Girls Who Code is at it again! High school students Andrea Gonzales and Sophie Houser, two friends who met at the educational computer science program Girls Who Code, created the new video game Tampon Run as their final project, and it's as great as it sounds. (Don't worry, the game is not about sending your dad out during your period and crossing your fingers he buys the right brand.)
Never has a video game so aptly tackled the social stigma ... Read More

In the world of HelloFlo, girls are so excited to get their period that they fake it with glittery red nail polish on a giant maxi pad in order to win the respect of their equally adolescent peers.
If you’re unfamiliar, HelloFlo is a company that assembles care packages geared toward preteens that are just about to get their period. And they include the works - tampons, pads, and snacks (yes, SNACKS).
In this little video, a mom lets her ... Read More
Just a few short months ago, Naama Bloom was operating her small business from her Brooklyn apartment. She had the concept: her company, HelloFlo, delivers monthly tampons and pads to subscribers. Meant in part to ease pubescent girls’ transition into menstruation, the packages come in various sizes and quantities, which include tasty treats to help make periods a little more fun. Bloom’s company was far from the growing empire it is today and ... Read More

Oh my grash, gals, I must be stuck in the dark ages. Sometimes I forget that they make an app for everything these days, but it never occurred to me that there are apps that would track your period. BUT THERE ARE. THERE TOTALLY ARE.
Truth be told, I'm on the pill, which is supposed to (keyword being "supposed") make it so I know exactly when I'll get it. And even when I wasn't on the pill, I was incredibly sloppy at tracking my period on my Bettie Page ... Read More
Periods suck. Cramps, irritability, and the weeklong bloodbath that mark a fertile lady aren’t my idea of fun. Also, having to spend a ton of money on disposable cotton crap to shove in your pants is total BULL-shit. But wait! There is a solution (to that problem, at least) and it’s emblazoned with sexy shirtless dudes who are ready to support you during your monthly visits.
Available on Etsy (and for a limited time, on sale!), Rosie’s Creative ... Read More

The first time I received a pad was in a small package in health class including a flowery smelling deodorant and a pamphlet on puberty. The boys received Old Spice. I thought their door prize smelled better, and dismissed the pad by adhering it to a guy friend's back, because I was eleven, and I wouldn't even need it for anything but amusement for another three years. Even when I did, I quickly realized that, just as ads promoted, pads felt "like a diaper." And ... Read More
I am one of those chicks that doubles over in pain the first day of my period. When I first started menstruating, the pain would land me in bed for almost two days, and when I could get up to do anything, my whole entire body would feel sore and depleted of energy. Midol and Tylenol could not completely numb the pain, but I still used to hope to Glitter that I had a pill in my bag as I neared the end of the 6-8 hour cycle. I would pop so much Tylenol that my ... Read More

I hate to be cliche, but periods suck! Between the cramps, cravings, and mood swings, I'm like a hormonal werewolf during That Time of the Month. Since I'm way too busy to roam the woods at night hoping to avoid innocent bystanders, I usually make a mad dash to the nearest CVS at the first sign of shark week in order to stock up on remedies/chocolate. But wouldn't it be rad if somebody knew when shit was about to get real and mailed me a magical package meant to ... Read More

Accidents happen, but they don't have to send you underwear shopping after every cycle! Stop throwing out your panties and grab a bottle of Ruby's Red Wash. Ruby's Red Wash is an eco-friendly menstrual stain remover made of a mixture of live bacteria cultures. Why didn't anyone think of this sooner? (I miss you, panties.)
I used the wash on an old stain on my bedsheets, and it knocked it right out without hardcore scrubbing. And it turns out Ruby's Red Wash is ... Read More
