We just love, love 13 year old fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson, and after watching this video of her introducing the Rodarte sister's line for Target, you'll probably agree that she is the most adorable person on earth. Her blog, Style Rookie is amazing, and the entire fashion world is bonkers for her, probably since she is the freshest thing to come into it, ever. Unfortunately there are already some ... Read More

It's probably best for my bank account that I can't go to the LA Craftacular on Saturday -- one BUST shopping extravaganza was hard enough on my wallet. But if I could go, and had lots of cash with me, I'd definitely hit up the I Heart Guts table. I'll admit it -- when Craftacular guru Susan said 'You gotta check out this lady's plush uterus,' I was more than a little skeptical. But surprise! These guts are adorable, and I heart them, too.The I Heart Guts website ... Read More

Andrea Garland's beauty products might not do exactly what it says on the tin, pill box or compact for that matter, but they're sure to give the likes of Benefit a run for their money! Tired of boring mass produced packaging, this vintage-loving aromatherapist decided to forgo the norm by choosing to fill all manner of tiny antique receptacles with her products instead. Each one different, the balms and lotions inside are lovingly made from organic and ethically ... Drop into the Craftacular’s DIY Den this Saturday (easy to find: conveniently located next to the bar!) and you’ll be able to drop spindle and have a whirl at spinning your own yarn. Yes, pick up a copy of BUST when you arrive, wherein you’ll be able to read all about hand spinning, before checking out a live demonstration of this technique.
Showing off their spindle skills will be Rachael Matthews and Louise Harries, the yarn-tastic ladies behind Bethnal ... Read More

Indulge your craft addiction in the DIY Den at York Hall this Saturday! Alongside the yarn-based action (from those wool-crazy Prick Your Finger girls and Knit & Destroy’s Kandy Diamond), you'll find a rather nifty drop-in rosette-making workshop hosted by Barley Massey, queen of green crafting and owner of the heavenly Fabrications store in nearby London Fields.
Combining a mix of recycled fabrics, ribbons, buttons, sequins and anything else you ... Read More

Hansel & Gretel is one of those twisted fairytales I personally enjoyed as a kid. I mean, getting stuffed alive into an oven is scary as all get out, but it wasn't the typical damsel-in-distress story that a lot of the fairytales that we grew up on were.
This holiday season, there's a special treat because New York City’s Metropolitan Opera is presenting Hansel & Gretel, the opera: Engelbert Humperdinck’s (not that Humperdinck) take on ... Read More

A few weeks ago a friend told me about a Velvet Underground reunion at the New York Public Library on Dec. 8th. Now when you say a band is having a reunion, the first thing that everyone thinks is “show!” And that’s what several of us thought, judging by this somewhat confusing listing, but it was actually a talk with Lou Reed, Maureen Tucker and Doug Yule, hosted by David Fricke, long time writer for Rolling Stone. Luckily it turned out to be ... Read More

Bagels are way too scrumptious for their own good, but this one's to get fresh and clean, not for eating. Los Angeles-based Bubble Genius makes these fun n’ quirky soaps, from skulls to Legos, that are vegan and environmentally-friendly. But it’s their food and drink soaps (like the bagel soap pictured above) that look delicious and super real. These would make both practical and kickass stocking stuffers.
You can find these lovely soaps at the Los ... Read More

A few things are a given in terms of my consumer practices: I will go see any movie that Parker Posey is in, even though it may or may not be wretched, and I will read anything put out by VICE Magazine.
VICE Magazine recently released their second volume of "best of " treasures called News, Nudity & Nonsense: The Best of Vice Magazine Volume Two, 2003-2008. The book is a quick read, (it even states inside somewhere that most VICE articles can be ... Read More
