Hi Lori.. I'm afraid I don't have a sure answer for your question. I've used FemD on it's own and the capsule broke down easily. But I would say you have a valid reasoning. RePhresh would definitely be helping more to break down the capsule than not. And another benefit, the applicator allows me to push the femD cap further up the passage! I probably won't continue using RePhresh every 3 days, since that would be expensive! But I definitely will use it again right after my next period for a couple of times. BTW ladies, don't fear the clumpy discharge. You'll only experience it the first day after you use it. I will continue to insert one cap of FemD in my vagina every night, and I orally ingest 2 caps of acidophilus daily. Good luck ladies! ~Jennifer Thanks for your reply, Jennifer! -------------------- |

Please be CAREFUl with tea tree oil everyone! I will tell you why. Several years ago after seeing my OBGYN I was diagnosed with a mild yeast infection... and instead of using Diflucan or a yeast med... or even boric acid, I decided to use tea Tree Oil instead. I only used a few drops of it... diluted of course for inside my vagina. I only used it for 3 days. So not very long. However, instead of treating my yeast infection the Tea Tree oil ended up causing another bacterial infection to grow. Yes thats right... it made a "normal" bacteria inside of my vagina grow out of wack causing an infection. In which case I had to go back to the Gyn... and she had to put me on CIPRO for 2 weeks because of this. I caution you all... please DO NOT use TEA TREE OIL for anything INTERNAL unless directed by a PHYSICIAN! it even states this on all tea tree oil bottles...= "not for internal use" I just wanted to warn you. I think your safer with boric acid! Well... You might ONLY be safer with BORIC ACID, if you are not ALERGIC TO IT!!! Once again, if you are alergice to the antibiotic "Bactrim" or any Sulfer/sulpher type products, DO NOT USE BORIC ACID. 1st off, boric acid has been proven by most ladies on this board, that it does not CURE BV. It only takes the symptoms away, just for them to return, in most cases. I tried TTO, I can't even tell you, what, 6 months ago now??? Whens the last time I posted?? I've been suffering from BV for over 6yrs. And mine, is 100% gone. And I have not used a TTO suppository for close to 4-5 months. I can't even remember because it's been so long. With Boric Acid, I broke out in a rash on my arms, forehead, and my legs. A rash so bad that the sores were bleeding. So, Just as we can warn everyone about all products, CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. We found the Idea of the TTO Suppositories from a poster here, who's doctor prescribed it for her! So, I am still going strong!! No BV for me, and it's all been thanks to the person who posted the TTO Supositories!! I'm so happy to here the FemD is working for so many of you!! Congratulations!! Also, I no longer lurk, and hardly post. And refuse to stress... I think those things have also helped with my recovery!!! Good luck ladies!!! |

The instructions for Rephresh explains that the discharge happens because the product is removing dead cells from the vagina. Personally, I don't mind the discharge, because I'd rather have the icky stuff OUT than staying IN. And I did find that the discharge stopped after a while. However, I didn't find the product effective for prevention/treatment of BV. So I can't justify spending so much to use it on a regular basis. (I think it's a good ph-balanced lubrication option for some ladies, however.) Anyway, to refine my question to Jennifer: Do you think the acidic quality of the Rephresh gel is helping break down the Fem-D capsule? And do you think the remnants/residue of the Fem-D capsule is included in the "clumpy" discharge you're experiencing? Thanks! Hi Lori.. I'm afraid I don't have a sure answer for your question. Oh my word!I remeber the first time I saw this website, it must have been about two to three months ago.I cried, like a baby knowing that there are other people out there, like me. I have had this problem for 9 years now. Even my sister and mother dont understand. They make funny remarks about 'people who smell'. I have cried for 9 years and when I first saw this website I decided that since I am not an alien, I might as well try to enjoy life even though i have this condition. Like many women here Iv tried it all, metrogel, garlic suppositories, yoghurt, you name it iv tried it. But a month ago I tried inserting a vitamin c pill down there. I did it for a week before night (300mg) and it worked like a charm. No smell for a month!Today i could smell a faint bv smell down there when i went to the loo four hours ago but that was it.Im still not using tampons as a smell barrier. I think I'll stick to the vit C for now. Im just waiting to see how long it will last. But my dear sisters dont let this condition ruin your life. We have this embarrassing condition but how we live our lives is up to us. Just a stupid question about the vit c.....what type of pill are you using? Chewable, caplets, capsules, etc? Thanks. :-) -------------------- Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition. Timothy Leary |

Hello everone....this is my first post, although I may wander over to the newbie thread to say hi there, too. I joined just for this particular thread, though.
I've been reading with great interest since I found this forum. Like others have said, I thought I was the only one with this hideous issue, and it was very depressing. I have run the gamut of prescription meds and usually just have a yeast infection to show for it. I am glad to have found this place, and have just begun to try some of the helpful hints found herein. I do have a question, though, if anyone can help..... A little background: I went to the local healthfood store and bought some Ultimate Floral Vaginal Support--50 Billion, as they do not carry Fem D. I have been taking it for a few days now. I also ordered some Femanol from the website, and it came in about the same time I bought the UFVS, so I've been taking them together. I've actually noticed an increase in the discharge/smell since then and have also been feeling "sore," almost like I'd had a marathon sex session without enough lube. Has anyone else experienced this after beginning the capsules? Or am I overdoing it by taking both of them together? Any insight would be much appreciated. I am leaving the country in less than a month, and would like to have as much odor/pain/gunk- free sex as possible, since I won't see my SO for about 6 months or more once I leave. -------------------- Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition. mg86 hey hon. how's everything going? hope all is well, this darn crap can really drain someone's self esteem huh? well, ladies, a little update on me. i just finished 10 days of metrogel and while on that i was taking 2 femd. on the 7th day of metro i bumped it up to 2 femd in am and 2 femd before bed and in the middle of the day i would take floramore and eat yogurt (breyer's light yogurt with 70% less sugar). but for you ladies that have been on metrogel, the discharge is disgusting huh? does anyone know when it will end? i hope this is the cure for this darn bv. i will probably start to insert femd vaginally in a few days when the medication/discharge is lighter. some ladies were stating how the capsule was hard to dissolve.....well, i've inserted it once or twice vaginally before and what i did was empty the contents out of the femd into a gelatin capsule. it dissolved fine. hopefully this will be my cure....... good luck ladies....love ya'll sooo sad hey girl! hope all is well with you too! I am having sick discharge too right now - my doc said last week it was clindesse - but it has been over 2 weeks. much to my disappointment, I think it may be a yeast infection. there isn't really a smell, and this is different from the BV stuff. the best way I can think to describe it is like..porridge or something. I know that sounds disgusting!! There is also itching. Ugh. I am moving on Saturday and I don't have time to make it to the doctor. I am going to call in this afternoon and see if he can call me a prescription for diflucan - if all else fails I will go buy monistat or something. This is soo frustrating! I like your idea of using the femd in a gelatin capsule. Perhaps I will try that. |

