Thank you Cancan for your information! I looked up the list of the many different vegetables that supply our bodies with fructooligosaccharides and inulin. I'm going to the grocery store tonight. Getting our nutritional needs from supplements may boost up the body process much faster, but if I keep buying the many different supplements, probotics, and vitamins....I won't be able to afford to eat! lol Changes in our diets will be more than difficult, but since we are creatures of habit...let's make this a new habit to where anything else would seem strange!

Since I am a lousy chef, I think it should be mentioned that overcooking, improper storage, and overripeness harm the nutritional values of these foods.

Something else i can't help but to blab about....and I need investigate....how to improve our stomachs ability to absorb these nutrients and minerals.

I hate mentioning to you all that I have a lot of nasty ass mucous in my bowel moments...is this a sign that your body doesnt have a good ability to absorb fats and nutrients? I had my cholesterol checked once...and the good kind that our body needs...it was very low......

I FINALLY got my results back and it is, in fact, the bv again. So, it is the bv that's causing all of this burning. I may be a rare case, but I'm still a very real one. I hope this 14 days of Flagyl works...

I just noticed that ever since my colpo, my discharge has turned into WATER. I'm leaking brown stuff all in my underwear now. I know the brown is from the biopsies, but isn't this copious watery discharge something you ladies experience as a common symptom of the bv? I think the colpo has made my bv WORSE!

The watery fishy smelling discharge drips out of me sometimes, and has changed to several different colors with the different remendies I have tried.

Morphia, I haven't tried the Flagyl yet, just the metrogel. I have the prescription, but I'm not ready to use it yet. I want to fucking know what bacterias are in my snatch first..and I'm still in search of a good doctor. But since you just had that colpo..take the flagyl full speed ahead, and take really good care of yourself while on it. Make sure you stear clear of putting anything in your vagina. Did they tell you not to have sex 10 to 14 days afterward? They did me... I'd try and wait a month if you could. Certain people take longer to heal from such things. My guess is you are in that boat. They cut a piece of your cervix right? They did me. I'm not really sure if that was something they do standardly with a colpo or just an extra. All I know is they told me that they we not gonna cut a piece since I was pregnant...but yet they still did.

My doctor didn't tell me anything. Just cut 4 or 5 pieces of my cervix and sent me on my way, crying. I've been seeing him for YEARS and I can't believe it has taken me so long to finally realize what an insensitive, stupid piece of shit he is.

Morphia,
I just wanted to mention an idea to as well. After I had my baby..for 10 days I had to rinse off my vagina with water after I peed, and dry her with sterile guaze(I didn't have stiches with the second child). I really don't think that it is a bad idea for you to do. Also, don't use regular water, or if you do boil it.

People with HIV are told to boil water they use( if our water is so safe then why do they have to do that?)...I don't think it's a bad idea for your case. Just to be sure there are no bacteria in your water.. Boil a bunch let it cool and put it in your fridge for the day. Make sure you wash your hands before you go to bath room too.

I'm sorry if my advice sounds obsessive, but honestly, I think it might help you.

Tell me about it. I have spent so much money on suppliments lately. But, it is worth it if I get rid of this infection! And besides, I would like to get pregant soon, and if this infection has damaged anything on my insides, then it will be a hell of a lot more expensive going to doctors to try to become fertile again.

I am not always in the mood to cook either. So on lazy days, like today, I just throw it all together! I made an omelette, and just threw in the vegetables. Done. I didn't even concern myself about sauteeing the vegis first. And for the Wild Yam, I just take the tablets.

I went to a Naturopathic MD eight years ago, and she did all of this blood work on me, and then told me that I wasn't absorbing my foods properly. So she gave me hydrochloric acid tablets to take with my meals to help with digestion. But you have to test first: You have to take one tablet right before the last mouthful of your meal. If you feel uncomfortable, then you know you have enough HCL in your stomach. Stop. Don't take any more pills. If you feel nothing, then you take more with the next meal. And then the next. If you still don't feel the acid burning or indigestion, then you probably don't have enough HCL in your stomach, and aren't digesting food properly.

And you mention your cholesterol was low when tested? Hmmm. I would have this tested again if I were you. Good cholesterol in your body is key.

