AP, my HPV showed up over a year after I was with my current partner. I've had 14 partners and he's had 1 so I know I got it from one of my past relationships. He's since been diagnosed with it too as we both have warts. They often show up years after you've been exposed so I have no way to know which person I contracted it from and it's likely I unknowingly spread it to a few folks too.

Unfortunately you can't test for most of the wart causing strains, so despite my yearly STD tests, there was really know way to know until they showed up. But still, get checked because sometimes something shows up!

It's odd, but most of the folks I know with HPV got it while in "committed" relationships where their partner stepped out & didn't know they had contracted it because they had no symptoms.

hey there... I have used vagistatin in the past before. Around 2003. I don't know if it helped or not, at that time I had CIN-1
now i am clear of the virus and CIN- have been for 7 years

anyhow I also did this naturopathic treatment from an RN/Midwife when I had CIN-1
it included vagpack suppositories and some other stuff where she put this bromeline and papaya enzyme on my cervix

all and all the CIN went away on its own
I was diagnosed in October 2002 and it cleared up completely in Jan 2005
so- try not to stress if your CIN is mild- because it generally can clear on its own

I had that too. Your doc will probably want to do a colposcopy: the cut out a tinytiny sample of your cervix and send it out to see if there is any cellular dysplasia (funny-looking pre-cancerous cells). She may want to re pap in 6 months. Or both. I had to go through about five paps and three colposcopies. It wasn't serious enough to do anything, because all the procedures available damage the cervix, making conception difficult. But it resolved on its own, so keep your chin up!

I did not know that I had to give you a bio for you to take me seriously. I am promoting vagistatin because it works, do the research to find out for yourself. I could care less about what your thoughts are about me. Obviously, my threads were not for you, they were for the women who are looking to end their never ending battle with hpv (becasue we all know it being diagnosed with hpv can consume your entire emotional well being). I at least shared a cure for hpv and cervical dysplasia. May i ask what cure you have found to help this community end their battle with hpv. Again, if you think I am a fraud, do the research Ms. Debbie-Downer.

So I went to the specialist today for a followup to my last appointment. After the last one they told me that I had mild cervical dysplasia. Anyway, today was more of the same but I was pissed off because the appointment was made almost 6 months ago and when I got there I was told that the regular doctor was on vacation but they had someone filling in for her. And it was a man. He was nice and everything but it was still a bit annoying to be told that at the last minute.

Anyway, I don't know if other people get this but they had like, a little video camera so that I could watch what the doctor was doing to my insides. I was surprised to see a fair amount of blood. I would have had my period last week but I had a lot of stuff going on so I started a new pack of bc pills right away so that I could skip it. Anyway, he had to swab away a lot of blood and at one point I thought I heard him say something about semen (which was weird because cc_boy and I haven't had sex without a condom for a few weeks). The worst part was when it seemed like he actually snipped off part of my cervix or something (is that what they do?). He told me not to watch but I did anyway and only got squigged out when I saw it filling up with blood.

Also, I'm still confused about HPV in general. From what I've looked at on the internet it only talks about treatment for the warts that can come with HPV. I don't have any warts but is there any kind of treatment for the virus itself?

thanks _octinoxate! I am planning on going to the sexual health clinic, my doc just moved to the states (wah!). I just reread over my last post and I sounded a lot more crass and uncaring then I was going far. Bad hellcat! I didn't think it was possible to test for HPV unless it is for the types that can lead to cancer. Well, I'll just have to go to the clinic and figure this out. The internet cannot be trusted for such an issue.

I've only had 3 sexual partners so I don't have a lot of seasoned advice for you on bringing up "the talk". With the last two partners I brought it up right before the gettin' it on started gettin' on. I suggest bringing it up earlier because it can either a) ruin the mood lead to unclear answers or c) lying. I have always asked about testing and if there was a sex partner b/w testing and I still ended up with genital warts from the guy I was in a serious monogomous relationship with. Tricky situations.

I am on the fence re: oral & condoms/dental dams. I feel like it is a neccessity in this day and age, yet I still find the idea of blowing a condom covered c*ck unappealing. I've never had experience with a dd but I hear if you put some lube b/w your skin and the dd it feels extra nice!

Well.....I've had four sexual partners. I think you have to talk to a person wayyyyyyyy before you get in the mood. It's important to tell them upfront what Std's you have and have had. I told my ex husband about my vagina problems and it was kinda weird but something that has to been done. You can't have sex with someone knowing you have an infection and or std. It's not right! It may be hard to talk to your partner but necessary.

I think it's gross that some people don't even consider to abstain from sex until marriage. And even when they do have sex, they don't use protection. It's gross. And then they whine about STDs and pregnancy.

Waiting until after you are married does not and will not protect you from an STD. Do I think sex and marriage go hand in hand? Yes! I believe marriage first, sex after that. My husband and I did not have sex until after we were married and I think it's best to wait but do I think being married will make me immune to std's? NO! People cheat. End of story!

Well, I just found out that I have HPV. I guess I shouldn't be surprised considering the statistics but still. I was also told that I have something called dysplasia. They didn't really tell me much except that they want to see me again in 6 months.

My doctor told me you can still have normal paps with the virus. Especially if it's the same doctor that first noticed changes in the cells; if there are no further changes the pap will be deemed normal, meaning everything is the same and you're safe. They won't call you every time to tell you that you have HPV if you already know. The only way to know for sure is to ask your doctor.

I'm pretty sure that if there were any abnormalities then it would have shown up on the pap. That's what happened with me. After the first abnormal pap I was sent to a gyno who confirmed that I have HPV.
