How long ago did you have your daughter? Did you mention it to your OB/GYN? Do you have any other symptoms besides the itch? Maybe a rash? Stinging or burning?

After browsing through some mommy blogs and forums, it seems like a postpartum vaginal itch is pretty common for one reason or another. Some of them had skin disorders, others had itching due to stitches, some had UTI's etc.

You can still try using soothing remedies to reduce the itch such as witch hazel compresses, cold compresses, anti-itch creams, colloidal oatmeal and sitz baths.

If none of that works, then it's probably something more serious that requires medical intervention.

Thank you so much for that wonderful info. I had my daughter 10 months ago so it's been going on for a bit. I haven't gone to my ob because each time I say I'm going to go the itchiness goes away. There doesn't seem to be a rash but there is stinging and burning after the scratching. sad.gif. If none of those suggestions provide relief then yup, I better go get that vajean checked. biggrin.gif. I didn't have this when I had my son but then again the body changes, right? I really appreciate your help. Thanks! Xoxo

Has anyone here tried the product mentioned in the above links?

I used to post here years ago. My BV has gotten better since then but has not gone away completely. I've suffered with a chronic, 24/7 case now for almost 9 years. Sigh.

So, anyway, I was researching BV treatments yet again and came across the Florafemme. The reviews on Amazon either seem promising or suspicious. I can't really tell. But I do see that quite a few of the 5 star reviews are probably legitimate.

It's the one star reviews that make me hesitant. I'm not too keen on intense burning in my kiwi! Sorry if this has already been mentioned or tried before but as I'm sure you can all understand this is a massive thread!

I have not tried it. Most of the reading I have done regarding probiotics to improve/cure BV have not been very promising. I have seen a lot of new clinical trails for new treatments. I still use boric acid to keep it under control. Please let us know if it helps you.

Hello all!

I hope you are all doing well today! I came across this thread and thought I would share my experience as well. Starting in 2009 I began having BV problems when I had my new IUD put in. I had also lost a lot of weight and was eating very poorly as well and wasn't sure what could have caused this issue to occur. Unfortunately, I had lost my insurance shortly thereafter IUD insertion and had no idea what I was dealing with at first. I suspected it to be a yeast infection so I bought monistat; Which burned and itched it worse at first and came back right before my next period. I tried everything I could find online to get rid of this embarrassing and mysterious infection I had going on down there, for instance:

*Yogurt (Vaginally and orally)
*Completely changing diet and cutting sugars and processed foods completely out
*Metro gel
*Iodine (Douche)
*Clindamycin
*Boric Acid suppositories
*Garlic (Orally and Vaginally)
*Removal of IUD
*Folic acid
*Probiotics
*Hydrogen Peroxide(Douche)
*Apple Cider Vinegar(Douche)
*Over-The-Counter RePHresh vaginal gel
*Daily Multivitamin
*Refraining from using soaps in the vaginal area

I can tell you that it ALWAYS came back! The metro gel was expensive and it ALWAYS came back!!I became so tired of fighting the infection year after year and being so angry that the doctors couldn't even try to find the underlying ROOT cause of why this was happening!! For years, I had perfected a regimen that I performed every 3 days and it goes like this:

*Ingesting 6-8 cloves of roasted garlic(It helps rid the body of yeast overgrowth and was phenomenal at preventing BV from creeping up...you can take the pills if you do not like garlic)
*Hydrogen Peroxide(Douche- Half water/ Half Peroxide)
*Apple Cider Vinegar(Douche- Half Water/half vinegar)
Let the solution remain in vagina for 10-15 minutes and expel, Afterwards:

* Insert dose of RePHresh gel into Vagina

This worked swimmingly and I had become so accustomed to the BV I actually worked my schedule around it this way! I mean, When you have this issue and nothing... I repeat... NOTHING or NO ONE can help! For the past 2 months my BV has been missing in action (Same exact time I started taking the prenatal vitamins which , coincidentally, Improved my energy level as well; I couldn't be happier!)
I started taking the prenatal vitmans simply to promote hair and nail growth and for some reason my BV never returned at the three day mark for my regimen to begin! one time I thought that i smelled the faint smell of the of BV coming about to come on(Smells faintly foul with a tinge of copper pennies) so i did my regimen just to make sure it wasn't trying set up camp down there again!

Finally, I had my bloodwork drawn last week and it turns out I am anemic! I have probably been like this the whole time! I think this contributed to my BV hence why the Prenatal was helping with the problem! My VItamin D levels are low too(Which has been linked to BV as well)

I have been taking the Iron supplements and i show no symptoms of BV yet(Only been two days but I just got off my period and this is BV-palooza usually) My best advice would be to have your doctor run bloodwork on you and see if deficiencies could be an issue. Yeast overgrowth in the body seems to be a factor for me as well as hormone imbalance.

I wanted to post this in hopes that if it helps at least one person to have a better quality of life then I am satisfied! i spent years googling and searching and experimenting and crying from getting my hopes up everytime so I hope someone can benefit from my uphill battle with the BV struggle!

Much love! And GOOD LUCK in overcoming this horrendous ailment!!!

I've had BV in the past and been free of it finally for a few months now. There are many different ways to clear up the infection as stated in all the previous posts. Hydrogen peroxide soaked tampon worked the best for me to zap the bacteria. Then I supplemented with RepHresh Pro-B capsules combined with 8 billion Acidophilus & Bifidus refrigerated capsules for about 2 weeks or so to replenish the flora.

