Miley Cyrus can’t stop, and she won’t stop, and (let’s be honest) why should she? Before the controversial singer embarks on her 38-city tour promoting her #1 album “Bangerz,” she will appear in her own “MTV Unplugged” special. Not sure how to feel about it yet, but the poster is promising.
Over the past 25 years "Unplugged" has been the source of many iconic musical performances, showcasing super-star artists like Nirvana, Jay-Z, and Bob Dylan. By following in the footsteps of these musical greats, it has been said that "Miley’s vision for the performance is like nothing we’ve ever seen,” and that we can expect it to easily be one of the most memorable "Unplugged" performances to date. Well, duh, since the singer has only recently became relevant as not-Hannah Montana with her "ratchet" and explicit shock-value tactics that are terribly uncomfortable, and apparently hard not to watch. But hopefully this show will offer more talent and depth, and less cultural appropriation.
It's not a shock that Miley is stripping - down to acoustics for the show and, in the advertising poster, right down to star-shaped nipple pasties, balanced nicely by a set of crooked false teeth and a blond bobbed wig. I can dig it.
Catch the “Unplugged” special live on Wednesday, January 29, and check in with us post-show for some blog responses!