You mention your cholesterol was low when tested? I would have this tested again if I were you. Cholesterol in your body is important because it is used for production of hormones. Progesterone, Pregnenolone, DHEA, Estradiol, etc. Cholesterol starts a cascade of all hormones. Not having enough cholesterol can cause a downward spiral in your body. Not having enough progesterone and or estrogen can cause thinning of the intestinal walls, and vaginal walls, etc. and thinning of all mucosa in your body. You need your mucosa in your intestines to prevent infection of bacteria, as with the vagina. In the vagina, you need the mucosa barrier so that the bacteria doesn't get pushed into the vagina itself. The mucosa basically keeps all microbes in check, and also flushes out a lot pathogens. At least this is what I understand so far from what I've read. If your mucose membranes are thin, the bacteria just gets pushed further and further into your body, which is what you don't want. Sex will also push the bacteria into your skin and aggrevate because you don't have a protective barrier there. Your hormones can be out of balance at any age. Numerous women here have mentioned that their BV could be caused by a hormonal imbalance? I am going to have mine tested to see if this is my problem. I found a website that sells saliva tests. I don't want to start taking hormone pills and creams unless I am tested first, and know that something is off. Once tested, I will at least have a baseline of information to work from.

I don't know about the other ladies but I do get the burning. It's not an all the time thing, but it's definately there. I notice it more when i'm wearing tight jeans and things that don't let my area ventilate. When I went to my doc. and told her that I thought it was BV again because the burning is very discomforting she replied, "Burning is a symptom of BV." Everyones body is diffrent and we all have different symptoms. rolleyes.gif

I just remember that as a child my mother said she took me to the doctor's office alot because I would get cheesy discharge. I had yeast infections as a baby what the hell? My vagina is extremly delicate and any little thing disturbs it's pH balance. I've had this problem as a child, and now after 16 years it hasn't got any better. It just keeps getting worse. When I got preg. is when everything FLARED up. & now i'm just desperate to find a cure, or atleast somethig to help with the symptoms.

If it's not BV it's yeast, and its become a vicious cycle. The yogurt didn't help me when I inserted inside, neither did the acidophillus capsles I've taken. I have a yogurt a day, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I mentioned before on here the other day that I bought a product called FEMMESIL. Apparently that just made matters much worse. It has some type of silver mineral or ingredient that's supposed to kill off all bacteria, yeast, and viruses. But I think it's full of shit. =(

OOPS, didn't need to double post that other comment. lol.

Ilovehim that is very strange that you had those as a child. My mom said that I did too...but I don't remember. I do remember getting catherders (sp) stuck in me time after time after time..and antibotic treatments again and again.

Did you ever find out if you or your mom were carriers of strep b?

Hello everyone!

I am new to this forum and just want to say THANK GOD that I found this website! I am 22 years old and have been suffering from chronic bv for over a year now. Doctors continue to act as if it is no big deal and give me repeated courses of Flagyl (YUCK!). BV has totally ruined my sex life with my boyfriend and it is so depressing. I have tried everything and nothing works. Unlike most women who experience discharge and odor, I only get the burning. It occurs every month right before my period and will not go away unless I take more Flagyl only to return again the next month. I have tried natural methods like yogurt, hydrogen peroxide, and tea tree oil but nothing works. I don't use tampons, only where cotton underwear, don't take bubble baths or use scented soap, and I don't even venture towards hot tubs. I also have tried the folic acid but so far nothing. I just recently started taking these herbal pills called "Botanical Advantage" so I will give it some time to see how it works. Anyways, thank you ladies for sharing your experiences. I really thought I was all alone. I do believe that my bv has something to do with hpv even though doctors say it doesn't. I was told I had hpv about a year ago and thats when I started getting bv all the time. I just want to find something that works so I can have my sex life back!!! Any input is greatly appreciated! Talk to you all soon.

Jennifer

Have many of you ladies done much research on Candida yeast?? Quite quite interesting. I'm taking a nap. And with any self control that I have left...stay off the computer the rest of the night.

