Thank you for your input but not crazy about antibiotics. I like herbal remedies and now that the FEM D kicked in I'm good for now.. wink.gif What I'm thinking of doing (I read this below) is using it vaginally after sex to keep the PH balanced. I'll let you know how it goes.

hey jj27-

I had recurrent bv for about a year. I tried many kinds of antibiotics, yogurt, acv, etc, etc. It would always come back. Then I got a sinus infection and was prescribed Avelox by my ear, nose and throat doc. It was very expensive (about $120 for seven pills, no generic available) and it made me nauseous as hell. At the end of the treatment, my sinus infection was cured and my bv was also gone, never to be seen again (it has been 7 months)!!! I told my gyno about this and he said he didn't know about Avelox, so go figure. I also did not take any preventative steps toward possible yeast infection, and Avelox did not give me one. Hope this info helps.

hi damselindistress

go to these websites to purchase and yes you can purchase with a creditcard....http://www.biofem.co.uk/ or http://www.expresschemist.co.uk/Bio-Fem_Actigel_50ml.html. i bought mine from the second website but i've also known some ladies that have used the first one too. with the expresschemist website you get a little discount when you purchase 3 tubes. shipping is expensive but it is well worth it. hope this helps....

good luck to you honnie!!!!!

BTW, the tea tree seems to be doin' its thing. I went to the doctor yesterday, no bacteria, no excess discharge, urine clean. Soooo, I've found a cheap way to manage the BV, but I'd sure like to find a way to keep it from comin' around at all, ya know? That's why I'm asking about the actigel. Keep me posted on how well it helps. When I get some funds, I might give it a try. Thanks, so happy and good luck to you too!

I am working on my third week, but I just feel different. There is no burning, DEFINITELY no odor which was a big concern for me. Now I just have this smell-not bad, just my smell. I do not use condoms-but I do use it after sex. I wanted to keep my regimine as simple as possible so I said that I would start small and add on as I go. I do not take fem-d everyday like I should. I am so mobile that I forget it sometimes, but I take it when I remember rolleyes.gif I cried tears of joy-I sat indian style in a room full of people with no fear.

How long do you think that will last you? Any idea - meaning $37.00 isn't a drop in the bucket, will it last a while? Will a little dab do ya? Also, I've never bought anything from the UK. How do they do the transaction? Can I use a credit card? Thanks for answering!

Hey,
I have not posted in a while but wanted to share my progess. I have suffered with bv for at least 10 years and I FINALLY found something that is working for me - I convinced my doctor to give me one last round of antibiotics since they tend to work for me for at least 3 days after I finish the prescription. I continued to take one fem-dolph once a day even though it did not work for me alone. I ordered bio-fem from the UK (kinda like aci-jel, I read about it here) and I use it after sex and I am free. Including shipping the bio-fem costs me around 37.00.
I just wanted to share what is working for me and I will be sure to update. Be strong ladies and find what will work for you

hi greeneyyes

that's wonderful that you are bv free!!!! YAY!!!! how long have you been bv free? i've been using the aci-gel/bio fem for about 2-3 weeks now and i think i am bv free too. but i've also been using femd vaginally with the gel. i would do 2-3 days gel then 2-3 days femd vaginally. oh, i'm also taking it orally.

mg86,

i don't know much about the odor thing, but i do know that all of us ladies do have some kind of odor. hope this helps......have you done femd vaginally yet? let me know hon. hopefully we are on our way to NO MORE BV!!!!!

ladies

hi,
i just wanted to give a little update. last month i did 20, YES 20 days of metrogel. then after that i did a aci-gel/biofem(ordered from uk). for 2-3 days then femd vaginally for 2-3 days. i just finished my period 2 days ago and i was soooo terrified that the bv would come back but so far still good. i think i'm gonna continue to do the aci gel and vaginal femd, alternating between the 2. oh, still taking femd orally, EVERYDAY!!! i also do acigel after sex and i am using a condom too. i'm gonna stick with condoms for about 2-3 months to make sure my vagina is strong enough to handle sex without it....lol! no weird, smelly discharge, no burning laugh.gif . i'm sooo happy! hopefully this is my cure. i will keep everyone updated.

sooo sad...aka "sooo happy"

I'm new here and have had bv for the past 5 years and used to change my pantiliners every hour and have to wash up at worked all the time until the last 2 years. I now just take the vandazole twice a month. Yes this doesn't cure it but it stops the symptoms. I do it this way so I don't have to go to the doctors all the time. I ask my doctor for a refill rx and only go to the doctors once a year. Right now I use it when I get symptoms which are usually a week before I come on and then I use it again right on the last day I am coming off. I haven't had a smell since i have done it that way. I still hate that I have to use it every month but at least I don't smell anymore.

