Music is a very male-dominated industry, and when women do rise to prominence they are often pitted against and compared to each other, despite the fact that each queen is a unique snowflake and should be treated as such. But once in a blue moon, all the stars align and three or more female powerhouses collaborate to create a club-banger that reminds the boys that these divas are not only fierce, but borderline superhuman when they work together. You better work, ... Read More
Photography about womanhood is nothing new, but at the same time we always seem to be surprised by a female up n'comer. From Cindy Sherman’s iconic self portraits to… James Franco’s dumb parody of Cindy Sherman’s Self Portraits, photography remains a boys game on the surface. Men seem to have the historical advantage.  But with girls like Cassidy Paul holding cameras, it looks like woman’s photography has a promising future. ... Read More
It’s like my entire feminist life has led up to this one, darling moment. In 2012, Stanford University student Debra Sterling founded GoldieBlox, Inc.—a startup with one awesome mission. As an engineer, Sterling wanted to give girls a toy that would stir up their interest in story-oriented building, a luxury boys are given with Legos. In a world where girls start losing interest in science as young as age 8, Sterling’s big idea seemed to be the ... Read More

It’s about time that Hasbro began marketing their famous Easy-Bake Oven, which has been aimed towards preteen girls since its conception in the 1960s, in a more gender-neutral manner. Inspired by her little brother, one 13-year-old New Jersey girl has started a petition on Change.org to get the company to make the toy oven more boy-friendly. McKenna Pope of Garfield, N.J. wants the company to drop its all-girl advertising in hopes that boys like ... Read More
There are various opinions on the day that is Valentine's Day, but me? I love it. I like hearts. I like candy. I like the color pink. I'm all for it. I'm also all for post-Valentine's Day candy sales (yum!). I think Valentine's Day is as good a day as any to spread a little love in the world, whether that means sending your bestie surprise macaroons from the macaroon queen, buying yourself a little "something something," spending quality time with your ... Of all the "perfect home" bloggers out there on the internet, I think I like Yvestown.com  the best. This Belgium-based blogger lives in an old house that she is in the process of renovating and redecorating, and her style is fresh and clean but also cozy and sweet, a combination that I really love. And homegirl does a lot with pink. The way she uses it it always looks inviting, never cloying; girly but not Barbie. (all images above photographed by Yvonne ... Read More
