God I am depressed over this. Everytime I think there might be some light at the end of the tunnel my symptoms come back. I see a new GYN on Monday. I am hoping for a miracle.
Ladies...a few Questions...
1.) am I the only one that has been diagnosed as having BV but has more discomfort than foul odor? I dont know if its the meds or what but I dont SMELL as bad as I feel...alot of irritation and sensitivity.
2.) They did a STD test but I am still worried there is something else going on because I cant kick this infection....I

I was diagnosed with BV, no smell---but eventually very bad burning occurred---I couldn't wear underwear, etc. As it turns out, in addition to BV, I also had a yeast infection that was undetected in the wet-prep slides my gyno took. It wasn't a "typical" form of yeast, either, so Diflucan & the prescription anti-yeast creams didn't touch it. It wasn't until I used boric acid-in-capsules inserted vaginally every night for 14 days that things (both the BV and the yeast) began to clear up.
I, too, thought I had all kinds of weird things, but it was just a non-Albicans strain of Candida.

I mean...they would have seen that by now right? I have no visible sores on the outside at all.

SO depressed over this. I swear it is all-consuming. I am angry and sad and losing all hope here. I have never had an infection like this. I went on antibiotics in October for strep throat and havent been the same since

How do I tell my friend that she reeks?!? The other day I went into the bathroom after she was done, and I almost died in there. Maybe it's a combination b.v. and sweat? I don't know, and I don't know how her man goes to town on her. He probably doesn't know better or is too nice to say anything.

Please use tact and empathy. Put yourself in her situation and imagine if someone went in a bathroom after you and "almost died in there" how you would want them to break the news to you. Be sensitive to her feelings because if she does indeed have BV then she is probably already an emotional wreck right now and the last thing she needs is a someone telling her in a rude way that her girly bits reek.

Uhm, why don't you try something less harsh like Rephresh. That should help!

my discharge has always been a yellow/green color. and she said inside my vagina was very red and raw including my cervix. she looked at it under a microscope... she couldn't see clearly because i though i had a yeast infection because i had more burning and itching than i've ever had so i used monistat and there was still some cream left. so i'm going back next week to get examined again just to check for anything else. hopefully i'll be all clear then. is there a chance of taking the 2g of metronidazole and the trich not going away.

Well, my Flagyl finally came in today. Only took 3 FRICKEN months to get here. I'm worried that it's the wrong stuff. It says, Metronidazol Lisan. And, it's from Costa Rica. And the pills are yellow, not white. The whole package is in another language.

DAMMIT!!!!

Mine are yellow to and say flagyl on the pill. I used them and no smell.

Hi...I too have had BV for months now. It started with what I thought was yeast from Antibiotics. I took Diflucan and it didnt COMPLETELY clear up. Long story short- went to GYN, went on Clindesse....am now trying herbal supplements and a steriod cream which helps sometimes.
My question is does BV cause pain and irritation for you women? I am finding myself very irritated by jeans or restricted clothes.

God, I am so sick of this. Nothing takes it away completely....I have been dealing with depression as a result of this crap.

I'm sorry Neverending...I know the lonely feeling..and it sucks...I don't have much of a support system either. Counseling...waste of my time too. So..your suffering from anxiety and depression? If you have insurance, just go to the doctor and pour out yur guts..I'm sure he/she will give you something for the anxiety..Xanax and Valium are more of a short term or fast acting relief for aniexty. I know that there are many other medications to control aniexty on a long term basis..but I currently don't have any insurance..and xanax aren't that expensive. As far as all the many medications for depression..its basically trial and error, and after my near death experience with the prozac..I have no intentions of trying anything else at this time. I tried all the natural remedies for insomnia and anxiety... but nothing worked for me..but...that's just me. I'm sure I'm depressed too..I just don't have the time to even deal with it. Or maybe not.....I can't cry..so I'm not sure if thats good or bad since I used to be a very emotional person...I just feel pissed off alllllll the time....

I'm not sure exactly what I have as far as depression or anxiety but I THINK I may have both. I tense up around people, I worry all the time, and I feel like i'm on the edge. Then somedays I just don't feel happy at all. So, I think it's both. As far as going to a doctor, FORGET IT! I wish I could buy this stuff of the internet. Anyway, I think i'm just tired. I need a change of scenery. I want to move and just start all over again but I have to finish school first.

so i went to the doctor today because i had insane itching and burning. and she told me she thinks i have trich and not bv. so i'm taking metronidazole AGAIN. but, i'm taking 4 500mg pills orally all at once. 2g of it... i'm so scared i'm going to get sick. because it's made me throw up before. i was taking 500mg 3 times a day and that made me sick. now i'm taking 4 of them all at once. so wish me luck, i'm going to be eating a lot of yogurt and taking the primodophilus reuteri so hopefully maybe this works even though it probably won't. hope everyone else is doing well...

there were other people taking the primadophilus right? is it working for anyone?

Emotionally, I still feel like crap. Having dealt with this for years, it has ruined my self esteem and I don't think I will ever get that back. I love to be by myself, I don't like most people because I realize how Immature/ fickle/cruel people can be. I'm not as nice as I use to be, I'm always on the edge, and anxiety is ruining my life. It would not be as bad if I had a support system but I have no one but a husband who does not know how to deal with my MANY nervous breakdowns. I've never been so lonely in my life. Oh and counseling SUCKS! I'd much rather self medicate. She didn't tell me anything I didn't already know (self esteem problems/ AS WELL AS FAMILY PROBLEMS) and she didn't help with to much of anything. Now, WHERE CAN I BUY XANAX, VALIUM, OR ANY OTHER ANXIETY, OR DEPRESSION MEDICATION?