Genesis....Can we nominate you to call Ophra...you are so swift with your words...you even made me cry! ( a good cry though) because, I agree, with all of us here working together on this..we will figure it out!

God promised that he would never give us more than we can bare, and to seek and we will find. I was getting pretty close to the point of not wanting to bear anything much longer...but he reminded me of his promises...and he isn't gonna let us down....

I found a silver cross that I lost 15 years ago laying at my door step this morning....I have moved 8 times in my whole life, and havent seen it since the 15 years ago...I KNOW it's the same one I lost.

Morphia
Hey, Jennifer. Welcome (although unfortunate ) to the board! You and I are probably the youngest ones here! I'm 21 and started on my bv trek about 2 or 3 months ago although I know I've had it for much longer. I believe I "contracted" it at the same time I got warts from my ex bf. We had sex once and that was enough to give me a raging outbreak from hell! The warts are gone but it seems the bv will stay with me as a lingering reminder of that awful mistake. I also have high risk hpv. I had to have a precancerous condition removed from my vulva via laser over a year ago and now I'm showing changes on my cervix. I do believe there is no doubt that HPV and BV are related.

I have found a little bit of hope today. A woman at the yahoo bv support group told me that she was able to clear her infection with a 14 day course of Flagyl and the infection hasn't come back yet. Although I don't know how long she has been free from infection at least I know that there is a chance I can get rid of this burden even for a short time. My symptoms have been relentless for the past 3 months. I want this stuff gone!

i had my gyno appointment today. it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be. she didn't have use a bunch of different swabs. i did find out that i have UTI though. what the hell?! so now i have bv and a UTI, greatttttt. she wanted to give me flagyl but i told her no. i'm on antibiotics for the UTI. i'm just a little worried though because i had no idea i had it, i have no symptoms. how am i going to tell if it went away? well now i am going to be drinking lots and lots and loottttss of water and peeing a lot haha. anyway so i started yeast arrest today i will be doing that and i'm going to buy the fem-dophilus. i'll keep everyone updated. i wonder what i'll have next time i go to the doctor :\

Ah! Another youngen! wink.gif

It turns out that my watery discharge probably wasn't discharge to begin with. Its been three days since my colpo and it turns out that I am bleeding! It was brown in my underwear, but red on my vagina! I called the doctor and he told me that if its bright red (it is, which is exactly why I called in the first place) and it hasn't stopped by tomorrow, to come in and they'll have to "retreat" me. God...I hate my vagina. I'm probably going to take FOR-EV-ER to heal.
anitsirhc
by the way... the antibiotic i'm on for the UTI is Septra. has anyone used that before? bad? good? i'm really sceptical about antibiotics now.

Well, the thing is its not old blood. Its new blood. I thought that it was old blood because it was brown on my underwear. It wasn't until I actually looked at my vag that I realized it wasn't so old after all. Looks like I'll be making another trip to the doc tomorrow! Woooohooooooooooo!

I used septra....the uti is gone..for now....I'm gonna check with my doctor to see if he will get me some test strips to monitor for uti's. ( I know a friend who has them.) I go see him this friday. He's not doing my pap, he wants me to see a specialist...I'm hoping that he refers me to someone good. He's an older doctor that used to treat me as a child and my mother. He saved her life and diagnosed a disease she had when 7 other specialists kept telling her there wasn't anything wrong with her. The other doctor that I was seeing wouldn't listen to nothing I had to say...didn't want to take time to answer any questions..my blood pressure was 144 over 98..just put me prozac and sent me on my way. So of course since he didn't listen to anything else that I was concerned about, I sure as hell didn't mention the recoccuring BV.

I got some cranberry herbal supplements..thought it might be a good try since drinking cranberry juice with sugar isnt the best choice.

Do these bacteria just migrate back and forth?

Go right now and read this article about yeast infections that I just found I don't know how to attach links but I will list the name of the article and hopefully you can find it...I think it will help you!!!!!!!!!!!! If you can't find it...I am having a friend that is coming over tommorow that is giving me some computer dumbass training 101. Let me know if your doctors have already researched these rare strains of yeast and get back to me.

Your mother can pass many rare strains of yeast to you!

