I get the feeling this is about one poster in particular/something that's happened recently. Or maybe it's just what tipped your teapot. Not sure why it's a big deal, since ignoring is always an option. Maybe you just find it irritating that other people are being responsive to her and are interested in what she was saying and find something to resonate off of even though it rattles your sometimish sense of etiquette & proper behaviour. I generally find barging rude too, but I don't think the social crime of venting is so egregious in every situation or even worth sweating.
culturehandy
Or maybe it's about newbies who didn't introduce themselves.

ketto
Does anyone know what happened to the new OCD/anxiety thread? It was there last week, I tried to post, and I got an error. Now I can't find it and when I click on others old posts directing people there the error message comes up...
period_monster
Ketto, I've been wondering the same thing. It's been gone for a few days now, at least since last Friday.
bunnyb
So after nine posts you feel qualified to determine my "sometimish sense of etiquette and proper behaviour" and my motivations? Perhaps you identify with my potential addressees since you didn't introduce yourself either and barged into conversations. However, that's more or less expected of newbies but I cannot bear seasoned BUSTies who are rude, ignorant and use threads for their own gain when regular posters in those threads are actually dealing with things worth posting about. There are several threads on BUST that are for support; we are a community and it is polite to reciprocate and respect the forms of the thread.
culturehandy
Looks like somethin' got fuckered, I tried to google it, and the same thing happened. I did find the old anxiety thread in the lo fi version though.

I think everyone here has had the experience of having their posts ignored & being talked over.

I usually ignore posts if they are abrupt in the thread or have no intention of connecting with the conversation already occurring in a thread. if posts are being ignored, it is usually for a reason.
girl_logic
eh? Okay I guess some people have sig lines turned off. Bunny I've been here for a while. "Pulling rank" doesn't work on me anyway.
culturehandy
Vixen, I'm going to call you out, I do have signature lines tunred on and this is the first time I've ever seen who you were/are.
girl_logic
My sig has been on since I started posting. It hasn't changed (honest!)
girltrouble
vixen, it's not a matter of "pulling rank", btw, even if you have been around forever, and just need a change, it's just a good idea to post that info in the newbie thread, just so we can keep that in mind. it's where people check when they see a new name. ask ketto. hell, ask me. i've been around as long or longer than most busties, and when i changed my name, i posted it in the newbie thread. doesn't hurt, doesn't take much time, and believe it or not, it actually works BETTER than the sig. but i will vouch for your sig, i've seen/read it before. it hasn't changed.

but i can't say as i blame bunny-- there have been a couple of times when newbies, who, i can only assume had been lurking for sometime, start posting, and talking down to other newbies. and i'm like, really? who the fuck do they think they are? this place is about relationships, community, and when you come in cold, you can't expect people to react like you've got the same name tag on. you have to kinda start all over.

look, i like you, vixen/logic, but i side with bunny on this one. it never hurts to respect the rules of the road, and show courtesy to the other posters in the lounge. otherwise, you might as well be a troll or a spambot. and if you are going to act like a troll or a spambot, then you deserve to be called out, no matter what thread, sensitive or not.

now, i don't know if bunny was posting about any particular incident, or person, she says she isn't, so until she says otherwise, i think it best to take her at her word.
bunnyb
Ah, now the hostility and self-righteous attitude makes sense.
girltrouble
ok. now it's just silliness.
bunny, you need to take it down a notch.

anymore of this bs goes to the take it outside thread.
bunnyb
If there was an brow raising smiley I would use it, girltrouble.

Don't condescend to lecture me.

