I'll kick it off with a proper homage to High Fidelity (but of course feel free to top 5 anything and everything under the sun).

My 5 favorite songs on the mix tape I'm currently making for my boyfriend, in no particular order:

top 5 things i love about seattle:

1)the seattle film festival. 500+ films and about a month long. even better if you can get a press pass and see as many as you want for free.
2)the library system is phenominal
3)the lingering working class heart (although it's fast disappearing)
4)the rain, and it's reputation as a rainy city (it's really not that rainy)/living near water + mountains
5)the viaduct. seattle-ites loathe it, but i think it's sublime-- nothing is so beautiful as your first impression of a city, and to see seattle from afar, and then find yourself smack in the middle of it, the ocean on your left, skyscrapers on your right, and 3 stories above the street, well it's second only to the #1 first impression of a city (imho):pittsburgh, pa via alaghany tunnel, which is spectacularlly breathtaking.
special mention:the winter urge to hybernate

top 5 things i loved about oakland:

1)it's reputation as a tough/dangerous city (small pockets are, but otherwise it's beautiful, and very quiet)
2)jaywalking durring rush hour without looking both ways (really you don't need to-- all the traffic is in SF)
3)lake merrit
4)zak's pizza-- if you aren't full after 2 slices, you are a freak of nature. the best deep dish in the universe
5)the movie theatre downtown. it's an old gilded movie theatre that's been restored, and jaw dropping is only the start of it.
6)special mention: it's close proximity to SF and berkeley.

top 5 things i loved about pittsburgh:

1)downtown views, see first impression comment above. 3 rivers, all the bridges, and the "eggs" on the gothic ppg skyscraper.
2)it's name, pittsburgh! almost as good as living in o.k. land (aka oakland)
3)downtown. i love finding old buildings that were soot black from the old days, that had pristine sides that weren't exposed until well after
4)lots of green. it really is beautiful
5)hearing natives' pittsburgh accent (words like 'whale' are pronounced 'way-oh.'

top 5 things i love about the late evil knievil:
1)his name: no, it's not his birth name, but it's wicked, and it rhymes, what more do you want in a name?
2)the fantastic rubberneck pull of watching him do a stunt
3)the super cheesy tv bio-pic films of his life, one starring george hamilton as evil,
4)his outfits, really-- elvis was the only other person who could pull of the jumpsuit with the fold-over collar
5)the toys, and spending my child hood destroying them.