If you have true, re-occuring B.V., I hate to be the barrier of bad news, but the Flagyl, orally, won't work. It will VERY temporarily, but you will get a yeast infection, and your B.V. will return. If this is a one time case for you, then you might get lucky and it will work.

For me, Flagyl vaginally is the ONLY solution right now. Mine is gone. And, I'm not doing any preventative either.

I've had reoccuring B.V. now for 5 going on 6 yrs. And this is the first time, I've gone MONTHS, with no smell. Even after sex.

So...The solutions are here girls, Flagyl Vaginally, Estroil, and maybe 1 or two others. All these other remedies you all are trying, are not going to work, IN THE LONG RUN. AND THAT'S JUST MY OPPINION!!!!

I don't think it's a good idea to keep sticking crap up your twat...yeast can grow at an acidic level of 2.5 through basic 7.5. Your gonna be shit out of luck when the bacteria and yeast become resistant to your short term solution. But that's just my opinion.

Hi there all, I just finished my period and I've been using the boric acid during, which helps with the smell. So now it is a few days after and I checked my ph yesterday and it was back to acidic, but I went out yesterday and had some drinks (alcohol) and when I checked the ph this morning it was heading back towards basic and I have that slight ammonia smell and wetness. F%ck!!!!!! So I am going to break down and use the flagyl vaginally tonight. I am a little worried about a rebound infection, but WTF, I will deal with that if it happens. Luckily (?) I am not sexually active right now....I hope the flagyl works...
jewelscando
Maybe...maybe not. But, it's working. And my doctor hasn't said to stop doing it. And why are you so angry. I was just giving my opinion. Damn.... AND YOUR SOLUTION IS WHAT???? Oh yeah, that's right, you don't have one.

Edit: I've only had to use the Flagyl vaginally twice, in the last 5 months. So, to me....that's worth it.
arj75
Yeast are not as innocent as everyone thinks..can be very dangerous, and can become as resistant as bacteria. We need to split this group up on our research. I'm not interested in a short term solution. What are we all gonna do when the all antibotics fail?

Does anyone know if the metro gel and flagyl contain aluminum? I'm scared to ask.

Well, this forum is for B.V. it specifically says so. BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS OR EMBARRASING BAD SMELL. Does the Bust Lounge have a Yeast infection forum??

Well, so far my bv is not recurring. It is resistant. As in the last two rounds of antibiotics didn't get rid of it at all. The seven days of Flagyl helped. It helped enough that I was able to have sex once. lol. Which is why I have hope that the 14 day course may eradicate it. At least for a short period of time. A temporal solution for me right now is better than no solution at all.

K, check this out. Finally found something online that speaks of putting the Flagyl in vaginally. They call it Flagyl Vaginal Tablets

HERE'S THE WEBISTE

http://www.healthtouch.com/bin/EContent_HT...inal&cid=HT

For vaginal tablets dosage form:
For bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis:
Adults and teenagers—One 500-mg tablet, inserted high into the vagina. Use the medicine once a day in the evening for ten or twenty days.

*****I personally only use for 2 days. That's all I need.

Jewels, I'm not angry. I'm worried! I don't trust doctors, most just want a paycheck like everyone else. And while your doctor may seem very interested and helpful..some are really good at acting like they give a fuck. They want your business like everyone else......

Your right, I don't have a solution, but I don't want make things worse. I'm really concerned about all of us and the fact that doctors aren't doing tests to be sure of what it is that they are even dealing with. A wiff test tells them we have bv. so the fuck what...what other bacterias are there in it. I have already read an article about a girl with reoccuring bv, (a virgin) and the bacteria that was causing it for her was from a damn ear infection that somehow managed to get down in her genitals. I'm saying we need to know more than just assuming its the most "popular" bacteria before treating it. Tonight, I have been reading about yeast, and discovering some scary ass shit!!!

I remember you saying that all you have left are your ovaries right? So do you still have estrogen? ( I don't know much about your history. but yeast feed off of estrogen, just so you know. (concerned, I'm very concerned.
jewelscando
I understand your concern. And trust me. I'm 38yrs old. Ok.... I have 4 kids, and I've been suffering from this shit for a long time. I know what triggers mine, which for me is sex, OR BETTER YET, to much of it.