Whatever. vixen_within/girl logic, thirties, pugs (they're the self-obsessed posters who I so transparently posted about) and anybody else who makes my shit list can be ignored and anybody who has issues with my attitude can kindly do they same to me. There are far too many egos around here that it's becoming quite crowded.
girltrouble
it'd be a lot easier to see eye to eye, if you got down off your high horse, bunny. i'm not lecturing, you, although, i could if you'd like. i don't think you'd like, however.

if there are far too many egos around here for your taste, try removing yours. you took your shot, you said your piece, --both you and vixen/logic have. you're even, and if you've got more to say, it's just putting gasoline on the fire. no point is going to be furthered here, and it's not needed. so take it outside.

consider this my reciprocal raised brow smiley: if you wanna scrap with me, fine. just say the word. you know i don't mind a scrap, just know, you're starting it, not me.
culturehandy
vixen, I seriously didn't see it, BUT but now that I know it's you, okay. I still think you should have introduced yourself, but what's done is done. Honestly, I was thinking, who the fuck is this no introductions and just jumping in...uh please introduce yourself! anyways.
raisingirl
I have signature lines on ignore.
girltrouble
i have everything i say on ignore.
raisingirl
*snort* laugh.gif Whatever you say, BUTTAH.
girltrouble
*blush*
girl_logic
okay I can see how it looked to everybody.
girl_logic
um, i just got two messages asking what i said to bunnyb to make her erase her post in the reading thread and disappear. ????? i am not the bunnytron okay. bunny has her own voice which she has shown she knows how to use. ask her please! I don't know the woman outside of her posts here! and frankly, before posting in this thread last week we'd never had anything much to say to each other so i don't even know what her prior issues with me might or might not be, i really don't. or how this got around to being about me and her (especially since the exciting post in question was beleted well before i got around to visiting bust this morning.) i mean...come on. i sometimes feel like there are a lot of unlikely assumptions in float on the board. this is a little bit much though.
girltrouble
uh, maybe it's be but that seems something that would be better suited to a pm reply rather than another public airing of dirty linen.
raisingirl
Girl Logic, it might be time to pack up your victim mentality. *yawn*
girltrouble
let's not attack, please. please?
if my post was viewed as harsh, i didn't mean it that way. personally i just think there are ways around the drama hitting the surface here.
Persiflager
Hi all! I had a couple of texts from Bunny yesterday and she's decided to take a proper break from the Lounge rather than just posting in the 'lighter' threads about books and films. She said she found she was taking even those discussions a bit too much too heart, which I suspect refers to the post she deleted. I very much doubt it was anything to do with you, girl-logic.

Bunny's ok though, and contactable on Facebook.

raisingirl
I'm not attacking. I'm done with it, GT.

Yup, I know that, and you know that, but the assumption was obviously out there (if not one, but two people who had never contacted me before) and I wanted to clear it up for good. GT, dutty, clean, it makes sense to me to air this and make clear and public.

Raisin you missed my point, spectacularly hun.
zoya
oh goody, more drama being created instead of taken to PM and addressed privately. **yawn.**

girltrouble

auralpoison
So . . . how 'bout them Mets? Think they'll do it this year?

I never did get around to starting the sport thread. I'll get on that.

And GT? I, um, love the UFC, too. Even better than the wrasslin'.
Persiflager
Go sporty-type things! I'm heading to my first roller derby game in a couple of weeks, so will report back then.

Has there ever been an 'Anywhere but here' thread? I seem to be spending a lot of work-time recently concocting yummy alternative realities.
candycane_girl
Does anyone know what happened to that thread about silly things that we've done or said? I think it was called Smart Busties, Stupid Moments or something.
girltrouble
anyone up for a (bitching about) oprah thread?
i was thinking the oprah boot club. or if you've got something better...

candy, do you know what section it was in? it's a bitch finding anything if you don't know the section.

I bumped the thread for you in the Family and Friends thread.
kittenb
Anywhere But Here bumped for Persiflager.
Persiflager
Thanks kittenb!
stargazer
Did we ever have a thread about computer stuff? Or, do I just use the Bust general knowledge thread? I have a question about my mac that I need some Busties input about.

Thanks!
auralpoison
I bumpded the computer thread for you, dunno how much good it'll be.
stargazer
Thanks AP! smile.gif

**hoping there's a 'puter geek in the Lounge**

I bumped up the Ack! The what do I want to do with my life thread! Finding your passions for career and otherwise thread in Working Girls for anyone who's interested in discovering and pursuing her life's passion. I figure it's springtime, good for growing, you know?

