So is there where I can ask how to do something or if something is possible? Is there a way to save your own posting default font? I like the font I'm using now and the size, I think it's easier to read for those of us with old eyes...but I'm sort of tired of always having to set it when I post.

Or should I be asking this elsewhere?

I have a technical question: How do I get the photos that are on "my pictures" on my PC onto my profile? I keep trying to transfer one onto my profile page (my avatar), and I always get the message back that the pic is too large (greater than 90 pixels) to transfer. So, how do I go about reducing those photos to the appropriate size? I've tried many different ways to make this work, but so far nothing's worked. It doesn't help that I'm pretty cyber-challenged. So, any helpful hints from any of you Busties in the know about such things would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance! huh.gif

punkerplus
I used a photobucket account and did it that way which I found easier. There is an option for entering a URL of a pic.
ratgrl
Thanks for the suggestion, Punkerplus. I'll look into Photobucket.

It's just weird, though. I've got all these pictures on my PC (and also on my new online photo album), and I haven't a clue how to "reduce" their pixel size to put them on the Bust site. BTW, I've run into the same problem when trying to upload a picture on my Myspace site. There must be a really easy way--after all, people upload photos all the time--but I'm at a loss as to the way. Frustrating! unsure.gif

mmm, the forum should automatically resize the image as long as it's not too big, at least for images you host elsewhere. i know my avatar isn't that size! it's really 160px wide, not 90 or 100 (whatever it is they use here)
pollystyrene
I had trouble getting my avatar image to work, even though it said it was 85 x 90 (or something like that), according to Photoshop. Turns out it was because it was a jpeg file instead of a gif. For some reason that made the difference, and once I switched it, it worked.

Dear Lounge Lady,
I have not been able to log in using my new user name, that i registered a few days before the changes here. I tried to reset the password but only came up with an error message after I clicked the link that was sent to my email.
pollystyrene
Dear Lounge Lady,
Can we get the " For Man Who Search Woman: who single how i" thread in Working Girls deleted? What a dumbass!

Thanks!
plynn
There appears to have been a spam invasion in the Working Grrls section - and maybe elsewhere, I haven't checked yet. Scary! please destroy! Thanks....
pepper
yeah lounge lady!! you rock the planet rock mama!! mondo clean up so appreciated!
pollystyrene
Thanks Lounge Lady, but you missed this one.
gypsyraven
I was wondering, is there a way to keep someone from reading my posts? I ask because I may have a troublemaker. Thank you.
roseviolet
Gypsy, I hate to say it, but I don't think that's possible. You might be able to edit posts you've already made & remove what you don't what others to read, but that's about it. The only other option I can think of is to create a new screen name, refrain from tellinganyone in your real life about it, & make sure you don't reveal too much identifying info in your posts and on your profile.
gypsyraven
Thank you Roseviolet. I will take that into consideration.
raisingirl
There's more spam garbage in Working Girls. This is getting old real fast. It's not even entertaining.
moxiegirl
hey, question...i seem to have lost my avatar! I tried to put a new one up, it didn't load b/c it was "beyond the limit set by administator" even though it was below the size restriction. when i emailed the administrator to ask about it, my first avatar disapeared! Help? Still no word from admin...
pepper
we need a welcome message. please, it's really essential that there be some sort of "hi, this is how it works 'round here, ask questions here, etc."

a page with faq or instructions on things would be great too, like what all the icons mean, how to manage your pictures etc (obviously it's a bit confusing, and how to revive old threads, someone's figured it out but it makes no sense to me.

would you consider it? thanks.
raisingirl
What Pepper said! Because none of us want to feel like broken records.

we're working on the announcement thing, promise....

Working Girls is beginning to look like a trainwreck.

Is there any way that there can be a time limit on when you can start your first thread?

Oh, and asshat in aisle two is still there.
turbojenn
On the board I run, admittedly with different software, I've installed a mod where you cannot start a thread until you have made 5 posts - that's cut down on a lot of the spambots. Also, I added an account activation key where on the memberlist, you do not show up on the public list until you've made 5 posts, and any web addresses you enter in your profile do not show up until 10 posts - to prevent the spambots from garnering google ranking by their links in membership profiles.

I don't know if there are similar mods for invision software, but its an idea that might be worth looking into to minimize moderator cleanup time. cool.gif
mermaidgirl13
BunnyB, Working Girls is a mess - I think it'd be awesome to require a month or at least 20 posts (like TurboJenn said) or something before someone can start their own thread.

