after seeing the regular Bronx earlier in the day and figured it would be lame and gimmicky as i didn't really care for their non-mariachi songs and then they got onstage and blew everyone away. A friend sent me a video of them in light up suits which made me love them even more.
Plus Kim and Kelly Deal sang a couple songs with them and that made them even more awesome in my eyes -------------------- I am not a reliable narrator

Oh, I dunno if it's an & or an and, I just always use the & cos I'm lazy! And nope, I don't think they were ever against anything, so I dunno where ya got that. The mind pulls some crazy hijinks on ya sometimes!
And isn't that Neko Case record just fantastic! -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."

My bad with the ampersand ignorance, then. Did they used to be against the wall? and If not why did I think they were?
Happily Spotify is good at correcting my mistakes, but it still gave me a hard time when I was searching for Florence + the machine but was foolish enough to type and. I was tempted to try to find Florence (she supposed only lives about a mile from me) and give her a piece of my mind about silly punctuation, but I'm lazy, so I didn't. hope you enjoy the blog, Aural, like I say in the sig I try to make it interesting but don't always succeed. I've also been very into Neko Case lately. The Middle Cyclone is possibly one of my all time favorite albums. This Tornado Loves you is a perfect song. -------------------- I am not a reliable narrator

I'm not trying to be an asshole (I rarely have to try!) but it's Tilly & the Wall. I just wanted to clarify in case anybody wanted to check them out. I once wasted I dunno how much time trying to find a band because somebody on here screwed up the name & I was madder than a wet hen about it.
Oh, & I have been checking out your blog, Pants. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."

Visqueen, the XX, Odetta, Them Crooked Vultures, Fever Ray, Alice Russell, & Parliament.
Oh, & Mike Patton's soundtrack for "A Perfect Place". And Dead Man's Bones. I remember seeing Ryan Gosling on Breaker High back in my weed saturated art school days & thinking to myself that the guy had the "it". Who knew? I'm enjoying their record a great deal. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."

I just discovered Barcelona. They are amazing. Such a good balance of quiet and a little more of a busy sound. I do believe it's love. =)

I just discovered Owl City this morning and I really like them. They really remind me of The Postal Service and I loooove The Postal Service. I like the music - sweet and uplifting, which sometimes I need. =)

Crap like this...
http://www.rantrave.com/Rant/I-hate-Beth-Ditto.aspx And in many comments in forums, Youtube, etc., you'll find a lot of posts of how she's fat, ugly, annoying... and a lot of clueless teens supporting Katy Perry (who is quite more annoying, I'd say...) I think it has to with her being brutally honest, a lesbian, and overweight. I guess it makes certain people uncomfortable... to hell with them, but it's so sad how people can be that judgemental. I bet if Beth Ditto was a size 2, straight girl, then everyone would praise her for being who she is and The Gossip would be really mainstream. -------------------- Ocean child, calls me... |

I'm loving The Gossip now...
Beth Ditto has such an awesome voice... too bad to see so many people seem to hate her, for no apparent reason other than not giving shit about what other people think about her. She's just awesome! -------------------- Ocean child, calls me... |
