Gloria Jones' original of Tainted Love is great, ccgirl! And Jon Brion is incredibly talented.
My second workout class mix. I probably won't do it again for awhile, as I feel like my first mix was better. Still, this is a nice mix. In my exercise class, the instructor asked us to bring in CDs to replace the gym's house/dance music comps that he couldn't stand. I brought in a mix I made, and was so happy that the instructor dug it a lot, and encouraged me to bring in other mixes.
"Sexy Hell": Justin Timberlake and AC/DC mashup "Hypnotize the Army" Biggie and White Stripes mashup DJ Class and Kanye West "I'm the Shit" Beyonce "Freakum Dress" Ciara ft. Missy Elliott "Work" Eric B. and Rakim "Know the Ledge" Mary J. Blige "Real Love" remix Lidell "Nunu" M.I.A. "Bamboo Banga" Teena Marie "Square Biz" Ice T "Power" Steve Winwood "Roll with It" INXS "What You Need" Aaliyah/Slick Rick "Got to Give it Up" remix |

Yeah, I know it's lacking there- I'm not a big Dave Matthews fan (nothing wrong with him, just not my thing) so I don't have any and LeBoy's a big Police fan, so we have lots of it, but I'm guessing she has all of their stuff. There's a version of Roxanne by Incubus that I'm hoping she doesn't have.

It looks great, polly! I sent her one at Christmas and she loved it (by chance I'd included one of her favourite songs - River, by Joni Mitchell). Dare I say though that there is no Dave Matthews Band or Sting/The Police?

I'm making a mix CD to sent to Mandolyn, along with some other stuff. I took into consideration what she had listed here and what she has listed on her Facebook page, and added some other music that makes me happy. I'm not getting scientific and putting it in any order; below it's shown in alphabetical order, but on the CD it will be in time order. I think it's pretty good- not sure if she'll like it all.

Well, I am something of a seeker. Often times an eccentric obscurist. Or maybe I'm just trying to look cool. Nah. Music is in my bones. Got my first record player at the tender age of three & still have it.
But I know it's possible you've heard some of them, just via mersh. The Buzzcocks song was used in an AARP commercial. That pissed me off like Iggy Pop touting a cruise line that has no sex, no drugs, no rock & roll. No sex machines, either. HAH! The Gram Rabbit song was in the CSI episode "Fannysmackin'". Arctic Monkeys was an "it" band a few years ago. And that version of Cameo's "Word Up" (Korn did it, too.) was used in the CSI episode "Post Mortem". It's a rare "Full Hodges Experience" moment. The Lyrics Born song was a featured track on MySpace for a bit as well. If you'd like, you can PM me your addy & I will send you a copy for experimentation. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."

auralpoison - i was looking down your list and i'ver never heard of a single song on that list. so i went to youtube and started looking them all up. and i thought i was a pretty well rounded person when it came to music but apparently not cause the only song i'd heard on that list was Word Up and it was a different version.
interesting... |

So nobody's been here in a year. I hope it's okay that I brought this back.
I'm making a mix cd for a new friend. I know she's kinda goth-y, but she's been here long enough to be starved for real music. I'd like to think anything goes with her. So here's my list, most of it is pretty obvious new-ish singles. Any suggestions? Gram Rabbit - Paper Heart Los Campesinos - Broken Heartbeats Sound Like Breakbeats Buzzcocks - Everybody's Happy Nowadays (A tribute to Stargazer, my last mix cd goddess.) The FASHION - Solo Impala Willis - Word Up Lyrics Born - I Like It, I Love It The Gossip - Standing In the Way of Control Barry Adamson - Spend a Little Time Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On the Dance Floor Santogold - L.E.S. Artistes Vampire Weekend - The Kids Don't Stand a Chance Les Savvy Fav - Patty Lee MGMT - Electric Feel The Jealous Girlfriends - Something In the Water YACHT - See a Penny Pick It Up I'm not entirely happy with the end. I may tweak. But so far I like it. -------------------- "You're cute, like a velvet glove cast in iron. And like a gas chamber, a real fun gal."
