For the first time in four years, The New Pornographers are back with a new album, music video, and an upcoming fall tour.

The official music video for “War on the East Coast” premiered yesterday at Rolling Stone and is taking a “mid-nineties second tier britpop attitude.” A.C. Newman comments that he’d previously never felt the need to appear in any of the Pornographers’ music vids, but with this one, they “wanted to have fun and fully be IN the video.”

“War on the East Coast” is off the bands highly anticipated album, Brill Bruisers, which will be released August 25th on Matador Records. Newman describes it as a “celebration record” since “nothing in [his] life is dragging [him] down and the music reflects that.” I’m excited – seeing as how the band is virtually unstoppable.

A fall tour is confirmed in support of the release of Brill Bruisers, yet another reason to get excited for the album’s late summer release. The power pop group’s ever evolving sound is sure to land on any top albums of year list.
