It's easy to be seduced by nostalgia and lace, but in order to really fall in love I still need a bit of freshness added to the mix. By combining a bold and frequently strange color palette with exaggerated, romantic trimmings, ETSY seller Vintageopulence delivers in a major way.
Vintageopulence describes herself as a 'little British lady, now living happily and warm in the Southern United States.' Her etsy items are a combination of hand dyed and ... Read More

Now I know these Target designer duds are sometimes hard to get your hands on, so I'm giving you advance warning on the cute, vintage inspired line coming down the pipe on May 17th from Tracy Feith. I had the opportunity to chat with the charming and creative designer (with his surfer dude good looks!) at the press preview a few weeks ago, and he explained to me that he wanted clothes that looked like something you would find on your best vintage store score, but ... I watch The Bachelor. And not just off-handedly while flipping channels, or once in awhile if I happen to be home. On Mondays I make a point to have dinner made by 8 so I can give each episode (and the adult beverages my friend Amber always brings over) my full attention. This garners me endless teasing from my boyfriend and I've only recently come to terms with admitting my slight obsession to friends. But I can't help it, I'm hooked. The show ... Read More

I went to see the amazing 3D version of Coraline last night, and I loved every minute of it! Written by the very talented Neil Gaiman (look for an interview with him in next months issue), it tells the story of a feisty little girl that gets sucked into a nightmare world of scary dolls and witchy mothers who steal childrens eyeballs and souls. It's beautifully crafted out of what looks like the Rankin and Bass style claymation, and the 3D stuff is trippy! I also ... Read More

Word on the street (and by street I mean Fashionista) is that Beth Ditto's line for the U.K. store Evans is coming out sooner than expected, maybe even March! I can't WAIT to see it. If the clothes she's created are anything like the ones she rocks, it will be a stellar collection. I mean just look at these two outfits! Totally different, totally awesome. How does she do it?

Prolific Japanese artist Nagi Noda has created some awe inspiring works, from her short films to her photography to her fashion line but I think it is safe to say these hats take the cake. Noda created these hats using the models own hair so all you need is a blow up picture of a dolphin and a can of hair spray to complete your Friday night ensemble. Check out the pictures up close here.

PAP ART! Well I say props to Nancy Mizuno Elliott for curating this exhibition that's all about the vagina and women's health issues. Even though the show is currently only in Missouri at Truman State University (It's reception is March 17th), I'm still gonna follow the blog she created here about the exhibit and see if it will be coming my way any time soon. So, I'm just curious. What kind of thoughts go through your head while your uterus is getting swabbed? ... Read More

Amnesty International is running a new ad campaign in the UK. Their posters are being displayed on the trains ('tubes' if you're across the pond) and their message is getting a lot of attention; 'RAPE IS CHEAPER THAN BULLETS'.
For a nonchalant passer-by, this poster might not be doing its job. Some folks have deemed the ad offensive, as can be expected for any signage with 'bullets' or 'rape' present. For others it won't provoke any more than a 'what the ... Read More

If you're in the Chicago area, make sure you head out to one of these local hotspots and pick up a Thought You Knew (TyK) Pin-Up calendar. With 100% of the proceeds going to the Chicago Women's Health Center, and a slew of sexy ladies gracing the pages, it's definitely something worth checking out. Plus, the monthly hotties aren't your run-of-the-mill models; they're everyday girls, bike messengers to be exact! The gal behind this project, Alexis Finch, rounded ... Read More

SCREAM BAGS, BLOOD CIRCUS, WRESTLING, HIPSTER LAWSUITS, FAKE GOLD CHAINS, CREDIT FRAUD, ST. CLOUD FLORIDA, SPRAY BOTTLES FOR YOUR DOG... These are amongst the wonders you will find when you travel down the rabbit hole that is SANTO GOLD. A few months ago my YouTube Tzar, Alex Kaplan, informed me of this golden nugget. Wikipedia has an entry on Mr. Gold, but this entry doesn't include the fact that he has a stalker named Ryder Ripps, who has ambushed his inbox with ... Read More
