yeah, i'm liking it too.

and mandy, my favorite shows and movies are ALWAYS about the morally challenged. lol. they're awesome!
candycane_girl
so, uh, what the hell is going on with the format? it's all blue and...weird.
doodlebug
Don't know if y'all have seen it yet, but LoungeLady explained what's going with the Lounge, here.
opheliathemuse
We're in the midst of a wardrobe malfunction.
girltrouble

is that why i feel so nekkid?
bunnyb
and fugly, I'm feeling fugly. Oh and wtf is up with the reply box? I can't click on any of the format options (they haven't loaded properly and are a random list of words, some overlapping others), which means I can't write in green which pisses me off immensely. The reply box is also automatically extending the page.

/rant
bunnyb
I've temporarily copied and pasted format code from a post made before changes and this will do for meantime but I'm hoping the reply box will be fixed (options not loading on both Firefox and IE7).

eta: through help I see that the options work perfectly in work-safe mode so using that in interim until pink martini is working again.

So ... will we be given a run-down of new features? I'm curious about the blogs and friends/personal statements/leaving comments for user but especially about the moderation section in edit personal portal information - how does this work?
kittenb
Does anyone remember the "I'm a feminist but..." thread, where we could share the things we liked even though we are a feminist? Is that the Guilty Pleasures thread now?
girltrouble

i'm excited aobut the blogs an' calendars too! that'd be fantastic. but i do miss the old format, it was goofy and easy. (and bunny is soooooo right. the lounge is damn fugly right now. blech. the format is screwed up, intimidating, sterile and wrong.)

bunnyb
yes, there was something sexy, girly and playful about the old lounge (pink does give that impression), which was kinda ironic for a feminist foruml ... kittenb, "I'm a feminist but I still like the colour pink" springs to mind!

I now need to manually type the code for green as we have less colours to choose from (albeit a funky pink).
pollystyrene
I think the original thread title was "Confess Your Feminist Transgressions". I'd be interested in that!
kittenb
And here it is: I'm A Feminist But I Still Like...confess your feminist transgressions...
Enjoy!
LoungeLady
don't worry, the old board design is coming back. just hang in there. the programmers f'ed it up. sorry.
culturehandy
Oh thank goodness, this blue is well, making me blue. I miss pink.
culturehandy
Oh on a different note. does anyone remember YM and the embarassing say anything section. I think we need a thread like that.

What do you think?
girltrouble
lounge lady? you posted some thing where you said noobs wouldn't be able to start threads for a while... will that be re-instated? i think that would be a good idea to keep trolls and porn bots out. can you also set it so noobs can't post links for that same period too?

oh, and i we gonna get bustie blogs too?

please...

pepper
while we're at it could that be changed to noobs not being able to start new threads until after FIFTY posts instead of only ten? that would be awesome.
bunnyb
pepper has brought up something that we're mostly all wanting and have discussed previously (cf. busting trolls).
opheliathemuse
I remember YM! hahaha, Culturehandy, those were so amusing and yet so awful.

Great point pepper.
culturehandy
Lounge Lady, I must agree, can we change it to 50 posts from 10?

Ophelia, that's exactly where I got it from! Your most embarassing story. Less drunkeness of course. But I suppose if that were a part of it...
doodlebug
So....I wonder how long it will be till we get our pink martini skin back? I wonder how long it takes to fix? I agree with whomever wrote it: the blue is making me morose! I miss the sass of the pink leopard print!
greenbean
yeah, its weird cuz blue is my favorite color,...but it doesnt sit right here.