I was also looking on the fda website http://www.fda.gov/cder/consumerinfo/whatsrightforyou.htm and was wondering if we could start a petition to have vandazole (or another name is metrogel)as an over the counter drug because this seems to happen more than yeast infections.

ok girls,

I have a gross and embarrassing question, but I just have to ask. when you say you have an odor, how do you know? I mean is it coming through your clothes, smell it when you go to the bathroom, smell your underwear, or smelling the discharge directly?

I ask because there is a CHANCE I may be BV free. I still have discharge...but I think it may be normal. I'm not so sure. The way I look at my discharge is kind of wipe that area with my finger, then I check to see if it has an odor. This discharge seems a lot less thick than what I have before, but does have s light smell. There was itching for a little bit, but now it's gone. There is discharge on my underwear (which smells normal as far as I can tell), but that seems to look like what it did ever since I hit puberty. lol

I mean I used to get a sick odor if I shifted positions sitting down, like a rotting odor, that I no longer have. I know the obvious answer is go to a doctor to be sure, but I just moved and I don't have a regular gyno yet.

K my cultures came back and I have Gardenella which is aka BV. I took Clindesse and felt better but now I don't feel a 100% and took a diflucan just in case I'm baking bread (yeast LOL). I went back to femdophillus last week. Any suggestions cause my Gyno has no clue. No surprise there and I would like to guide him. I never took Flagyl. I will research it.

aci-gel is a gel that maintains the vaginal enviroment at the right ph...i believe at 4.0-4.5.
when it is above that it invites bad bacteria to multiply fast!!! you can get it only with a prescription in the united states but i ordered it from united kingdom without a script and shipping is about 7-10 days. i've tried the tto thing and it did the same discharge to me that you described, i might do it again if this aci-gel doesn't work.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna let you be the guinea pig. Let me know how the aci-gel thing works out. It sounds like it might be a little less messy, but more expensive than my $4 bottle of TTO. Best of luck and keep me posted!

I'm telling you guys - the tea tree thing is working out. I was able to cancel an appt with dr this morning....symptoms gone. After the last period, the yucky stuff came. I used the tea tree for two days, then a probiotic tablet I found at the health food store, vaginally, for two days.....no more abnormal discharge. I'm so thrilled I just had to share. I may have found my miracle.

Well... You might ONLY be safer with BORIC ACID, if you are not ALERGIC TO IT!!! Once again, if you are alergice to the antibiotic "Bactrim" or any Sulfer/sulpher type products, DO NOT USE BORIC ACID. 1st off, boric acid has been proven by most ladies on this board, that it does not CURE BV. It only takes the symptoms away, just for them to return, in most cases.

I tried TTO, I can't even tell you, what, 6 months ago now??? Whens the last time I posted?? I've been suffering from BV for over 6yrs. And mine, is 100% gone. And I have not used a TTO suppository for close to 4-5 months. I can't even remember because it's been so long.

With Boric Acid, I broke out in a rash on my arms, forehead, and my legs. A rash so bad that the sores were bleeding. So, Just as we can warn everyone about all products, CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. We found the Idea of the TTO Suppositories from a poster here, who's doctor prescribed it for her!

So, I am still going strong!! No BV for me, and it's all been thanks to the person who posted the TTO Supositories!!

I'm so happy to here the FemD is working for so many of you!! Congratulations!!

Also, I no longer lurk, and hardly post. And refuse to stress... I think those things have also helped with my recovery!!!

Good luck ladies!!!

Hey Jewels,

I'm glad to see you still here. I see a lot of new girls are here it's a good thing and t's a bad thing. Anyway, things are the same here but I'm sure it will get better one day. I'm not really concerned about anything. Anyway, I hope all is well ladies. Things will get better. smile.gif
