I'll be honest, I started doing this after seeing an early episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In this thread, we can write exactly where we would rather be, what we would rather be doing, and who we would rather be doing it with rather than where, what and who we are/doing/with right now. Don't be embarressed, just have fun. The situations can be as simple or as fantastical as you want. As they say, only your imagination limits you...

I would rather be sitting on a stone terrace off the coast of Southern France, looking out over the ocean, wearing a bathing suit and a lovely silky sarong, eating salmon with a garlic cream sauce and drinking a crisp, cool white wine. With me would be somone who looks and acts a lot like this character, here.
bunnyb
kitten, which episode? your alternate reality sounds perfect.

This evening, whilst in work shivering in wet shoes and warming myself up with a cup of soup and a cosy cardigan (that I had to buy this afternoon after being caught in a rainstorm) I wanted so very much to be curled up under my 15 tog Winter duvet wearing fleecy PJs and reading the new Terry Pratchett book; I now am. My anywhere but here now is to be with the boy, out for dinner and a large glass of red wine but that will be tomorrow.

I may be lacking imagination but my wishes are simple but true just now.
zoya
Suprisingly, I'm exactly where I want to be right now!

however, if a boy who is intelligent, funny, has good taste in music, handsome, trustworthy, genuine, a demon in bed, completely enamoured of me, & ready and wanting to be in a relationship, would just drop from the sky and snuggle with me, that would pretty much be the cherry on top of everything.
crazyoldcatlady
i want to be sitting in my parents living room on a cool, somewhat rainy fall day in large sweat pants and a hoodie, watching college football and napping periodically.
i want to be home sad.gif

bunnyb - I am so ashamed to admit that I can't remember which episode. I know that it is first season and Willow's fantasy involved baked ziti and John Cusack.
And yes, my fantasy has been worked on for awhile. That is often the place I go to in my head when work is making me nuts.

Right now I just want to be back in England and to never set foot in a bank again. Luckily for me that might come true by Monday. Yay. biggrin.gif
pinkpoodle
Right now, I wish I could be at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
lilacwine13
Camping in the woods, with the sun shining, not too hot, and I'm just waking up, snuggled up in a comfy sleeping bag, with a day full of hiking, beer drinking, photography and just chilling near a stream or lake, then a roaring campfire when it gets dark, some star-gazing, maybe the Northern Lights, grilled veggies for dinner, s'mores, and more beer-drinking, with a Johnny Depp look-alike to play the guitar as we're sitting around the fire.

Okay, so the last part is more "Where do I want to be tonight," but it goes along with the premise. tongue.gif
pinkpoodle
Hell, I want to be wherever Johnny Depp is right now!!
pepper
mmmhmmm. i want to be wherever a single johnny depp is right now.
or i could take a nap.
or be in a house that isn't halfway unpacked and still kinda dirty. le sigh.

i'll think of something better next time dry.gif
pollystyrene
Ok, pepper, you inspired me, even if it is a lame wish- I want to be in a clean house where all the laundry and dishes are done and about $500 more in the bank account. And Johnny Depp on his way over, too, would be nice!
crinoline
I would rather be lounging in a beautiful gazebo on a floating garden island. The night is bright and each star is perfectly lucid. Sweet jasmine scents the air on a light breeze. The water is fresh and clear, whispering as it moves softly against the edges of my island. I am wearing a white silk Edwardian peignoir, dripping with sumptuous silk lace detailing. My boy is reading a book, snuggled against me in his beloved old blue jeans. His hair is getting too long and it curls gently over his face and glasses (in that adorable way that it does). *sigh*

...Or really, just anywhere with a clear view of Johnny Depp.
edie52
Smelling my boyfriend's armpit.

Somewhere that isn't cold and rainy... smelling his armpit in Spain, maybe? And eating gazpacho.
shinyx3
in my bed with hubby curled up around me and lil sondly sleeping i his cradle

72 degrees, sunny, but I'm in a shady place. In a hammock, swaying gently, no mosquitoes. Bottomless glass of sangria.

Where: at my possibly-future house in the next town over after a party, celebrating my first in-town show with my band in the form of cuddling and talking and dozing sleepily with my lovely lovely boy...who is not actually mine, but maybe will be, I hope, stroking his hair and feeling his breath on my neck..
kittenb
On my bike, riding by the lakeshore. sad.gif
nickclick
....in a limo, dressed in marc jacobs (and 15 lbs smaller of course), driving to my solo show at the Guggenheim, Johnny next to me.

ok, back to earth....

....curled up in bed with a book, peppermint tea, mr.nick, and something rockin on the itunes.
jami
... on a beach in southern california, watching son surfing (or at least trying) ...

far away from this madness that is our life
pinkpoodle
Rudderless, that sounds soooo awesome. Although, I'd almost rather be in blanche's place!!! It's funny how Johnny Depp always seems to be a factor in this thread!!

Okay, let's see...

I'd like to be sitting around a campfire in northern Minnesota drinking cold brewskies and singing folk songs....with Johnny Depp.
doodlebug
Lying in a big comfy bed with lots of pillows and a down duvet, with the sun streaming through the bamboo blinds (okay, this is my bedroom), luxuriating in afterglow, while a Colin Firth look-a-like/sound-a-like makes me breakfast (sausage, eggs, hashbrowns, toast) in the kitchen, and keeps burning the toast 'cause he keeps coming back for smooches. tongue.gif

On a big stage with guitarboy and the rest of the band (that we don't have yet), playing our hit songs for a crowd that is dancing like mad and drooling with lust and awe for me, with a huge cloud of pot smoke in the air, and the members of Blue Rodeo backstage dying to jam with us after the show.
shinyx3
on a plane first class to hawaii for a romantic get away with my hubby. holding his hand and drinking a glass of wine while he tells me all about his trip to gevena
kittenb
Curled up in my bed, with the radiator blasting, covered in blankets and cats, drinking hot chocolate w/marshmellows while reading a Nora Roberts trilogy.
kittenb
May 1st, already moved and done with my research paper, making a great dinner and chocolate cookies.