I do have my ovaries which still produce hormones, estrogen and whatever else. I don't have a cervix or uterus, hence no periods. Is what I'm doing going to heal me? HELL NO. I'm just as interested in a CURE as anyone else on this board. But, I won't wait around for a cure, when I have something right here right now that's working. I'll continue my search, just as you all are. But in the mean time. I have no B.V. I don't smell itty bitty fish heads popping their heads through my vagina, and what little sex I have, well, it's stress free.

So....that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.... wink.gif

Well, this forum is for B.V. it specifically says so. BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS OR EMBARRASING BAD SMELL. Does the Bust Lounge have a Yeast infection forum??

Jewels, you have some issues...man really.. you do. Arent many of us battling the two at the same time or back and forth? So, maybe you should start your own page. Your the only one that I hear complaining. Give me a damn break.. There are 200 different yeast strains...do you know that you don't have a one of them? Honestly, I hope you don't. Really. But like I have read tonight, just because you don't burn or itch or have cottage cheese..doesn't mean your body isnt invaded by them. They kill good bacteria too. They crowd em out.

Hi Morphia, doesn't it just suck being a woman sometimes?? Men have no idea what women have to deal with. I was told I had hpv last year and had to have a leep procedure in May 06. I had repeat paps and everything was coming back good. My last pap however, showed signs of hpv (low-grade) and now I am having my second colposcopy this month to see if I need another leep done sad.gif I have been having bv every month and the only way I know that it is occurring is if I try to have sex because it burns horribly. I don't really get discharge or smell. If it's a bad month then I will have a little discharge. I have been tested repeatedly for every STD know to man and I have nothing (besides the hpv). I really wish doctors would try a little harder to find a cure...there has to be something out there besides tons and tons of flagyl.

By the way, I thought I read that you had the same symptoms as me...the burning. Do you ever get any other symptoms besides the burning?

Please accept my apologies for what I am about to say, but I for one am really grateful for Jewels and her posting on this site. She has agreed to be somewhat of a guinea pig with the vaginal flagyl, and just offers her opinions and experiences for the rest of us to have something to go on. All of this infighting and name calling reminds me of some high school BS... Jewels, please don't give up on this site and those of us who want to hear what you have to say. Peace (and I mean that sincerely).

When I was first diagnosed with bv the only other symptom I had was a thick, white, pasty discharge that looked like Elmer's glue. I couldn't see it unless I looked as far up in my vagina as I could see. I actually had to work it out by flexing! It clung to the walls like glue! lol. I was put on Clindesse as a first round of treatment and I haven't had that discharge since. But it didn't eradicate the infection and my burning has been worse ever since. STAY AWAY FROM CLINDESSE AND OTHER CLINDAMYCIN CREAMS. I firmly believe they are too strong and may cause damage to some of the nerves. The first night I had the Clindesse in, I could feel little stabs of pain like needles with electricity going through them. Before I was diagnosed with BV and before I used the Clindesse I would get very raw and irritated on my vulva during sex. It would hurt like hell to pee and I actually had some tearing of the skin. But 5 days after I used the Clindesse I tried to have sex with my bf and I was burning so bad on the inside it felt like he had cotton wrapped around his penis. Everyone here thought it was yeast, but I tested negative for yeast and positive for bv. I don't get it. The Clindesse helped with the discharge but made my pain worse.

As of today my symptoms are burning, a very mild discharge, and a faint odor that's not fishy. My bf just describes it as "not right." Although since I had my colpo on the 18th I have a very strong odor of vagina and iodine. That's the only way I can really describe it. lol. I can smell it just sitting here. sad.gif

Does anyone hate Flagyl as much as I do??? I have had it soooo many times and I really don't think I can take it again. It tastes so disgusting and makes me really sick to my stomach (and I don't drink any alcohol). Just curious if it makes anyone else sick.

