BUST's own Callie Watts makes Candy Rain, a porn magazine for women, made by women. If you haven't seen an issue yet, do not pass go and do not collect $200-- check out the site above. She also appears in VICE’s new "Pornification" series of video interviews, talking about how she started the amazing mag. Check out both the video and, of course, Candy Rain, for more excellent ... J. Fein Designs uses a combination of reclaimed items, vintage pieces, and sustainably grown wood to create stylish, unique, and eco-friendly pieces.  The company was founded by Jessica Feinsmith, who says she is inspired by her travels, nature, and the past.  Their wide selection of rings is especially awesome, including colorful butterflies and feminine cameos (there’s even a skull cameo, if you want a bit of edge) set on hand carved wooden ... Feminist icon Germaine Greer has come under fire recently for making negative remarks about other women.  Greer wrote the 1970 bestseller, The Female Eunuch, which encouraged women to reject the traditional nuclear family idea (she felt it oppressed women.) In March, the Australian feminist said Prime Minister Julia Gillard had a "big arse."  She also noted that Gillard's jackets make her look like an "organ grinder's monkey," though she later ... At BUST, we love Johanna And The Dusty Floor, and they have a new video out we think you will enjoy just as much as we do. “Fishbones” is a beautiful and haunting slow electro-pop song. The video was shot by Jeaneen Lund, a regular contributor to BUST, and the amazing visuals (courtesy of Iceland) are as striking as the music. Johanna will be singing for The Cranberries on their world tour starting in October, but first she's  headlining a ... Read More
On a scale of one to obsessed, my love for the friendship that Amy Poehler and Tina Fey share would be labeled as “straight up obsessed.” So, you can only imagine my excitement when Vulture released this vintage picture of the two ladies hugging it out circa nineteen-ninety-something. According to Conan writer Brian Stack (via Vulture), it was taken at Lake Michigan in Chicago when the two did improv with Second City. There are a lot of good ... Read More
Lovers of Cat Power, you can now hear her new album in its entirety! The album, Sun, has been reviewed by NPR as the “best record she’s ever made."  And it is a fantastic piece of work. The singer’s lovely voice takes on melancholy song that are slightly faster and a bit catchier than the ones she's produced in the past. It reminded me of the pretty harmonies and vocals of both Regina Spektor and PJ Harvey. My favorite of her new songs are ... Read More
Screaming Females’ front lady Marissa Paternoster comes back from the dead (uh, literally) as a cat flesh eating zombie out for revenge in the Jersey-based punk band’s weird new music video for “Leave It All Up To Me.”  The video, which premiered on RollingStone.com, is meant to be a continuation of the playfully gory story started in the previous video for “It All Means Nothing,” where the two boys of the band kill ...   Sinead O’Connor, the Irish rocker who became a staple of the sad rock that was huge in the 90’s, gave her fans a scare when she tweeted about her depression and her desperate need for medication and psychiatric help last January.   Shortly after, the bipolar singer attempted suicide for the second time, overdosing on pills.      But there’s good news from all this gloom.  O’Connor has since made a ... A new survey released by the Women’s Media Center (a non-profit organization founded by Jane Fonda, Gloria Steinem, and Robin Morgan) revealed that roughly three-quarters of the presidential coverage in newspapers is written by men.  The survey included well-known papers such as The New York Times, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal, among others.  From January 1 to April 25, 76% of articles were written by men, and from April 16 to August 25, ... I don’t even own a TV, so it’s not really difficult for me to avoid 16 and Pregnant. However, even if my apartment was filled wall-to-wall with televisions (which would be a  pretty weird decorating choice, but whatever), I’d probably avoid the hit MTV reality show. Admittedly, I have seen a few episodes, but I always find the show pretty tragic. When I do watch TV, I prefer something a bit more lighthearted, like 30 Rock, or Parks ... Read More
