actually, the olive--next to anything--signifies a thread that you've posted in (or a poll that you've voted in). glad you dig it, though.

I am so disgusted by the troll that started a thread in Working Girls to advertise animal porn websites.

That just pisses me off!

ok, this is kinda creepy. did you know that you can see who is looking at what by clicking "by topic" or "by member" at the bottom of the main screen?
i can see who's got bv, irritable bowel, checking out but not posting in the anal sex thread, etc. weird.

I kind of like it. I lurk more than I post, it's just my style. I'm the same in real life conversation too: I listen more than I talk. But in real life, people know they're talking to me. Here, people don't always know I'm reading, so it creates this wierd dynamic where I know and recognize people way better than they do me. This gives me a little more of a presence.

Yeah, I've logged in as anonymous and lurked on occasion. Just to know that I can -- and if other people do it, so can I. But, with the previous lounge, it wasn't an *issue* , right? I mean, your name wouldn't pop up at the bottom.
That said, I don't get offended if I see a familiar name is reading but they don't post, and, also, we have to realize that anyone or everyone *in the world* could be reading anything or everything we post, anywhere. That's just reality.
People who come in under different names and a) don't declare it

it's not because of a dingo
kinda creep me out though...
THAT much manipulation has a more unpleasant feel.

I swear, the only reason I looked in the latest fundie thread was to get into the poster's profile to add him to my ignore list. Is the "report" button new? You click on it, and you can send a message to LoungeLady (or whoever). I already asked her to delete the thread.

Aug 28 2006, 09:17 PM
pollystyrene, i just came in to ask how to use the ignore function (i'm hopelessly inept at this new board), so i can ignore the new fundie troll. someone explain please?
ETA: nevermind, found it.
bunnyb
Aug 29 2006, 04:10 AM
where's the report option? eta: found it (bottom of post). It's like a tag-team effort, we get rid of one and the other reappears.
working girls took another hit for the team.

Is the forum in LTAS for real? I think we're pretty ok at answering Qs about sex around here ... we have some pretty knowledgable BUSTies in all things sexual.
sixelacat
Aug 31 2006, 12:07 PM
True, bunny, but I think they're just looking for material for the mag. I think it would be interesting if they took some of the questions already asked/answered by BUSTies from LTAS, just to see if Ms. Dodson's answers were any different. Hard to picture her coming up with anything more creative than our own *very* imaginative sexperts, though!

i sort of wish the poster would have come in here with it. the way it is reeks of spam and i think will prevent from BUSTies taking it seriously...
i was sort of tweaked when i viewed new posts and saw the same thing in 9 different threads. maybe that's just me.

hey chicas in vancouver or with van info...
my girlfriend has just landed in the city with her two kidlets and the place they had lined up to stay fell through at the last minute. they are on their way overseas on not much more than a wing and a prayer, waiting for their emerg passports to be ready, so they don't have a lot of cash. she's got a hostel for tonight ($70, highway robbery!) but nothing is available after that. anyone got a line on a place they could crash? she's thinking of scrounging up a tent and parking it in stanley park, she's that desperate, so if anyone in or around or from vancouver knows of anything at all, please pm me and let me know. thanks so very, very much!!!

I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a self-harm thread being in OBOH then where this new one was. (The original seems to be gone, unfortunately.)
It just seems more appropriate to me.

Sep 2 2006, 06:21 PM
that IS the original thread where it used to be (it's dated may 06). it was bumped back onto the board. though i do agree, oboh would be a better place for it than family and friends...
you could mention it in the thread and see if the other participants there would like to start a new one and let that one drop off the board.

Sep 2 2006, 06:35 PM
Or maybe the Lounge Lady could move the thread to OBOH. I know that moderators on other message boards can do that sort of thing.

Sep 2 2006, 09:11 PM
That sounds like a good idea. It's certainly possible with the Invision board, but considering the hands-off approach used here I don't know if it will happen.
Pepper--I get confused with this new board figuring out what is new and what isn't. I must have remembered wrong. (I'm thinking of a thread that went back at least a few years--is this that one. Not that it's terribly important one way or another. Just curious.)
My thinking was that people would be more likely to find it in OBOH.
bunnyb
Sep 3 2006, 08:58 AM
I assumed it would have been in OBOH which is why I only searched there. If I remember correctly the Self Harm one in F&F was started by newb then dropped off.

Hello Ladies,
Where is the ignore button? This amazing bass character is getting on my nerves. My boyfriends virginal younger brother has a gamer geekozoid friend with a nickname similar to that, mmmm....I wonder if it's him. I couldn't ask him though. He seems like just the kinda guy to do shit like this. Oh well. Where is that button, I keep hearing so much about?

my controls-options-manage ignored users-enter asshat's name.
or, view his profile, click on profle options which will bring drop-down list and click ignore user.

He must have a truly sad and pathetic life.

Kudos to the troll killers!!
Otay. I need help. Can anyone help me find the thread that was started to talk about their S.O. and porn? I am normally fine with my pardner looking at porn, but I notice that he clicks on "find singles in your area" sites once in a while and it bothers me. I trust him and plan on broaching the subject but would appreciate hearing about other people's experiences.
~thanks in advance~
