The new issue of VICE is totally 90's dude, literally. Those kooky kids decided to make a high concept 'fake 1994' issue that is pretty cool. This is like a rare issue of INdex or something, with an interview with our pal Daisy Von Furth (X-Girl) by one of my fave writers, Amy Kellner, to Christina Kelly's love letter to My So Called Life, and Bob Nickas' Pavement interview! I have not seen the actual issue yet, and I don't know if these are real or imagined ... Read More
Our favorite French mademoiselle (and former BUST cover girl) Charlotte Gainsbourg has been making a splash the past few weeks in the new Lars Von Trier film Antichrist, and now she's back with the new single 'IRM' from her forthcoming album of the same name. The album, produced by our favorite Scientologist Beck, drops next February. Head on over to her website for a free download of the title track, and look for the first official single 'Heaven Can Wait' soon! ... Read More

Will Sarah Palin ever stop being a punchline? Let's hope not. Wonkette had a contest to create Blingees of her new book cover, and the results are pretty awesome. I've posted my personal favorite here -- old Sarah looks good in shutter shades. Maybe she should have worn those during the campaign to improve her appeal with the 'young voters.' Blingee courtesy Wonkette x x x x x x ... Read More
Cute? Yes. That's obvious. But the best word to describe Slingshot Dakota goes deeper than what's on the surface: it's passionate. Passionate about doing what they love. Passionate about supporting their friends. Passionate about making a difference. Get the idea? Sure, Slingshot can easily hook you in with their poppy tunes and adorableness. But there's so much more behind the blast of sound created by an amped up Yamaha keyboard, a deafeningly loud drum set, ... Read More
The 45th Annual Chicago International Film Festival kicks off today, and this year, organizers have created the Reel Women program to spotlight films created by women or that address women's issues. And when they say 'women's issues,' they ain't kiddin' -- one of the films is a documentary about menstruation, and tonight's opening night feature is the Katherine Dieckmann-directed Motherhood starring Uma Thurman. Right on, Chicago! An Education, ... Read More

I was on the Craftster.org site today and this popped up, so genius, and not too difficult for the craft-impaired like myself. It's the creepy ghost kid Tomas from the movie Orphanage, go rent it if you've never watched, so good and scary! here is the link with how one crafty mom did ... Read More
The Artificial Virginity Hymen Kit has been causing a legit uproar in Egypt.  What's in the phony purity pack?  Why, a diaphragm that trickles a blood-like liquid, of course!  And it's all in an effort to trick new hubbies into thinking their brides are carrying a V-card. The kit is seen as a tool of empowerment to some, but Egyptian conservatives believe it promotes promiscuity and ultimately threatens Islam.  Members of the Muslim Brotherhood ... Read More
Gabba Gabba Hey! Guess what? It's The Ramones Museum in Berlin's first Birthday!  A celebration is definitely in order, cause it's the only museum in the world dedicated to our favorite ripped-blue-jeans clad punk rockers. Museum founder Flo Hayler collected Ramones memorabilia for over 18 years, spending his hard earned euros on everything from original copies of famous photographs to a pair of Johnny's Levis.  That is, until his girlfriend ... I'm pulverized by this latest thing! Yet another book about our favorite residents of East Hampton has hit the streets. Letters of Little Edie Beale: Grey Gardens and Beyond is out now from Authorhouse and features correspondence written to Walter Newkirk between 1977-1987. Joe Landry, playwright of Reefer Madness, will also be working on a play called Little Edie and the Rutgers Boy, adapted from Letters and Newkirk's other book MemoraBEALEia. No word yet on when ...
