Summerbabe...if you've never had a yeast infection, I would go to your doctor first. If you use a yeast medication and you don't have yeast, it will only be making things worse down there and throwing off the natural PH and balance of things. Besides, if you go to your doctor and you do have yeast, you can just get a diflucan pill which is one pill and no mess.

Hey Cashmeregirl, thanks for replying!
I do have a little bit, but no more than I've always had! I'm not experiencing any discomfort either (I've never had a yeast infection before, but I recall hearing that they make you itch, etc.). Maybe I should try one of those yeast infection remedies and see what happens? Anyone know which one is best? |

Hi Summer sounds like you most likely have a yeast infection. Do you have any discharge?

I hope I'm posting in the right place!
I'm not sure if I have BV or not -- I haven't really noticed any strong smell, but I'm experiencing a huge change in taste. I used to taste lovely and sweet |

Hi All, got the Fem V test at Rite aid by me. You can look it up online and it will tell you where to purchase in your area. Very accurate test, I even called their home office to make sure of it! =) I am so paranoid...hoping that it's just yeast and not anything else still. Acually no mustly smell since I used my last Boric Acid Friday night ( after sex)
Yes, MY dr. is the best, she actually prescribed the Boric Acid herself since my Yeast was so stubborn, I'm hoping that she will give me another refill for it. I will ask her about it for you guys, not a prob. Glad to hear you are feeling better Jewels!!!! -------------------- [font=Century Gothic]

Cashmeregirl: Does your Doctor know that you are on Boric?? If not, can you ask him/her about it?? Please be our ginney pig!! We are all to scared to say anything. My smell isn't musty per say, it's more rotten. But not fish smelling either. I too have been on every antibiotic in the world, and Boric has taken the fish away. Also, I've been off boric for a week now, and starting using a Q-tip, once every few days or so, and the funk smell seems to be gone now. So, I don't know. I haven't had sex myself since August 19th. (Yes, I remember the day)
Sorry, a Q-Tip of Tea Tree Oil. |

HI everyone , Newbie to the board! Happy to find you guys! Anyway, been fighting infections since my Dr. had me on a wide spectrum antibiotic for a sinus infection about 3 years ago. Now I either have a yeast infection or BV. ( on and off of course) Can't take it anymore...I think I just want a new one!! Ughhh!! My Dr. gave me Diflucan for almost 2 months...still didn't work ...then I finally got the Boric Acid which did work...thank God, but my problem is something always always comes back. Went back to the Dr. and got the Boric Acid ...... seemed to help this time again, but now I am having a weird musty smell .....not sure if its still a yeast infection or if it could be BV. Although i tried the new FEM-V test. (anyone try that yet?) It's a pantiliner that can tell you from discharge if you have a bacterial infection......came out negative so now i am just confused ....going to gyno on Wed...just wanted to get anyone 's feedback..... much appreciated.....!!

Hey Ladies,
Haven't been here in a while. Well my BV as gone and come back again. I haven't been having sex but it always comes after my period. I wonder wuts that all about... Didn't someone say that if you use this acidophillus stuff after the boric acid that it will help keep it away? Has anyone tried using the RepHresh after the boric acid treatment?? |

Hello Everyone, I brought size 00 vegetarian capsules from a health food store and got some boric acid from CVS, my boric acid didnt have anything to roach killer but it had a huge skull and bones on the front. I will have to admit I was scared so with a pair of gloves I inserted the capsule but not too far up. I wore a pad and went to sleep when I woke up I had some of the acid mixed with discharge. I didnt smell anything at all ( I had sex last night before the boric acid and I could smell the BV). All seems to be okay I will continue to insert the capsules till my period comes (maybe tommorow). I noticed when I was inserting the acid into the capsules one of my gloves had a slight tear and some acid got on my hands, the acid made my finger very very dry. I was wondering if you girls prepare a couple of capsules and keep them in an amber bottle or ziplock bag or something. I think I will prepare a few because it can get messy preparing these capsules in the bathroom. Also I inserted the capsules while laying down with my knees to my chest. BTW last time I saw my gyno was in May and shes treated me numerous times for BV including my partner. I don't get why doctors like to tell us that we are making a big deal out of nothing. THis is a serious condition especiallly emotionally. Many of us do not even like to have sex because we dont want to offend our partner. Thanks for the info. and great advice. |

I didn't mention it because I am scared they'll say something bad. But probably, she would just tell me that it's not safe and I should use antibiotics instead. I don't know. I just don't want to get lectured.

Well, went to a skin specialist today, because I developed a rash on my forehead. Thankfully, she said it was not an internal rash, and that over time, you can develop an alergic reaction to something that you never had a reaction to before. It's spread to my arms, but not as bad as what it is on my forehead. And like Sassy, I was to afraid to bring up the boric. Only because, she wasn't a gyno. I'm going to make an appt. with a Gyno here soon, and I'll tell them about the boric. Why are we so afraid to tell them???? hahahahah. I know why I am, because I don't want to hear anything bad about it right now!! I need to get in though cause I think mine is whatever it was that I called it before. Cause the fish is gone, but the funk is still there. Anyways, if you get the guts, call your Dr. back Sassy. If not, I'll mention it to mine, but it won't be for a few weeks I'm sure til I can get in.

My guess would be that the acid would eat up the latex but I might be wrong.Better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks for the advice girls. My question now is..would it be okay to have sex (with a condom) while on boric acid or should wait to resume intercourse? |

I know for me I'm pretty much the same as Sassy...once or twice per week. Depends how much sex I have.
When I first started using it, I started out with the intention of using it for 14 days...but for whatever reason it makes my vagina a little irritated so I stopped after four days. Since then it's been once or twice per week. Just when I notice the smell/weird discharge. Although I'm having a good week, haven't needed it yet. And pepper, I DEFINITELY agree, tell the doctors about this! Especially once it works. This is so much better than that prescription stuff that just gives you a yeast infection and messes you up for a week or more. -------------------- To block Steve's latest incarnation, Click Here.

That's pretty good! I'm still using it everyday. I think this is our only option right now but i'm still optimistic!

Off and on for the past month or two. I try to only use it about once or twice a week. I know I should find something else but what else is there?

So I went to the gynecologist for my yearly check-up and I was nervous because I kind of expected them to look at my vagina and ask what the hell I was doing...I have this horrible notion that boric acid is going to screw up my vagina. Anyway, she commented that my BV was definately gone but that I seemed a little dry. I guess that's true...the boric acid has made me use so much lube during sex. Still...I would rather be a little dry than smelly. Looks like I'm still okay. She said that she thought of me the other day because another one of her patients has had BV for like 6 months and can't get rid of it. I didn't mention the boric acid because I thought she would lecture me about it...oh well.