I noticed something else while in Working Girls just now. I'm listed as the thread/topic starter under Don't Make Me Shush You - Librarians' Thread and I did not start that thread! I wonder why that happened.

turbojenn
mermaid - while you might not be the "orginal" topic starter for the librarian thread, I think we lost a ton of archives awhile back in dingofest 2005, so the topic history is truncated, and your post just is the oldest one left.
msp
Loving the new boards a lot. My one suggestion? If I open a forum - F-Word, for example - and only read one thread, my preference would be for the whole forum to be marked as read. Does that make sense? I've already checked that forum and read all I plan to read. OR, if there was a way to "mark all as read" within each forum rather than just the entire board.
yuefie
Wow, those dipshit spammers sure do love WG. "Look there can be somebody..."? Shove it up your ass klaus. rolleyes.gif
sixelacat
pssst....msp....if you click on the forum title in the pink leopard strip at the top you'll get a drop-down box with the option of "mark forum as read and return to board index"
msp
I'm looking everywhere and not seeing what you mean. Tell me again?
bunnyb
msp, it's difficult to see but when you go into the f-word (for example) above all the f-word threads it says the f-word in the pink leopard print strip and beside it there's a tiny black arrow pointing downwards. Click on it and the options are there to mark thread as read. I couldn't see it for looking at first, either!

wow, sixelecat, how are you finding these things out? you must really be exploring!
msp
OOOooooooooohhhhh, okay, there it is! Yeah, that's really hard to see. Fabulous. Thank you!
sixelacat
Yeah, msp, I'd forgotten to mention everything recently moved three inches to the left. Glad you found it!

bunnyb, my OCDishness made me find a way to mark forums as read, lest I endanger Gary Coleman's health. Plus, I like clicking random buttons biggrin.gif
pollystyrene
Can we get the "Courtny Love" thread in SLTS deleted? It was started by a tr**l.

ETA: And there's more spammers in Working Girls- WTF?
auralpoison
Great. The religious nut is back in AStWT. Oh, pretty Lounge Lady! Please to delete that fuckchop.

Word on the S***yG***s removal, too. What is that guy's problem? He's bi you know.
pollystyrene
I emailed her about that one...did you know you can go into the thread now and there's a "REPORT" button and ou can email her directly? How conveeeenient!
auralpoison
Okay. So the fuckchop below has created MYRIAD duplicate threads so he can jerk off to the attention. The sooner the threads are deleted the better. He's even duped threads that deal with people's personal, sensitive issues. A Bustie just had a relative die & rather than get hugs & support she's gotta deal with fuckwittery. Not cool. Oh, Lounge Lady, could you do a clean up on all aisles tomorrow?
bunnyb
Survivor's Space and Death of a Loved One should be off-limits, anyone with an ounce of morals wouldn't go there.
girlbomb
Both trolls are trying to disrupt the functionality of this BB. Neither of them deserves any more consideration than the zoo porn spammers.
raisingirl
Word to the G.B.
mandolyn
i formally renounce my previous "oh come on why can't we just ignore them la di dah la di dah" stance.
ban, censor, PLEASE, ban, dammit!

and we need to re-instate a live chat thingie. it's been too many years. that was just too much fun.
but it would also have to have the real-time IGNORE thingie. of course.

raisingirl
Oh yeah, the little chat box! That was the shiznit, fo' shizzle it was.

I say ban the fuckers.
doodlebug
Thanks for the clean-up, Lounge Lady! smile.gif

So where is it? The welcome wagon needs to be retired.

I am so sick of seeing duplicate threads from new people who DON'T EVEN BOTHER to see how we operate here. Grr!
sybarite
Seconding the revival of the live chat function, please! I never got to use it the first time around... I was too shy. smile.gif
pollystyrene
I could never get it to work!...maybe that's a good thing- something to keep me on Bust more than I already am? rolleyes.gif

So I'm a bit confused--is the Loungelady a moderator of sorts? I'd hope so. (By which I mean "Do we finally have a moderator--please, please, please?")
raisingirl
I just assumed that Loungelady is either Debbie/Celina or someone else in the office, but I don't know for sure.

It's fairly easy to do with invision - no mod installation needed! It's a multi-step process, though:

1) Create a new permissions mask called "New Members" based off of the "Members" permissions mask.
2) Edit the permissions for "New Members" (in the permission mask management part, not in the topic part) so that "New Members" cannot start topics.
3) Create a new user group called "Advanced Members" based off of the "Members" user group.
4) Edit the "Members" user group so that instead of having the "Members" permission mask, it has the "New Members" permission mask AND (at the very bottom of the configuration page) that after [x] posts (say 10 posts) it automatically upgrades users to "Advanced Members".

That's it!

You can also mark forums as read on the main page by clicking on the graphic on the lefthand side of the page.

And, uh, if people have random-y questions about the forum software that nobody knows the answer to ... someone poke me here and I'll try to answer 'em. I'm about to enter my fourth year (omg!) as an Invision admin, so I know waaaay, waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much about the software.

And one of these days, the inability to use the go to last functionality is going to make me actually go poke at *my* forum to try to fix it...

cross-posted with community forum:

there are WAY more spam threads with the new software than with the old. why is that? and why do so many of them end up in working grrls? is this software vulnerable to digital trolling in a way that the old one wasn't? maybe our old lounge software was just so archaic that spammers didn't think backwards old ladies like us were worth it. tongue.gif
sybarite
Loungelady,
Could you please clear away the pics posted in the perilous position of choice thread?
Thanks.

(Alliteration above is unintentional!)
roseviolet
Well, it looks like the Lounge Lady logged in on Bust just a few hours ago. However, Working Girls is still clogged with spam threads that have been on here for days. What's the deal? Why haven't these things been deleted?
