Nooooooo!
It's been written in the stars for most of this season but it still saddens me. They messed up this season and they lost the show and some of the less loyal fan-base; I'm hopeful thought that a miracle comes about and the save it and recapture the spark they lost. I agree that it is one of the better TV shows still: it is intelligent and absorbing.

Great. One of the few good strong female characters on TV and they're going to ruin it. Baaaaastids.

Veronica Mars Cancelled
Source: Moviehole March 15, 2007
Moviehole has learned from "Veronica Mars" star Tina Majorino's
representatives that The CW has cancelled the critically acclaimed series.
Kristen Bell and the gang won't be back for a fourth season on the network.
The mystery drama, also starring Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Teddy
Dunn, Jason Dohring and Francis Capra, started on UPN in 2004 before that
network merged with The WB to become The CW.
The four remaining episodes of season three are scheduled to air in May.

Huh, how about posting the rest of that article:
UPDATE: E! Online's Kristin Veitch says it may be more complicated than just a simple cancellation. It might come back in a new format, jumping ahead four years when Veronica is an FBI agent. Click here for more details. And it links to the article posted below.
I'm not opposed to the jumping ahead 4 years thing- if they can develop a greater fan base and manage to stick around, I think having it set when Veronica's out of college will make for better plots. I'm a latecomer to Buffy, so I don't know what theories were floating around at the time, but I wonder if having her get out of college for various plot reasons was intentional because it was just becoming stale being set there (I'm sure Prophecy can confirm or deny this

)

Friday, 12:08 p.m.: The CW rep for Veronica Mars tells me: "The show has not been canceled. A decision will be made at the Upfront on May 17."
Sources tell me that the show is most likely to come back in its new FBI format (described below) or not return at all.
Friday, 9:22 a.m.: After speaking with very reliable sources this morning, I can tell you the following about Veronica Mars:

I signed the petiton and then I wanted to read random comments. The first page I clicked on had a comment from Joss Whedon. It may not have been him, it may have been a total lie, but it made me feel happy.

Sorry, bunny- I taped the episode and didn't watch it until last night, so I didn't even come in here until now.
I thought it was a great episode- good balance of mystery (with social commentary, even!), Mac AND Wallace in the episode, and some relationship-y stuff without it taking over the whole episode. Oh, and Pulp Fiction and The Big Lebowski references- what more could a girl want?
Certainly better than the Gilmore Girls episode.....grr.

I like seeing Veronica with someone who's nice, but I have to admit, these last two episodes have left me a bit cold--they're not bad, but they're not as rich as previous seasons. I almost hope it becomes Veronica FBI; it just sounds more interesting.

These past episodes since they went to the stand alone episodes have been really boring, and not like VM at all. They are making VM look like a fool especially the last episode with the child soldier. I'd rather it end insetad of going on for another season of the stand alone mysteries. I am interested to see how they end the show.

May 17 2007, 09:02 PM
So, I wonder how they're going to end it. It seems they like they're cancelling every show on that network lately. I was thinking that when I was watching Smallville tonight, but I was reading what they were replacing VM with, and it looked like they were replacing it with such crap.
Is the season finale going to be the season finale then?
designermedusa
May 18 2007, 07:23 PM
The season finale next week will be the series finale. Last week it seemed like they were already ending things. I did read that the creater could team with Kristin Bell on something new, but I don't think it will be any version of VM. The show they are replacing VM with shows where the CW's priorities are, and it's not quality programming.

I'm bereft; the CW majorly screwed up this season and then instead of repairing their error they cancel what was one of the wittiest and engrossing of TV programmes. I suppose I'll need to get my fix by continually re-watching season 1 and 2 on dvd but it makes me sad and angry
.
The season finale is not week but next week; there are two more episodes to go before it's over.

The CW website says the finale is this coming Tuesday, and it's two hours with it coming on at 8:00 instead of 9:00.

So the last two eps are showing as one next week. Sniff.

The CW is even more embarrassing a network than Fox. To dump a show like VM for a dating competition involving a farmer finding a wife ... good grief. I know the ratings were sorry, but I don't think they're going to improve dynamically with some of the new crap.

Bye Bye V. You'll be missed.
I liked both episodes, especially the second one. The one liners were flying everywhere, there was action and a glimmer of hope. Oh and Logan, oh dear my.
I wish there had been more afterwards. After that episode that Ostroff woman needs to be bitch slapped for canceling the show for more Pussycat Doll crap.
I think I'm going to rewatch the first two seasons this summer.

The first episode was blah (CW-ified), but the second episode was true VM. I love Logan even more. I was really glad Wallace played prominenty into these last two eps because I always loved the relationship between him and Veronica. The last episode seemed more like a season ender than a series ender, but it left things open for a new venture someday. Too bad the CW cares more about trash shows than a true show with humor and a great cast of characters.
I'll post more detailed thoughts once everyone has had a chance to see the show tonight.

I thought the same about it being a season ender more. Plus the network kept announcing it up til it started as "season finale". I mean when it's a series finale they let you know. THEN I read this rather vague comment on tvguide.com just now that there is NOW a tiny chance it could come back as a midseason replacement next year.
Fingers crossed.

I know, it was nice to see Logan back to his INSANE-funny-pissed-off self. If this was in fact the series finale (oh, please, no!) I think they did a good job of bringing back the core characters (y'know, the ones they've IGNORED most of the season?) and getting them some good lines and situations.....Dick and Mac? Hilarious.

May 23 2007, 09:01 AM
The episodes were filmed way before CW announced the show was canceled, so that would explain why it didn't seem like a series finale.
I loved both episodes - they're easily the best of the whole season. Everything I loved about the show from the first 2 seasons that I thought was missing from this season were there - Logan's simultaneously endearing and disturbing violent temper, biting social commentary, great father/daughter stuff between Keith and Veronica, and classic Wallace/Mac/Weevil/Dick moments. Veronica was in great form as her old bristly and vindictive (and oh-so-clever) self. Before the finale I was ready to say goodbye, but now I feel kinda bummed about it, but I'm happy with how it ended.
Honestly I hope it doesn't come back as a mid-season replacement, as it is bound to suck.

I realize the last episode was filmed before they knew if it would be cancelled, but maybe they should have shot a few extra scenes to add in just in case they needed them. That said I do agree that they did a good job of bringing back all the favorites, and keeping the characters like themselves.