Doode, I miss YM,..they gave me my first illustration job.
bunnyb
It's too clinical, I definitely need sassy back.
sybarite
I'll chime in on the request to up newbie posts from 10 to 50 before they can start a thread.
pollystyrene
50 POSTS!
50 POSTS!
50 POSTS!
LoveMyPugs
In a perfect world a newbie wouldn't be able to start a new thread unless a certain number of advanced members approved it. But for now, I'll say 50 posts as well. We don't need another ass clown coming on here posting pictures of dead babies. WTF!!
stargazer
i'm really lame. what does the whole my friends list thingy meant for. i have people adding me. i don't understand. blink.gif
pollystyrene
I'm avoiding the friends list- sounds like a recipe for trouble. Just what we need to bring out the 9-year-old girl in all of us.

So, if you add me and I don't add you back, don't take it personally.
turbojenn
50 posts!!!
50 posts!!!

I'll join the campaign!!! Seriously, that would probably eliminate all bot problems for a very long time.

I'd steer very clear of any one of us being in charge of approving posts by other members...that could get sticky, quick...plus, this board software won't do that unless members are granted moderating privileges which would really defeat our self-modded pride around here! tongue.gif

(I admin another forum for work that uses the same software as this board)
bunnyb
I'll admit to feeling funny about the friends thing ... I like to avoid anything cliquish or that would make others feel excluded. For the most part I've added people who added me first or added me for other things although it's not been completely out of obligation. In a perfect world, though, we would all be each others friends. Hmmm, not sure the lounge's intention with the friend thing at all.

Right, it makes sense, like on MySpace to have a friends list, because it so huge and people are coming from all over. Around here, it's kind of silly.
turbojenn
I'm doubting the lounge meant anything by the addition of the "my friends" feature - its just lumped into the software upgrade, and you'd have to do a custom modification of the software to turn it off, and I doubt they're going to invest in the time or $$ to pay someone to do that here.

But, yeah, its not a feature I care much about, or will use.
girltrouble

feh, i use the friends thingy for people whose posts i like reading, or that i pm. it's just faster than trying to hunt down a post from BUSTie X. plus, i'm kind of a slut like that, i pretty much add anyone who ive pm'ed, or has pm'd me, hell, sometimes it's just that they are an oldschool bustie from back in the day. come to think of it, i've added people i haven't pm'd but i love looking at their avitars.... (god i'm a dork)

i know why you don't care much for cliques bunny, all too well. you've got good reason. but like it or not, bust is cliquish. threads like okayers or kvech, or even the regional threads in friends and family, are cliques. and even inside those threads there are cliques. people have things in common, or shared experience, and they bond. yeah, there's some thread-clique overlap, but they are cliques none the less. people who post in those threads know each other really well, support and stick up for one another. no shame in that. it's human nature. people who have things in common gravitate. nothing new about that, and i think anyone who has been around here durring a blow up knows that when it goes wrong, it goes really wrong, but i think it all comes out in the wash. the cliques aren't snobby or intentionally excluding anyone, but cliques? yeah. they're cliques. that's what is great about the self moding here. but that's just my 2 cents.

50 Posts!

That's my vote. smile.gif

*puts ballot in box for 50 posts*
bunnyb
To an extent I agree with you girltrouble, although I prefer to think of okay and kvetch as close-knit as opposed to cliquish wink.gif. Most know that I'm an an idealist when it comes to the lounge (and life) and I don't want new BUSTies or BUSTies in particular threads to think that because some of us are friends (IRL too) or because some of us have been around for quite a while and established a position on the board that we are unapproachable... I don't want to add to distancing/alienate potential new friends by stating who my friends are or have this dissolve into "well I like these posters and she likes those..." /babble
mornington
50 sounds much better to me! for pictures and new threadness. that should eliminate most of problems with being self-moderated too.

i think the friends thing can be used or ignored as we choose - but the important thing is not to take offense at it. We're all friends here, but some of us are more familiar with others, depending on our situations, favourite threads, and all that. I don't think the cliques are deliberate, just natural.

