One of my favorite people in NYC is Galadriel Masterson, fashion stylist, BUST contributor, and self proclaimed “cuntastic lezberry,” she knows it all and she isn’t afraid to tell you! Luckily for us, Galadriel has recently launched her new web series, “In Bed with Galadriel” where she’ll be interviewing various NY luminaries (in bed, natch) and getting all up in their faces. The first episode features the legendary Miss Guy, ... Read More
Thanks to FRUiTS, the world can keep up with what the ladies of Harajuku, Tokyo are strutting in on a daily basis. The monthly street style magazine has been snapping shots since the mid 90s, and the August issue is filled with the usual volume of fresh and fearless fashion. These girls will wear whatever they want, whenever they want, and they don't mind if you do a double-take or two. Here are some of the looks featured in the current issue: Yo Nicki, this is ... While watching Hallmark's I Love Lucy marathon in honor of Lucille Ball's 100th birthday yesterday, I found myself swooning over Lucy's outfits. Her ensembles are classic, of course, but many of the elements (sheer, lace, sweetheart necklines, polka dots, tea-length hems, etc.) seem to be particularly on-trend at the moment. So much so, that I easily could compile a look from several stores mimicking her signature looks.   Perhaps the most iconic outfit is ... Read More
I’ve been a nail biter since I was a wee lass, so getting my nails done has always been out of the question. Plus, my nails are so small that I would probably have a panic attack trying to recreate the super-cute “Sweet Strawberry” manicure design featured in our current issue. Luckily, there’s a fantastic solution for fussy nail-biters like me - glue-on nails! We showcased some fabulous talons and decals (who wouldn’t want Tom ... Read More
For those of you who remember the day Frances Bean Cobain was born (like me), be prepared to feel a leeetle old. Lil’ FB is now lookin’ like a grown-ass woman, and in this photo shoot she did with former Dior Homme/YSL designer Hedi Slimane, she pretty much owns the camera. I know Kurt and Courtney are her parents and all, but it still freaks me out a little how much she looks like both of them. A whisper of the past in the face of the future. And hot ... Read More
Last week, I got to spend an hour talking to the adorable Leanne Mai-ly Hilgart, designer of the line Vaute Couture, in her cozy West Chelsea studio. Vaute Couture (pronounced like “haute” but with a v for vegan) is a chic coat line that just so happens to be vegan, eco-friendly, and super warm! As an added bonus, Hilgart is a vegan queen. She knows every vegan restaurant worth knowing in New York City and beyond. She also happens to be best friends ... Read More
D.C. native and Brooklyn-based designer Ellen Van Dusen is Dusen Dusen. Her label is bursting with vibrant textiles featuring hand-drawn designs which complement her sleek, no-fuss shapes that say "relax—you can do this; I understand you." At the crux of Van Dusen’s designs are sought-after elements of comfort and accessibility without the sacrifice of personal style or dignity. The line is as wonderfully unpretentious and refreshingly ... Read More
There’s something about summer that just makes me want to shop, and right now I’m way into this adorable collection from Brooklyn-based designer Meghan Sebold’s label Afia. The pieces are totally cute and colorful—prints and pleats galore!—but it gets even better. The fabric is sustainedly sourced in West Africa and the line’s handsewn at a women’s co-op in Ghana, providing fair wages to rural villagers. May-jah ... Read More
Meet Erin. She runs Calivintage, one of my favorite fashion blogs out there. I go to Calivintage for pretty picture, vintage style inspiration and lovely street style shots from other websites. I previously posted her picture in "My Summer Wishlist" where I was coveting her lovely cat print dress. You can check this lovely lady out at Calivintage.com, but she also runs a tumblr and blogs for Modcloth's website on ... Read More
Here are just a few fashionable New Yorkers that I've come across in the past few weeks, including one fabulous former Project Runway contestant! The above photo of Vintage Vandelizm blogger, Jasmin Rodriguez, is one of my very favorite looks. From head to toe, this girl is committed to glamour in a way I really appreciate and admire. She works with a friend of mine at the awesome Billy's Antiques on Houston street in NYC. Below is the ... Read More
