Giving a good friend Anita Diamant's The Red Tent as a birthday gift; she's the third friend/family member I've done that for in last couple of years, most other people I know have read it and loved it.

Right now my absolute moment of sheer glee comes from designing and sewing undies under MY label. no one elses. I may not be making much money right now, but I finally took that leap of faith to at least try my dream.
...then that lovely cup of tea after hours in front of a machine.

On a slightly different note I would add new school/office supplies to the pieces of happiness list...nothing like getting a new notepad, pens, or highlighters to place in your desk. Perhaps I have been in the world of research/academia a little too long. Others must chare this sentiment right?

gradgal, i am with you on the magnificence of new school supplies. of course, i too am a grad student. there is a sense of possibility that untouched notebooks, etc. carry, at least they do for me.