GT, I'm still interested in an Oprah thread, focusing on her show and not her personally. There was also the suggestion in the thread that we include the other Harpo spinoff shows like Dr. Phil, the Doctors, the satellite radio shows, etc. Don't get me wrong: I think there would be a lot to talk about if we just stick to the Oprah show, but the others kind of piggyback on it sometimes, too.

raisingirl I feel a huge contribution to this thread coming on when I have more time and am not supposed to be working (heh)

I'm still pretty new and don't want to go about this the wrong way, so am deferring to the wiser Busties....

what's the protocol for resurrecting old threads? Just do it or check here first? I know not to start a new topic w/o running it by here, but I've been thinking that it would be great to have some sort of Bustie musician (or aspiring musician) space. I found something called Guitar Music in Media Whores that's pretty old and short...shall I just post my thoughts there or is there an interest in creating a new more all purpose musician thread (esp considering I'm not a guitar player smile.gif ), or is there another more appropriate thread that I missed?
auralpoison
If it already exists, it's pretty much okay to just bump it. But do keep in mind that if a thread has languished it is likely that it will continue to do so unless you find some like minds to keep it alive. EG: Only a handful of Busties are musicians, I think Doodle is the only regular Bustie that performs frequently. I know somebody around here is a singer, but I cannot think of who; I play bass, but am not much of one for talking about it.

Generally speaking, when *I* want to start a new thread, I post in here & if I get few nos & several yeses, I go for it. It is important to give it a few days for feedback because you never know how often folks check in here.
girltrouble
yay raisin!

i think an oprah & co thread would give us some current event topics, and be very interesting, but a oprah sux thread would be short lived. i'm much more interested in the former rather than the latter.

so any great titles for the oprah (& co) thread?
stargazer
((((((mermeg)))))) i think you are the first poster in a long time that has done her research of threads and evens ask for permission to start up the thread again. impressive! i thought someone with the name bass in their moniker started a musicians thread, but i could be totally wrong. i don't see any harm in starting up an already existing thread. like AP said, if it didn't take, then it is for a reason.

as for the oprah thing, i liked prophecy's suggestion in the CBC thread to have it be a deconstructing oprah thread. but, i like raisin's thought of expanding it. maybe a talk show thread to expand it? or we could just use the tv thread for now.
Mermeg
So after thinking about it some more I'm not going to bother resurrecting that old guitar thread. I'm excited because I've just recently picked up the bass again, but I realize that I actually don't have that much to say about it other than that and I'm definitely not up to the level of wanting to "talk shop" when I can barely tune the damn thing, so yeah huh.gif Think I'll just condense my thoughts and put it in the little pieces of happiness thread. But thanks for the responses everyone! At least I know what to do in the future.

And thanks for the praise stargazer! I'll try not to let it go to my head. *smugly glances towards other newbies* wink.gif Glad my effort was appreciated, even though it was hardly a chore digging through the archives...lots of long buried fascinating conversations to be found...
Persiflager
Hey Mermeg! I sing in a choir and would happily contribute to a music thread if it got started up again. I've been a bit lazy about practice lately so am also slightly rusty rolleyes.gif
raisingirl
I can't think of good titles at the moment, GT. Let me ruminate for a while. Maybe an anagram of her name? There are online generators.

ETA: Porn Hairy Few?!?!?! blink.gif

What about stealing the joke from the recent Kathy Griffin routine and calling it "Oprah: She'll Cut A Bitch"? Here's a video of it.
girl_logic
Anyone going to start a musician's music thread?

btw Auralpoison bumped the mixed tape swap thread is anyone else into that? These are the rules as far as I can tell (copy and pasting from someone who organized the last swap)

"send me in a PM the following (if you haven't already):

-name or pseudonym
-mailing address
-who you've swapped with before, and if want to swap with them again or branch out
-how many CD's you're willing to make
-theme desired, if any (i.e., music to work out to, etc)"

and then everyone's name goes in a hat and the organizer PM's you the name of your swap partner. Is that how it goes? Whatever, sounds like fun.