Note: I tried changing my diet and taking all sorts of crazy pills that did nothing but cost me money and unwanted stress. The only thing that really worked well was what I stated above.

After finally clearing up, you will need to get to the ROOT of the cause. For me, I wasn't keeping my rear end clean enough after #2. Ladies, you have to keep that very, very clean. I wasn't wiping enough and had no idea there was some residue behind. So wipe, wipe, wipe!!! until that toilet paper is CLEAN. Flush three times if you have to after #2. Better yet, buy some butt wipes. I would not wear thong underwear ever again. You are asking for trouble. Also, this might sound silly too, but don't toot when you are sitting. Not gonna explain, hopefully you get the idea. When you shower, use bar soap down there for your entire crack. Don't skip any folds. I use Lever 2000 or whatever is on sale with no problem.

Hopefully this helps some of you out there! I used to be in your shoes, looking for answers that doctors could not give me, so I pray I give someone some relief.

So in college I was told by a OBGYb to get capsule and powdered boric acid-- and to use those to insert inside me. They take care of any odor better than anything else I've tried. I was douching, using OTC yeast creams... To no avail. I have been doing this for years now and there seems no better remedy. For some reason when my hubby cums inside of me it creates a god awful smell if I don't insert a boric acid capsule. I would highly recommend it-- it's cheap- I buy the boric acid and the capsules on amazon. Or you can look for a compounding pharmacy.

this is news to me. all along I thought it was the girl I was dating then but now I just read that what was causing the foul smell of her vagina was actually what came out of me. I am really learning a lot from this forum. at least now I am getting a clearer grasp of what is really happening. thanks a lot for the new info

Hello Ladies. I've been reading on this forum for awhile and decided to join. I've been suffering from chronic BV for over two years now and have tried mostly everything to cure it without antibiotics. Unfortunately I can't seem to kick it this time and I've done everything except boric acid, which I have coming any day now. My concern is that this particular round of BV has left my vag itchy and burning, and I think the burning may be due to a tear or something. Should I hold off on the boric acid until the burning stops? I don't want to end up poisoning myself. Uuughh. I can't wait until they find a real cure for this shit.

I've been reading everyone's posts, and it's heartbreaking to know that women are still suffering with this infection. I dealt with bv for over six years, and the embarrassment and shame was unbearable. Nothing I bought over-the-counter even came close to working, and every antibiotic I tried made me sick. I was desperate and hopeless, so I started researching the infection in hopes of finding a solution. I tried all kinds of home remedies and finally found a natural and safe cure. I've been free of bv for two years now, and I can't tell you how free and wonderful I feel! To know that I'm healthy and can have a normal, passionate sexual relationship with my boyfriend means more to me than words can ever describe. I wrote a short ebook detailing my findings, and it's available on Amazon for Kindle. It's free if you have Kindle unlimited. Otherwise, it's only $2.99. The title is 'The Natural Bacterial Vaginosis Cure: Your Complete Guide to Safely and Naturally Cure Bacterial Vaginosis Forever.' It's a short guide full of information that every woman should know about bv, our immune systems, and dangerous antibiotics and feminine hygiene products. Please take a look. I promise you won't be disappointed. Isn't it time that you got your life back? I wish you peace and good health.

I have been dealing with BV for two-three years. It was horrible. I was getting the BV at least once a month and I tried everything. Spent way too much money on so many doctors. Well I finally came across an OBGYN who had experience with the BV. She put me on s compound medication to insert vaginally twice a week. I used it for about four months. I haven't had it since!!! Please try this. I know how annoying the BV is and I know how incredibly frustrating it is to have no help from doctors but antibiotics. Here is the compound that the OBGYN gave to me I'm typing it straight off the bottle.
BORIC ACID 400 MG/ ESTRADIOL3MG/ ACIDOPHILUS200MU 400MG/3MG/200MU

I'm not exactly sure what everything is but I know it worked for me and I hope it can help you women out there too!!
Good Luck!

Thanks for the suggestion brianamm11, I'll ask my GYN about that combination. I've had a frustrating couple of weeks. Went to a new GYN about a month ago to see what he could do to help me. At the time I had no BV, but he put me on suppressive MetroGel therapy: 5 full nights at the sign of symptoms and once a week after that for.. the rest of my life. Ok, cool, that's fine if I never have to smell the nasty smell again. BUT... ITS NOT WORKING! I've done suppressive MetroGel therapy before and it worked great as long as I had the prescription. However, the original therapy schedule was 10 nights during initial infection and twice a week thereafter. So I asked my Dr if I should increase to twice a week and he said no, stick with the schedule. So I did for another week until the smell came back with a vengeance. So I've taken it upon myself to treat for 10 days and then continue with twice a week. I honestly think that the initial infection I had a couple of days after my first Dr appt wasn't killed by 5 days of MetroGel, so the weekly treatment is just knocking it back for a couple of days but not killing it. So I'm hopeful that 10 days will kill it. I am getting super worried that I'm becoming resistant to MetroGel even though the doctor assured me that it wont happen. In other news, I've started taking vitamin D and folic acid daily to see if that helps any. SO sick of this. Anyone else done suppressive therapy? I've also read on the NIH website that they recommend adding boric acid suppositories weekly in addition to the MetroGel. I may try it.

Hey,
I'm going to give this formula to my Doc. Is that all the info on your bottle? I notice you have additional info next to
the Acidophilus 200MU does the 400MG/3MG/200MU go with the Acidophilus?