Has anyone tried RePhresh? I have used it a couple of times and even though it didn't take the bv away, it helped reduce the amount of burning so I was able to have sex without wanting to cry.
jewelscando
Your right, I DO HAVE ISSUES. IT'S CALLED BACTERIAL FUCKING VAGINOSIS. That's the only issue I have. And no, I'm NOT batteling yeast with B.V. It's always 1 or the other. Do I know that for 100% certain, no, I can only say what I do know. I never said I was 100% right. I'm just here to offer my advice. You are in no way shape or form, obligated to take it.

And what the hell crawled up your ass tonight, and decided to shit on me. I'm pretty neutral in this board, except for when there's idiots that come on, trying to sell us shit, that we know doesn't work.

Don't worry sciongal, I'm not going anywhere. I didn't deserve to be shit on tonight by ARJ75, and she won't be here long anyways. Those of us, who have been on for a long time, will stick through it til the end.

I didn't join this board for this shit throwing bullshit. I joined it for people like Sassy, pianogirl, neverending, sciongal and LORI. The long timers, who suffer just as we all do. And who understand that it takes trial and error to find what works for US. Since, our Doctors will not do so.

Luckily I have no side effects from the flagyl except for one. Depression. Its not documented but I found a board with hundreds of patient reviews on Flagyl and a lot of people were claiming that they got very depressed on it. I even found a couple of articles that said depression could be a side effect. I had been wondering why I was getting so damn depressed when I was nearing the end of my 7 day course. I can only imagine what this 14 day might do to me. huh.gif

I have that elmer glue-like discharge too sometimes and it does cling to the vaginal walls like you say. The only other reason I thought that I could be getting the bv was that it didn't start until I started dating my current boyfriend in 2005. I was on birth control with my last boyfriend and never used condoms except when I would get off the bc for a while. It seemed like I would always get a yeast infection when we used the condoms. With my current bf, we have always used condoms and I have had bv non-stop. I switched to non-latex condoms thinking maybe I am allergic to latex...but so far I am still getting the bv. Have you ever tried the tea tree oil suppositories? I have read alot about them and want to try it.

That sounds just like me...I was wondering why whenever I take it I start getting really depressed. It must be the Flagyl.

I have yet to stick anything unprescribed up my vagina yet. Then again, I haven't been fighting this very long. I've had it for a long time, but didn't know to fight it in the beginning. I think that if I find out that antibiotics really aren't going to work for me, then I might go that route....

I am grateful for every member here. Did I call jewels any names because I'm not recalling that I did, it's not my style. Jewels, whatever your feelings are towards me keep them, I really don't care. I'm not leaving this site, unless when I go to the doctor this next time and find out its yeast that keeps killing all my good bacterias. Maybe I will be lucky enough for that to happen..seeing that I have been on steriods my whole life and it has been proven that it causes yeast infections, not to mention, that I have been on many antibotics my whole life and I'm resistant to pretty much every antibotic invented so far. As we all know, they cause yeast infections too. Read that article that I mentioned to ilovehim, I think that you will find it interesting. I have bv too. I smell like fucking long john silvers. What alarms me is that we are gonna get some scary ass disease that could kill us in a nanu second if we already have a resistance to antibotics. I had to go through 3 fucking rounds of antibotics for a pinkeye infection I got. I'm noting my concerns, and I feel like you are the one getting nasty. Didn't taking the flagyl orally make you sick as a dog? Don't the two metrogel and flagyl have the same chemical properties?

Well I am going to try them after I give this herbal stuff some time to see if it works. I will let you know the results.

Has anyone here ever tried a Zpack for BV? I've read about 3 different girls so far that say this cured them.

ARJ75, you must have me confused with someone else, because you've said several things tonight, that do not apply to me. #1, I don't have yeast. #2, I don't complain, I've had nothing to complain about!!!!! I backed Lori awhile back because we felt Morphia wasn't wanting to listen, but that's over now. AND LASTLY, #3. DIDN'T FLAGYL ORALLY MAKE ME SICK AS A DOG?? What??? Quote me on that, please!!!! BECAUSE, those words NEVER came off my fingertips. NO, FLAGYL orally never made me sick. IT NEVER WORKED!!!!!!!! It's only worked vaginally. And, trust me, I'm more worried about building a resistance ORALLY, then I am vaginally. PERIOD THE END. I'm done with this conversation. So, go ahead, you can have the last word.
