The Raveonettes are one of those bands I've been listening to on and off since high school -- I was always kind of into them, but never jazzed enough to sing their praises on the Internet. Cut to their concert Sunday night at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. I take it all back, Raveonettes. Why didn't I realize how awesome you were before? The Black Angels got things off to a trippy start with their heavily distorted psychedelic tunes. And they were LOUD -- I'm ... Read More
Jemina Pearl, of Be Your Own Pet buzz, is out with a new single titled, 'I Hate People' featuring Iggy Pop. I just saw the diner-inspired video (with Thurston Moore!) and I must say, I find the campy bits featuring old pics of Mr. Pop quite cute. Definitely check it out below. You can also check out Pearl's personal blog here and her myspace page here! nicole! Video courtesy of ... Read More
While being a sicky-poo this weekend I caught up on YouTube videos and boy, I found a unique diddy. Jack's (wouldn't it be nice to be on a first name basis with him? Jack looking as fine as ever in a video he himself directed?! I'll take it! And another thing, if you're familiar with ... Read More

The last one was laughably terrible and full of your standard Hot Topic fare: Paramore, Linkin Park, and a mid-90s-esque ballad from R-Patz himself. But this one's got original tunes from the likes of Thom Yorke, Lykke Li, and Bon Iver and St. Vincent. I know, right? My personal favorite is 'Slow Life' by Grizzly ... Read More
Sufjan Stevens played his second show at the Bowery Ballroom on October 5th as part of a small tour he is performing to workshop some new songs. Opening band Cryptacize got the sold-out show warmed up with pretty song stylings and herky jerky dance moves provided by lead singer Nedelle Torrisi. Nedelle also took the stage for background vocal duties during the entirety of Sufjan's set. The start of the evening was a bit rough due to a confusing mush of lines ... Read More
