Ai Ogawa passed March 20, 2010 of cancer with very little fanfare. She was an amazing poet, performer & teacher.
WOMAN TO MAN Lightning hits the roof, shoves the knife, darkness, deep in the walls. They bleed light all over us and your face, the fan, folds up, so I won’t see how afraid to be with me you are. We don’t mix, even in bed, where we keep ending up. There’s no need to hide it: you’re snow, I’m coal, I’ve got the scars to prove it. But open your mouth, I’ll give you a taste of black you won’t forget. For a while, I’ll let it make you strong, make your heart lion, then I’ll take it back. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."

Alexander McQueen committed suicide. Damm, he was a hell of a designer. Very Brit.
And ex-Congressman Charlie Wilson died! He's that Charlie Wilson, the guy managed to clandestinely fund the Afghans in their fight against the Soviets in the late 1970's and early 1980's. A book was written and Tom Hanks played in the movie "Charlie Wilson's War". Amazing guy. Actually met him once. |

Um, it's sick, but I'm already in first place in my dead pool. Three off of my list have bought it, two certainties & a dark horse.

Ok this is going to sound weird, but I've been waiting for him to die for a long time. Maybe his daughter will publish some of the stuff he's been writing for the last forever so we can finally read it! Poor old Holden Caulfield, RIP.

Miep Gies. Almost 101 years old. One of the people that hid the Frank family in Amsterdam and the person responsible for the discovery of Anne Frank's diary. Sometimes the good don't die young.

It's sad that I watched Seasme Street so much as a kid and can't remember who Olivia was. Was she the counterpart to Gordon? Or was her name Susan? I don't know. I hate when people die, though. Celebrity or not, it's always sad.
I totally forgot about Britanny Murphy singing during the MTV Movie Awards once. It was when Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar hosted, during the opening number. She killed it, too. I didn't know she could sing until then and when she opened her mouth - wow. Man, I'm really going to miss her! It sounds weird but it's true. One of my colleagues and I - who share the same strange taste in movies and everything - had a good talk about it yesterday. And a hug. We're odd. Oh yeah, here's the link for the movie awards. She doesn't sing for very long - probably about fifteen seconds - but the whole performance is a gas. I loved it. She comes in around the 2:45 mark. -------------------- Vixi liber et moriar. |