are our profiles private - so that they can only be seen by BUSTies, and not by anyone?
grrrlyouwant
based on the responses in the "i'm a feminist, but i love..." thread, i'd like to propose we get our own thread for the discussion of favorite (or not so favorite) books, authors, sites, blogs, and assorted romancelandia drama. i know we already have the "looks like we've got a reader!" thread, but i'd feel silly posting all my romance reads in there, cause yeah, a lot of what's out there is kind of silly and fluffy and not something i'd cop to reading. but if there was a thread specifically for romance novels and related news, gossip, whatever, i'd feel like i wasn't wasting valuable space in the more intellectual parts of the board. though there certainly are intellectual conversations and studies of romance going on out there in academia and on various websites, and that'd be cool to cover too. i'm thinking "smart busties, trashy books" (with SB's candy and sarah's permission) in 'media whores'. so whatchoo think?
culturehandy
I like it.

Mornington, I logged out and you can still access BUSTie profiles if you are a guest.
jill
Just checking in to say hello!

I'm jill, 28 and live in philly. I would love to meet up with fellow busties!
girltrouble
hey jill, you'll want to check in in the newbies thread. read a bit of it, because busties post in there to get new busties oriented on how the lounge works. they'll love to hear from you!!!!

hey--- how would you guys feel about a thread called 'feminist spotting?"
yeah, i know, but the idea is to post places or things in the news or locally, nationally or irl around you where you see feminism at work--

like... locally there is a feminist lobby group that is pushing for a stronger family leave laws in the case of a baby or a sick relative needs care. things like that....
mornington
grrly, i'd love that. and even more so with that thread title!

gt, i'm not going to object. it would be a good place to put marches etc as well.

is anyone else uncomfortable with non-members still being able to see our profiles? is there a way we can change that?
kittenb
grrrl, considering I have almost a whole Nora Roberts bookshelf in my house, I'd probably post in your thread.
grrrlyouwant
right then, 'smart busties, trashy books' coming right up in media whores. i never did hear back from the smart bitches about yanking their style, but if they have a problem with it, well, getting a smackdown from candy and sarah would be kind of an honor. laugh.gif

Dear LoungeLady,

We love you and all you do for us, but I'm still wondering....it's been almost two weeks. Are we ever going to get the Pink Martini Lounge back? This blue makes me not want to be here.

Plus I don't know how it works with making money from the banner ads, but since there aren't any ads showing in this format, you must be losing revenue...or somebody is losing revenue, maybe the folks who pay for the ads but aren't getting the click-throughs anymore?

Thanks!

Love,
doodlebug
tesao
oh, dear, what can i do?
lounge is not
PINK
and i'm feelin' BLUE
tell me, oooooo, what can i do????

may we pretty please have our pink leopardskin back? with whipped cream and a cherry on top???

ps: there are 50 guests logged on right now. that is a LOT of unknown people lurking. i don't put anything on my profile that might identify me IRL, and that is (and always has been) why. people could see our profiles in the past, as well. no different, really. just don't put anything on your profile that makes you uncomfortable.
bunnyb
I'm suffering from PAD (pink affective disorder) sad.gif.

as for profile: at least you can't bring up profile as result of search engine search now. I omitted my location as it now available on each and every post and I like to keep a certain amount of anonymity.
tesao
((((((((((pooooooooooooooooooooor pad bunny!!!)))))))))))

see? we NEED pink!!!

has anyone else ever noticed that the last user to register is *very* frequently listed as "milkofamnesia"? i've started wondering if that is some sort of default name that the lounge lady uses when she cleans things up......

it's just happened way too often to be coincidental.....
pollystyrene
I think someone figured out when no one new registers in 24 hours, it defaults to "milkofamnesia".
mouni4
Could it be that the board always reminds me of this summer hit of some hundred years ago, where "Everything is blue.. Dee da ... Yes, could very well be. It's too long ago, and the thing is: if it was only blue but fun-looking then, even if it would still suck, one might think ok at least ..... but IT IS BLUE AND EXTREMELY BORING AND DULL LOOKING!!!
