for some reason, when i woke up this morning my brain started in with willie nelson singing "there's nothing quite like texas on a saturday night."
can't fathom why.

doodle, those are some amazing lyrics! Very powerful!
My current stuck-in-my-head songs are "If I Had You" by Adam Lambert (I know, I know), and also "I Would Do Anything For Love" by Meatloaf AND! "Don't Turn Around" by Ace of Base. I don't know why "Don't Turn Around", though - I haven't heard it in ages! Bah.

omfg. does anyone ever have the experience of having a song--some random, out of the blue song--all of the sudden permeate their day? "ain't no sunshine" is one of those today. no less than 3 times today has it come on my radar in some form...

that is a great song... and his blueprint 3 got lukewarm reviews, but i rather like it. i think it's jay's most mature album yet.

i've been wondering how that cd is. i'm a little wary that it's going to be a little too tori cliche, if that makes sense.

I may buy it. Right now, I'm previewing it on Youtube.
I didn't even know she had a new cd. I haven't bought anything from her in years.

When we swam our love to pieces
We washed up on messy beaches
You cleaned dry
I would not drift yet
I should drink salt water to forget
Oh why, oh why, oh why
Won’t you sing
Bring your hips to me
Oh bring your hips to me
Well once I arrived
But you would not receive me
I wanted it all
You could not tell
Then I paid expensive attention to detail
The fall of your face
The wish of the well
The rush of the push
The length of the spell
And you won’t
Bring your hips to me
Oh bring your hips to me
You tug so lightly on me
Work like you are on vacation
While I was swept wide
I wept for you across the nation
All my love I deny
When they place their hands
On both my sides

Turn on my V.C.R.
Same one I've had for years
James Brown on the T. A. M. I. show
Same tape I've had for years
I sit in my old car
Same one I've had for years
Old battery's running down
It ran for years and years
Turn on the radio
The static hurts my ears
Tell me where would I go
I ain't been out in years
Turn on the stereo
It's played for years and years
An Otis Redding song
It's all I own
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
Plug in my M.C.I
To exercise my brain
Make records on my own
Can't go out in the rain
Pick up the telephone
I've listened here for years
No one to talk to me
I've listened here for years
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When I feel lonely here
Don't waste my time with tears
I run 'Deep Throat' again
It ran for years and years
Don't like the food I eat
The cans are running out
Same food for years and years
I hate the food I eat
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
When the world is running down
You make the best of what's still around
Turn on my V.C.R.

This is what happens when you watch your kid's movies with them.
The chorus to a song from Madagascar II for at least three days now. I wake up with it in my head.
"She like my eyes,
She thinks I'm funky.
She like my thighs,
She like me chunky."
Those of you who have heard the song know EXACTLY why it's stuck in my head. Ooh, that Barry White-ish voice...

I have the song Losin' You by Jan Terri stuck in my head. Awful singing, awful video, but catchy lyrics and tune. She's a local artist (for Chicago) who tried to get a music career in the 80s and early 90s and was on the Jon Stewart show in a segment a while ago. It's hard to tell if she really takes herself seriously or not.

Weirdly, what's been sticking in my head completely unbidden when I first awake has been bad late eighties/early nineties pop. The other morning it was "King of Wishful Thinking" & the day before that the Jets. Seriously. The FUCKING JETS. I remember being given that CASSETTE by my parents at my swank thirteenth birthday dinner at the Pizza Hut. Pan Pizza & salad bar & the Jets.
I am assuming Corbin Bleu is some tween pop person; he has a name that sounds like he's a star on some kind of twink porn site.

"I Was Born to Sing Sad Songs" is my favorite new tune by my favorite new band, Agent Ribbons. (Natalie Gordon initially wrote the song for tourmates Cake but wisely decided to keep it for herself.) You'll be able to read all about Agent Ribbons in the next issue of BUST, but please take this opportunity to listen to them right now! And if you like the ballad, you might wanna check out their cool little rocker