i know it's a cliche for me, but:

in a movie theater, with all my treats next to me, rum and coke in my hand, giddy to see amazing new movie by my favorite director, and someone who loves movies as much as i do, "chin-chin-ing" me.

or in a theater, drinks, candy/chips/lunch, not knowing anything about the movie i'm about to see, save for the title, and it turns out to be some kick ass movie that i am in love with before the title card comes up, and still thinking about, figuring out days afterwards....god... that sounds dreeeeeeeeaaaaammmmy.

lol...i am so easy.

or, in some nice bathroom, in a warm clawfoot tub (or a fancy spa one), bubble bath, and a tv opposite me, about to play a foreign movie i've been afraid/waiting to see for years...

*raises her right hand* i think i have a problem. i'm a movie addict. googles film 12 step programs....

Watching David Tennant's last Dr Who Christmas special, with John Barrowman, James Marsters and Nathan Fillion all as cross-over guest stars. Rampant chemistry, flirting, innuendo and gratuitous nudity galore wink.gif

Or.... sitting at my desk at work, 5 minutes after having given in my notice, savouring the moment.

Or...sitting in the sunny garden, reading a vintage Bunty annual, with the cat by my side when a housemate pops out to say they've just baked lemon curd tarts.
Persiflager
In a dive bar in Mexico, with a half-pint of maragrita in front of me and my lover by my side.

I'd like to be here too, persiflager.

Or...a coffee shop in an urban area, iced coffee in one hand and a book in the other, a job lasting all year lined up, wearing a nice pair of boots, a dress and my ipod playing Arcade Fire.

Maybe I am taking this game too seriously but does that episode actually exist? B/c if so YIPEE!
Persiflager
Sadly no, but it is my dream rolleyes.gif

Actually, an episode with the first three is perfectly possible - maybe if we all wish really hard......

Going for a sunny morning run around la Tour Eiffel before spending a lazy afternoon in the Tuileries with a good book, meeting friends for dinner later on. Being in good enough shape to go for a run.

Getting into bed in my new house under clean sheets, and listening to quietness outside the window.

Sitting on a quiet beach of an Ontario lake, reading a book and drinking cold beer. Sunglasses that engulf my face. Feeling the hot sand between my toes, and glancing up to watch A playing with kiddo in the water, and knowing they'll be at it for the whole afternoon.

Cycling along the side of a canal in Amsterdam with spring sunshine and a fresh breeze, second-hand books and wine in the frotn basket, on the way to meet a friend for lunch in a cafe where we'll spend most of the afternoon laughing.

Make it Dublin and I'll just say, "What she said."

Back in the crummy town of Worthing in the UK, where i spend 12 years of my life up to about a year ago. Sitting in the same shitty pub we went to every weekend, with an awesome group of friends and a drunken walk home ranting about issues for hours that we would normally spend 15 minutes discussing, because its 'too serious', like the end of the universe and Darwin's theory of evolution.

Good times.

A few years ago I went to Southampton (UK) to visit a friend. He'd come home in the middle of the night because he worked late. On one of these nights, he jumped into bed and asked me where I'd be if I could be anywhere in the world. I told him I could be anywhere in the world, I had chosen to visit him.

At some greasy spoon diner with a huge cheesy omelet, toast, hash browns and a bottomless pot of coffee, writing in my journal. There are a bunch of teenagers hanging out, talking at one table, some college students coming back from the bar at another and a couple of cops on their break. The waitstaff is pleasant if a little bored, and while the food and coffee aren't the best, they're hot.

I'll settle for an IHOP or a Perkins, but sometimes I miss those nights where I could stay up late like that.

I want to be at next weekend, in a pretty summer dress, at a street fair, knowing that I have 2 great parties to attend. biggrin.gif
crazyoldcatlady
i can't believe i'm saying this--after 8 months of winter--but i'd rather it be fall right now, with a cool crisp breeze and an eerie lack of birds singing (save for a crow or two), with the windows propped open, heat just kicked on with that radiator-hasn't-been-used-all-summer smell, bundled in a hoodie and blanket, and either sleeping or watching college football.
zoya
I want to be sitting at my desk, writing a book, while the maid I could afford to hire cleans my flat (which is currently a disaster area, whilst I procrastinate online) does all the laundry and dishes, and basically just takes care of everything.

Several different emotions/ideas floating around in my head...

One, in bed, under the covers at an undisclosed location with the LD guy, just discovering things and doing whatever we want to do. ...Perhaps in a central California coastal spa resort, with a jacuzzi outside our hotel room, under the deep green trees. And excellent room service. ...White wine, fruit and cheese...mmm.... (I know, how bougie can I get?).

Two, on a deserted beach in the shade of the trees behind me, with nothing but white sands, deep green ocean, pale blue sky, and the beach chair on which I'm sitting. No sounds around me but the ocean and the breeze; no thoughts in my head, other than "ahhhhhhhh...."

Three, in a creaky old painted lady Victorian house on the San Francisco hillside, in and above the fogs, as I look down from my big round captain's window at the top of the house on the SF Bay in my big, comfy cable-knit sweater, a big mug of hot, fresh coffee in my hands.

I love this. I was so in the mood for diner breakfast earlier this morning, but I'm close to broke so it was breakfast at home for me.

In Dundee with my super fun friend Gav watching trashy movies and laughing at losers.

Waking up in my tent on a beach in southern California or Organ Pipe National Monument with a full day of hiking ahead.