Thanks for posting Jennifer. I'm thrilled Fem-D is making such a positive difference for so many people! Do you think the Rephresh is helping the Fem-D capsules break down? And the clumpy discharge you're getting has anything to do with that? I'm asking because some people have tried the product vaginally, and have had problems with it not breaking down completely. Thanks again. I think rephresh causes that sort of discharge i used it once and it did that to me but i also had an allergic reaction to repHresh and it made my vagina swollen... so i am one who can't use it I just stick with Fem D its an amazing product! |

So right after my last period, I used rePhresh and inserted 2 caps of FemD in my vagina. Every night I insert another FemD in and every 3 days I use rePhresh. It's been 2 weeks since I've started this regimen and there's no odor, nasty discharge or irritation! The clumpy discharge from the RePhresh is kind of gross, but I'd rather have this than BV hell. I will make an appointment with the gyno to really make sure that I am BV free. Just wanted to give some positive info for all you hopefuls out there. Don't get discouraged! ~Jennifer Thanks for posting Jennifer. I'm thrilled Fem-D is making such a positive difference for so many people! Hi ladies.. I've been a lurker of this site for over 2 years now (been battling BV for longer than that), and finally thought I should post something. I too have gone through the hell of gyno visits and everytime the doctor would just prescribe me another antibiotic. Eventually my body learned to reject the antibiotics. It practically ruined my relationship with my now ex-bf. I lost my libido, because everytime we had sex I would be in excruciating pain, and the smell was unbearable.
So right after my last period, I used rePhresh and inserted 2 caps of FemD in my vagina. Every night I insert another FemD in and every 3 days I use rePhresh. I've been on FemD for about 5 months with no infection. I've also stopped wearing thongs daily (a hard habit to break) and don't wear underwear whenever I can (which is actually kinda nice). It took me two courses of MetroGel along with the FemD to get rid of it in January, but I've been good ever since. Good luck! carriebradshaw hi hon! what do you mean it took two courses of metrogel? how many days is that? i'm on it right now and the doc says 10 day but i've been doing research and some people are prescribed 14 days. i just want to get rid of this nasty thing once and for all! please reply asap!!! tonight will be the 10th day and i don't know if i should do more also, did you experience toilet paper clumps, clumpy discharge? if you did, how long does it take to go away after the last dose? thanks in advance sooo sad |

Hey, haven't been here in a while. That's a good thing. I just wanted to share with the board what's been working for me so far. I took Jewelscando's advice and bought the 00 gelcaps and filled halfway with tea tree oil. I insert one after having my period and one after sex usually. After, I get this thick, toilet-papery stuff like one gets after using Rephresh. It smells of tea tree oil, not BV odor. I leave it there for a day or so to work its magic, then scoop it out every day while in the shower. In fact, I found another blog where a woman suggested "scooping out your vagina with your finger" every day while in the shower. I do that now and I must say I haven't been having problems. I guess getting rid of the thick stuff that hangs around keeps me in check. I guess when you leave that in there is when your body's good stuff can't fight the bad stuff. Some days there's very, very little to clean out, no itching, no excess discharge, no smell......so I guess it's working. God, I hope I didn't just jinx myself. Please be CAREFUl with tea tree oil everyone! I will tell you why. question for clindesse users Almost 2 weeks ago (July 1st, tuesday) I used Clindesse at bedtime. I have been having this weird discharge ever since (definitely not the BV stuff I am used to). It's gross, clumpy, almost solid (not like a rock but hopefully you know what I mean). It seems to have improved a little bit, but I don't remember it being around this long before! I had an appointment with my doctor on July 10th. It was a follow up and I said I had a weird discharge. He looked, and said it was still the Clindesse. I asked if it was normal for it to stick around that long, and he said it usually does for a week or so. It is now July 13th, and it is still there (has almost been 2 weeks). It seems to be thinning out a little bit, but I'm concerned it might be a yeast infection. There is no odor, some itching, but it's minimal. I know there are some lousy doctors out there, but do you think it was possible for my obgyn to look at me and say it was Clindesse left over, and not see a yeast infection? Do they look that similar? Does anyone that has been on Clindesse know what I am talking about? I just want a normal body again! It could be the med... some of them do that it could be yeast I would go back and demand for a genital culture or if you can switch to a new gyn and ask to get a culture done. |

Has anyone tried the 2 FemD twice a day vaginally like the doctor that invented it mentioned in his presentation? I seem to remember something like an 80% cure rate, but that he said they couldn't advertise it because the FDA hadn't approved it.
