I'll kick it off with a proper homage to High Fidelity (but of course feel free to top 5 anything and everything under the sun).

My 5 favorite songs on the mix tape I'm currently making for my boyfriend, in no particular order:

i know i can't take them on a desert isle, but i like to top 5 intangables:

top 5 things i adore about my friend t:

1)wait--- you mean she knows about that obscure (new jack swing/soul/alt/ rap) song i thought no one else knows, AND it's on her mp3 player?!?
2)once she refered to me being transexual as my being "fancy." (as in, "that was before i knew you were fancy.")
3)her love of anything circus/bordello/freakshowish
4)the face she makes whenever she encounters ill behaved children while we are shopping/ her talking shit about parents with ill behaved children infront of them/after they've left.5)she loathes her first name more than anyone, but figures it gives her something to work against;

top 5 things i adore about my ex, kitty:
1)she had the chutzpah to love me while i transitioned.
2 her sense of baudy humor, and ability to hump odd objects/people and make my eyelids flip up from laughing so hard.
3)her body, thick legs+calves, and the most beautiful sunkissed golden brown skin.
4)wait, she loves that obscure (soul/r&b/new wave/alt/rap/hair metal/bad top 40) song, and can make me admit that i love it, inspite of my shame (esp. hair metal/bad top 40 songs)
5)she's still my best friend, inspite of my being an ass at times.

top five things i love about welding (in no order):
figuring out an exotic metal by the 3rd tack
making the smallest, prettiest, strongest, rainbow colored weld that never cracks.
welding something huge
having my helmet down, zoning out all zen-like (just like treehugger said), and watching metal fuse.
the big ol' silly grin i have on my face when someone asks what i do-- i'm a fucking welder!!! whooooo-hoooo!

bobbie gentry-- fancy, (fancy is amazing, and one of my favorite country albums of all time)
horace silver-- total response( one song-- acid, pot and pills, and it sounds like it was written durring the 'electric company era')
shirley bassey-- something! (how can you not love a western version of "light my fire," and "spinning wheel")
tom jones-- the aTOMic tom jones (i adore this album, thunderball, and soooooo much more. including the song "the face of a loser"
wayne newton-- danke schoen (yes, the danke schoen from farris beuler, but f that song, it's got a swingin' volare. this is the amazing wayne newton, the one that sounded like a teenaged k.d. lang doing crooning songs)
